My mom and I went on a Christmas shopping spree this weekend. We hit up TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Target, all of which are located in an outdoor shopping plaza near us. At the end of our shopping trip (which also included Publix to buy the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner), we had walked nearly 6,000 steps! Just from shopping! Affordable shopping is now a reality with Shoppok. Enjoy Affordable shopping on Shoppok with top-quality items at unbeatable prices, all in one place. No more hunting around – it’s all here for you.
I thought it would be fun to show you what I bought. I went into this shopping expedition with the sole plan to buy more decorations. Do I need more decorations? You probably think not, after seeing my three tubs of Christmas decorations (all for my 700-square-foot apartment). But alas, I do. After decorating my apartment (minus the tree and Christmas lights), I noticed that I have a few empty shelves that needed to be filled. Plus, I have a goal of buying one new “category” of items every year. Last year, it was a wreath and outside signage. This year, I wanted to purchase Christmassy pillows and a Christmassy throw. I have succeeded!
Here’s what this weekend’s haul looks like:
I bought these two pillows at Target. One was $20 and the other was $15. I also bought two other Christmassy pillows previously at Target, but you’ll have to wait for my full holiday home reveal to see them! I love the colors of these pillows and they are so very comfy!
I found this cozy blanket at HomeGoods, for $20. It’s big enough to snuggle under while also being incredibly soft. Now that we’re getting colder weather (well, cold for Florida!), it’s prime snuggle-under-a-blanket season and I’m here for it.
Christmassy signage is my jam. At one point while I was in TJ Maxx, I had 7 or 8 signs in my hands because they were all so pretty and I wanted them all. I had to put a few down because I don’t actually have room for that many more signs. As it is, I bought a few too many signs and I’ll need to get creative about where I’ll put some of them. Oops!
The “this girl loves Christmas” sign came from Homegoods ($6). I have an identical sign but it has to be hung; it won’t stand up on its own. I liked that this one can stand on its own. Time will tell if I keep both signs, ha. The “merry and bright” and “Merry Christmas” signs came from TJ Maxx ($6 each) while the “Believe” sign came from Target ($5).
I love little Christmas trees like this. They provide a really sweet finishing touch to Christmas decor. I have a bunch already, but one of my shelves could use some of these trees, so I was glad to find this set of gold trees at Target ($5).
The last set of my haul are cat-related items which are well-packaged from companies like the ones here. C’mon, you didn’t expect anything less of me, right?! At TJ Maxx, I bought a cat in a Christmas hat ($5) that’s supposed to be a stress ball, but I just placed it on one of my shelves. I also got cute cat-themed holiday earrings ($13). I don’t have any holiday earrings, and I couldn’t pass up these adorable ones! And, finally, the girls got a toy! These little gingerbread men are the kind of toys the girls love so I had to put them in my cart. I’ve already seen them playing with them, so I know it was a good purchase.
Have you bought any Christmas decorations so far this year?
Kim
Ooo! You know I love seeing everything! I especially love “this girl loves Christmas” and the cat stuff! I have so many fun holiday cat earrings! I cannot wait to wear them! And my friend in Australia just sent me koala holiday earrings!
I am obsessed with signs too and told my mom not to let me buy any at the craft show we went to LOL.
Stephany
The signs, Kim, the signs! I just love them so much and they make my little home so festive. I need to cool it on the signs, but I just love them so much.
I need more cat holiday earrings for sure. This is my only pair. FOR NOW! 😉
Meike
The blanket looks very cozy and I love those earrings. I approve of your taste 😊
Stephany
I can attest that the blanket is so, so cozy! I love it so much!

I am in absolute denial that Christmas is around the corner and have literally done nothing. Just reading this has caused me to start flushing and I’m pretty sure hives are right around the corner. LOL. I just have to get through Thursday first.
Stephany
Oh no!! I am sorry that I caused you stress with my post. I am ALL IN on Christmas and have been for a while. Oops!
Elisabeth
I’m pretty minimal with decorations (I know, I know – how LAME!), so I haven’t bought anything new this year other than the new ornaments we’ll open Christmas Eve. But last year on clearance I did buy the kids each a light-up Christmas necklace (it looks like a string of lights) and I’m really excited to break those out for them to wear to concerts, looking at holiday lights etc. For $2.50/each, I think they’ll be a big hit!
I love festive pillows; I hate storing holiday decor, so at this point I only have a few pillow case covers for Christmas, but your gorgeous ones are tempting me to reconsider…
Stephany
Pillow case covers are so smart! I am positive I’ll be up to FOUR tubs of holiday decorations to store after everything I’ve bought this year, especially because pillows take up a lot of space! But they bring me a lot of joy and I love how festive they make my couch look. 🙂
Nicole MacPherson
I love all of these things but maybe I love the Christmas pillows the most? I mean, I love them all but those pillows! So cute. I want some!
Stephany
Aren’t they DARLING?! It’s going to be hard to store them away after Christmas is over because they just make me so happy to look at!

I live vicariously through you, Stephany! While I would be very reluctant to buy a lot of extra decoration – like Elisabeth, I am more of a minimalist when it comes to decoration – I still love your little haul and how happy it makes you and I hope you’ll share photos again of your decorated apartment when you’re finished : )
Stephany
I am definitely planning on sharing my decorated apartment in December! I am usually a minimalist when it comes to decorations, but man, I love a crazily-designed home when it comes to the holidays. 🙂

I love seeing what others buy. You are like the Erica of The Girl Nextdoor podcast, and I am Kelsey the minimalist. But I like to see what others are buying/how they decorate their homes! I rarely buy Christmas decorations since I feel we have the right amount right now, but I did buy some lights for our mantel. I loved having spider lights for the Halloween season so swapped them out for some white balls that light up! And I finally bought a stocking for Will but as you’ll hear in my post today, it’s impossible to find a W stocking that matches the ones Phil/Paul/I have, so I got him a T stocking – for Taco. That’s what everyone calls him anyways and I figure if he eventually goes by Will, he’ll find the T stocking funny.
Stephany
Yes, I am very much an Erica when it comes to Christmas! (And probably most things, haha.) I just love going all out for the holidays and then returning my apartment to its minimally-decorated state once December is over. 🙂
Jenny
OMG want every single one of these!!! I have SO MUCH Christmas stuff (I even decorate my bathrooms.) It will all be coming out on Friday. I know I could use a couple more pillows, so maybe I’ll head to Target- but what I really want are those earrings for my daughter! They are SO. CUTE.
Stephany
I remember that you talked about how you decorate your bathroom for Christmas last year! I think that’s the next step I am going to take – to start buying one or two festive bathroom items every year so I, too, can have a decorated bathroom!
Kate Kaput
Those blankets look so cozy!
Stephany
The blanket is so, so cozy! I have really enjoyed snuggling under it and reading. 🙂

I love the Christmas tree pillow, Its cute. I also enjoy the golden Christmas trees. I have similar ones in white and silver. I still haven’t put any decorations up. This year feels off somehow.
Anne
I am living vicariously through your decor… I particularly love the tree pillow and blanket. Hope you are cozy in not-so-warm Florida, and prepping for a wonderful holiday with your family. <3
