July 11, 2026 – It was bougie pedicure day! It was expensive AF, but since I got gel, it should last for 6-8 weeks.
July 12, 2026 – Mom and I took the dogs to a dog bar downtown called Mutts and Martinis. On Sunday mornings, they open the play area for dogs under 30 lbs. Unfortunately, we went on the one day a year when there’s a Boston Terrier meetup, so there was a lot going on, and our little shy babies weren’t too keen on it. They have a quieter section of the play area, so we’re going to try that tomorrow!
July 13, 2026 – I was in a lot of trouble with Lila last week when I didn’t take any photos of this majestic girl for the blog. I promised I would make up for it this week!
July 14, 2026 – Sadly, one of my fitted sheets must be disposed of. I found some tears in it, and I’m not sure where they came from! My best guess: Lila tore up the sheet, knowing her mom would be too lazy to put it in the trash in a timely manner, so she would have a great napping spot for a few days. She is right.
July 15, 2026 – Another Lila photo! But I took this photo to show you guys the sad evidence that my cozy reading chair has gone to the Great Furniture Store in the sky. It kept tearing until I couldn’t sit in it comfortably, so I had my brother help me carry it down to our dumpster. A sad day! (There will be a new reading chair in due time!)
July 16, 2026 – Baby’s first echocardiogram! It was pretty easy. I had to take off everything from the waist up and wear the gown on the bed. Then, the ultrasound tech spent about 30 minutes taking lots of pictures and videos of various parts of my heart, while I lay on my left side with my arm over my head. I got to hear my heartbeat, which was pretty cool. There’s a lot of stuff happening inside these bodies of ours! The craziest part about this day, though, is that when I got home from the doctor, Eloise wouldn’t leave my side for anything! She wanted to be as close to me as possible the whole evening. I’m guessing I came home smelling different or with a different sort of energy that she picked up on? Sweet girl.
July 17, 2026 – A dinner date with Mom! We went to BJ’s, where we, of course, finished off dinner with a pizookie. I did not enjoy this pizookie all that much (it needed 2-3 minutes less in the oven because it was not gooey enough for me!), but my mom enjoyed it, so I’m glad for that!

We got Doggo and then out of nowhere we started getting tears in our sheets. Not a coincidence lol. There’s a dog bar in our area that we’ve never gotten around to going to, so I know what’s next on the list!
Tell Lila that her picture will never be off the blog for too long. Ellie knows when you need cuddles.
You should definitely take Doggo to the dog bar. I think she’ll love it! I think they are GREAT for bigger dogs because they can run around with other dogs their size. It’s a little scarier for these small pups, heh.
That pizzokie looks good! Too bad it was too crunchy.
I’m glad the EKG is all done now, and let’s hope for all good news going forward.
So weird about your sheet – Jake’s fitted sheet was ripped to shreds this week and we had to order a new set. I think it was his toenails though, there is no other explanation.
Speaking of toenails! I love the pedi. I always get gel because it lasts so long!
I am still mystified by the ripped bedsheet! I am not sure how it happened but I’m blaming the cats. 😉
My BIL is a cardiologist. He’s also a jerk, but we blame it on the fact that he honestly does make life or death decisions on the regular.
I had an EKG the day my husband broke his collarbone. The story goes that my husband broke his collarbone on a bike ride and I met him at the hospital (he took an ambulance). The thing is that I’d been for a run and had taken the dog (we’d had her for maybe a month at that point) for a long walk right before I ran over to the hospital and I was undercaloried and definitely underwatered at this point. Once they started making noises about releasing my husband, I realized I was feeling a bit faint and needed a snack and a beverage. I walked out to the nurse station to ask where a vending machine was. And I promptly passed out, hitting my head on the counter on the way down.
I came to as a huge group of emergency personnel (I was in the ER, after all) were loading me on a gurney and suddenly, I, too, was a patient. They did SO MANY TESTS ON ME, including an EKG, xrays, blood and urine tests. It turns out that I needed a sandwich and a glass of water. I was given a gross sandwich and some orange juice and released.
I took my husband home, settled him on the couch, took the dog around the block because she’d been in her kennel for almost eight hours, and the stupid spaniels who live around the block had escaped their fence. I was NOT FEELING 100% and had my dog, who was new to our lives and I didn’t know how she’d react to other dogs. The stupid spaniels (two of them – they look like King Charles, but I might be wrong) were having a blast, running into the street and chasing each other. I managed to grab one of them and drop her over into the yard, but then she got out again. I could NOT figure out how they were getting out and I was SO TIRED and started to get faint again.
I screamed “SOMEBODY HELP ME WITH THESE DOGS” and suddenly three men, who must have been working in a yard somewhere, appeared out of nowhere and managed to wrangle the dogs. I was near tears and about ready to keel over. I went home, drank a gallon of water, and ate everything in the house. Then I was fine. I laugh about this story now, but at the time, it was NOT funny.
The coda to this story is that my ER bill was almost $600 more than my husband’s. Most of that was a pregnancy test they charged almost $500 for, but let’s be clear. My husband had a broken bone and multiple abrasions. I needed some water.
Ouch, Engie! That’s quite a story. I would have freaked out if I came to with a bunch of ER personnel around me. I’m glad everything was okay but ooooof about the medical bills.

You should get a pedicure! It’s a nice time, and I love this little reward system I have for myself, even if it’s not really saving me much money since pedis are so expensive these days!

Your pedicure looks so nice! It almost makes me want to get a pedicure. But a salon would be horrified by the state of my feet. Since I have super high arches, I have so many calluses. And then I kind of, well, pick at those calluses which is a terrible habit.
My echo was clear! No heart issues to worry about, which is very reassuring.
I have super high arches, too! Are your footprints like little islands because that’s what mine look like, HA. My heels are ROUGH and I get very ticklish when they start dealing with them, which is very fun.

Aww, I love that Eloise was all snuggly after the echocardiogram and that it went well! I’ve had an ultrasound, I am not sure if it’s technically the same or not!!!!
I believe an echo is just a heart ultrasound! I was really hoping to find out I was pregnant with kittens, but alas. It is not to be!
Ha, we almost got the echo done at the same time. I had mine on Saturday and it went exactly as you described. Have you received any results yet? Do you know what exactly they were checking for?

I’m not exactly sure what they were checking for, just any abnormalities due to some of the symptoms I gave my cardiologist (shortness of breath, high heart rate when doing simple tasks, etc). My echo was clear, though! No heart issues. Woohoo!
