I took a little break from my photo project, but I’m not going to give up on it (even if I won’t technically complete this goal. But it’s okay! We’ll pretend I did.)
September 12, 2026 – I’m watching TV and coloring, and Eloise is doing her best to prevent me from coloring. But look at her little tucked paws! I die.
September 13, 2026 – It was the first football Sunday of the year! And I got some great dog snuggles. My favorite!
September 14, 2026 – I’m trying this thing where I start my day with a walk outside. I think some people call it “movement”? Anyway, I like it so far!
September 15, 2026 – It’s my brother’s 40th birthday today! My mom took two pictures, and in the other one, I look much better, but my brother’s eyes are half-closed, so because it’s his birthday, I’m choosing the one where he looks better. You’re welcome, bro-bro!
September 16, 2026 – I don’t know how I birthed such a majestic being, but man, she’s stunning. (And kind, and brave, and smart…)
September 17, 2026 – I love being loved by this girl. She’s also a stunner. (She recently went to the vet for a dental cleaning, and they couldn’t stop talking about her big green eyes. She gets whatever she wants because of those eyes.)
September 18, 2026 – Last night at book club, Bri brought out two big totes of her childhood stuff, including her birth announcement. How freaking adorable is this? She also brought her 8th-grade and senior-year yearbooks, and one of her friends wrote in her senior-year yearbook, “You’re like a mom lol.” Bri is the youngest in our book club and not a mother, but she takes care of us the most. I love that she was this way in high school, too! (And yes, this means today is Bri’s birthday! She’s officially in her mid-thirties!)

Your kitties are so beautiful! Look at those green eyes! Of course she gets anything she wants. Look at those tucked under paws! How dare you try coloring when she is right there. By the way, I just listened to your 100th podcast episode, and it was wonderful. Congratulations!
Thank you, Michelle! We are so proud of hitting 100 episodes.
Eloise is very sweet to tell me I need to take a break from coloring from time to time to pet her. She’s so selfless!
Happy birthday Bri and happy birthday to your brother! Your hair looks so silky and smooth in that photo! Is it weird to say I kind of want to stroke it? Yes, it is weird. Yes, I should delete. BUT I WON’T. I LOVE YOUR HAIR.
NO YOU SHOULD NOT DELETE!!! Keep commenting from the heart! Stephany’s hair is gorgeous and silky, so you’re just speaking the truth.
I would be HONORED to have you stroke my hair, Nicole. HONORED.
Let’s reframe the “I won’t meet my goal” thing. Let’s make it “post every week but with PTO”. Even a bad job would at least give you two weeks of PTO time per year, so you should have at least two breaks from “regular” posting each year if not more. That gives you R&R time and keeps you fresh and posting.
With that said, yay that photo a day is back! Happy Birthday Bro!!!
Birchie, I adore you completely. Thank you for this reframing! It was just a little PTO and now I’m back, refreshed, and ready to finish out the year strong.
Yeah, I feel like the 30-day and 365-day goals can be so hard because if you break the streak, you feel like you’ve sort of failed the goal. 🙁 Like Birchie said, maybe just change it so it’s 80% or something so you can take breaks if you need it.
Walking Hannah within minutes of my wake up every morning has been so life altering for me. My mood is better and I’m really really awake when I get to work and not still groggy. #yayformorningwalks
That’s the one thing I miss about not having a dog – they MAKE you take those walks. It’s a really good way to start my day!
LOL @ “and kind, and brave, and smart.” 🤭🤭 Both your girls are all those things and GORGEOUS
Rittersporn! That is such an interesting name! Happy birthday to Bri and belated to your bro!
I definitely thought of you when I posted that about Eloise. I didn’t want to let you down!
I agree with Birchie, you took PTO from the challenge. Or call it a “planned pause”. You didn’t fail or quit or give up. I did quit my 5 year journal, though! I was 2.5 years into it and it was such a slog for me to write something and I never felt drawn to read what I wrote previous years so I finally decided to just bag the project, literally, by throwing it in a trash bag. Oh well, I tried it and it’s not for me!
Happy birthday to Bri! I don’t know if I could bear to go back and read my HS yearbooks… Ekes. High school was a pretty miserable period of my life. I love that Bri was already the mom of her friend group – that enneagram 2 part of her personality shone through early on!
I *love* my One Line a Day journal and reading previous entries, but I know it is not for everyone. I tried to get my mom to use it, and she gave up after 6 months ha. So you made it longer than her!
No thank you on high school yearbooks. Middle school was even worse!
You have some great comments here. I love the reframing of your photo a day project. Yes! You had two weeks PTO, obviously.
You have a beautiful location for your morning walk! I’ll bet its nice early in the morning.
Love the cat photos. Yes, when they sit with their paws tucked under, its the best. Charlotte had huge eyes, but hers were more yellow. I can see why everyone fawns over Lila!
There is SUCH a gorgeous walking path near my apartment, so I need to take advantage of it. I’m glad that the weather is getting nicer, too. Soon I won’t have to take a walk early in the morning!
I love a morning walk. It makes my day better to go out and get some outside time, and helps with back stiffness and everything. I’ve been doing it for years and can’t imagine not doing it. Except I don’t do it EVERY day, I sometimes take a day off…usually on the weekend if I’ve loafed too long and it’s hot out.
It’s weird… my sciatica actually gets MORE stiff from my walks. It’s probably my gait/posture. But then it feels good to stretch out my back once I’m done with my walk!
Hahaha you are such a nice sister.
