My birthday is a week from today. And I’ve spent this entire month trying to decide what I want to do. I’m usually not this indecisive when it comes to my birthday, but for some reason, I am this year.
I think the hardest thing about my birthday is that it’s on a Sunday. Sundays are not good for birthdays. I did take the day after my birthday off work, but I’m still not happy my birthday fell on a Sunday this year.
Basically, I don’t know what to do. I have two tentative ideas:
Idea #1: A Weekend Trip to Orlando
Friday night, my brother, my mom, and I (possibly my sister-in-law and nephew, as well) would go out to dinner at The Melting Pot (I’m still not sure a two-year-old could eat there…) My mom and I would leave on Saturday afternoon, check into the hotel, and hit up Sea World that evening. Sunday would entail one of the following theme parks: Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Disney World, or Epcot. I’m not sure which yet, but I could care less about the Harry Potter World. We would come back Monday.
The pros to this idea include a fun weekend away, where I could forget about all my school and work issues and just get away. SeaWorld has fun new holiday shows and I haven’t been to any of the above parks in years (I’ve actually never been to Epcot). Also, I love staying in hotels. It’s one of my favorite things.
The cons are that I have a test to study for and two papers to write, all due on Wednesday. This also means I wouldn’t get the camera I’ve been planning on for a few months now. Plus, my mom would have to shell out a lot of money for something like this (hotel stay, gas, two tickets to the theme park, food).
Idea #2: A Low-Key Birthday
This one would entail a trip to Target for a new camera, dinner at the same place on Saturday night, and hopefully my brother coming over to watch football with me the next day. A part of me wishes for a more exciting birthday, but it’s hard when your birthday falls on a Sunday.
The pros to this idea are that I get the camera that I really need, get to spend more time with my brother (and hopefully my sweet nephew!), will have plenty of time to work on my papers and study, and my mom wouldn’t spend as much money.
The cons are that it feels a little lame and I just feel like I’m being selfish with this decision. My mom would have much more fun with Idea #1. She wants me to do what I want to do, but I also want her to have a good weekend as well.
What do you think, readers? Help me choose! Leave your choice in the comments! I have no idea what to do!
Also, don’t forget to ask me a question for an upcoming vlog! You know you want to…

I personally like to go all out for my birthdays (why we did a big weekend trip away this year!) You'll never turn 23 again, remember?! 😉

This is a tough one! I'm the kind of person who can't relax until I know that things are taken care of- I might do both, have a low key birthday until my tests are all taken care of, and then do the road trip after! 🙂

Ooo, tough call… It's such a personal decision, though… I would lean towards #2 because I am more of a low key person and a camera is a gift that just keeps on giving, you know? 🙂
My birthday also falls on a Sunday – and Superbowl Sunday, at that. So yes, there will be parties, but it will be all about football…

From reading in between lines of your blog post it seems like you'd love #1 a bit more. If it's doable and won't break the bank, then I go for #1 🙂 Study really hard before and it can be reward!

I feel like on the annoyance of birthday days. Last year my birthday was on a Monday (worse than Sunday let me tell you!), I had to work all day and then I had an faculty meeting after work, and then I had to tutor. I got home at like 7 pm and I was like let's just pretend my birthday is another day. The year before that I had to attend a bridal shower on my birthday and celebrate my brother's graduation. My 21st birthday was on a Wednesday so even though my friends all got big celebrations at school, since it was summer and I was at home I went out to dinner with 4 friends- it was low key, but in hindsight it was fun.
I'd probably go for the trip to Disney if it were me. Normally I'm low key like Lisa and want to do as little as possible but when it comes to birthdays I'd pick to be like Amber- go all out 🙂 Just for some reason my June birthday means I'm always celebrating other people's things instead of my own- it's going to happen again this year. SO, since your birthday is next weekend I say go to Epcot. I LOVE Epcot. But whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have a great day!

Oh! They both sound so good. I would say go with your gut instinct!

I think you should do the low key birthday! Don't get me wrong, I love going all out, but I think if you go away for the weekend you'll come home even more stressed then before you left because you'll still have tons of work to do. You should do the low key thing, get your lovely camera, save some money and take the weekend trip when you have a free weekend and some extra cash saved up!

It all depends on your personality.
I love leaving where I live to be in a new atmosphere, so I'm prone to pick the one where you get outta town! Why not? It would be fun and a change-of-pace!

My birthday is two days after christmas, so I rarely get to DO much of anything, so I'm extremely jealous that you might get to go to Orlando. I can't believe you'd skip the Harry Potter experience, though. …Then again, I am obsessed.
Whatever you wind up doing, have fun! Happy Early Birthday!

If it was me, I'd probably go for low key and plan the trip for another time when it fit my schedule better. But, both sound like a lot of fun!

go to orlando!!!! why not??

I love the idea of number 2 … Number 1 sounds really fun (and I LOVE Epcot!), but #2 sounds like it would be less stressful (because you'd have time for school stuff and relaxation). That's just me, though! 🙂
My birthday falls on a Wednesday this year (Dec. 1st), so that's no fun! I won't be doing anything until the following weekend.

I'm late to the game, but I see that you've decided to go to Orlando–have a blast!!
