This weekend kicked off on Friday afternoon with a wonderful nap and then a workout. I went for a 15-minute walk outside (it felt so nice outside!) and then did a 20-minute beginner strength-training workout on the Peloton app. The workout was pretty easy for me so I think I can punch up the intensity a bit higher, yay! And then I rewarded myself with pizza and cheesy bread. AS YOU DO.
Also on Friday, I checked my bank account and my stimulus check was deposited! Wahoo! I promptly spent $330 of it on… flea/heartworm medication for the girls. SIGH. Not a fun way to spend my stimulus (the rest of it is going into savings), but the girls needed their medication and I won’t have to worry about restocking my supply for 8 months at least.
Saturday was a busy, busy day! It started with the Florida Strawberry Festival, which I attended with Briana. We arrived early and spent a good four hours wandering around all the different booths of people selling handmade items, squealing over all the animals (cows and chickens), and eating strawberry shortcake, corndogs, cheesy fries, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a strawberry pickle! (The strawberry pickle was surprisingly delicious: tasted like a sour pickle but had a mildly sweet aftertaste.)
(Side note: I was pleasantly surprised by how many people wore face masks at the fairgrounds. Masks were required when inside any of the halls, but only highly encouraged when outside. I saw more people than I expected wearing them when they were outside. There were also sanitizing stations everywhere and staff in the public bathrooms to wipe down the stalls after every use.)
I got home around 3:45, took a long bath to soak my feet (we walked 8,000 steps!), and then read on the couch for a bit before it was time to go to my mom’s for game night. We had such a fun time playing the family edition of What Do You Meme (it’s basically Cards Against Humanity, but with memes as the so-called “black cards”). It was filled with a lot of fart and booger jokes, as would be appealing to kids (my 12-year-old nephew definitely got a kick out of lots of the cards!), but there were quite a few cards that made me die with laughter. It was a great time, though, with lots of crying laughter and new inside jokes formed.
Sunday was my day of rest. I slept in until 11 (well, 10 to my internal body alarm since we sprung forward), ate lunch, and then went grocery shopping. Afterwards, I took a nap on the couch that was perfectly delightful. The rest of Sunday was spent doing laundry, cleaning out my fridge (it was disorganized and driving me CRAZY), reading, and finishing season 2 of Superstore.
It was a weekend perfectly balanced between fun stuff, productive stuff, and lounge time. My ideal weekend!
How was your weekend?

That sounds like a really fun weekend! I love strawberries so would have enjoyed the strawberry festival! I’m glad we are entering strawberry season! Off season strawberries are very meh!
I hate daylight savings time so much. Losing an hour just sucks so much and it’s really hard on kids since they are on such set schedules. Paul was so tired when I got him up around 6:30 today. He kept saying ‘it’s really hard to open my eyes’. I was like me, too, buddy.

What a fantastic weekend! Perfect balance! It’s so fun when you make new inside jokes like that. The strawberry shortcake looks SO GOOD!
Does your vet tell you to give the cats those meds? We don’t give it to ours since they are indoor cats. Have they ever gotten fleas? (OMG I hope not. What a hellcycle to get rid of them)
My weekend was so so! It felt short and meh.

What a lovely weekend! Strawberries (mmm…), sun, sleep, family, friends, laughter… what more do we need?
