BOOKED!

During my class yesterday, I received this text message from my mom: “We are booked.”

I responded with, “Ahhh!!!” because I can’t believe it’s really happening! I’ve never been out of the Eastern time zone, much less in an entirely different country. My excitement level is through the roof!

We leave towards the end of May from Tampa and will be spending 5 days on our ship. We stop once at Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and then again at Cozumel, Mexico.

We’ve put a lot of thought into the ship, such as how long, where we want to go, what kind of room we want. (We booked an oceanview room.) We decided that we wanted to take it easy for our first cruise but did want to make two stops at two different places. So this was the perfect cruise for us and pretty cheap at under $400 a person!

We’ve been looking at shore excursions and we’re pretty set on going snorkeling in Cayman Islands. (Although my mom did admit she’s scared to snorkel. I told her it was a must.) There is really so much to choose from! Everything from scuba diving to swimming with dolphins to shopping to sightseeing. It’s crazy!

So here’s where you come in, dear readers! What advice do you have for a cruise-going virgin? Any must-dos while I’m in the Cayman Islands or Cozumel? Anything I need to know about the cruise ship, things to bring, etc.? I’m all ears!

Ooo, I am so excited for you! I have never been on a cruise, but went scuba diving in Aruba. I was scared at first, but after I got over my nerves (I had a great instructor who helped me out), it was SO. MUCH. FUN!!!

SO JEALOUS! Make sure you pack some sea-sickness medication JUST in case. It always depends on the ship you go on, but sometimes if you're on board for too long even the least motion-sickness type of people manage to start to feel it. So that is my absolute best advice for you. And, HAVE FUN!!! 🙂

I heart cruises!!! When in Grand Cayman, you have to visit Hell and the turtles!!! And eat as much as possible on the boat!

I've never been on a cruise, so I can't offer any advice beyond have lots and lots of fun!! And, I do think bringing motion sickness pills may be a good idea, just in case!! My friend and I were actually just talking yesterday about a cruise she went on a few years ago. She was telling me she had an amazing time and wants to go on another one, but she did feel the motion of the boat for the first day or two.

So much fun! I haven't been on a cruise since I was a senior in high school but I loved every minute of it. Enjoy the on-boat entertainment too; most of the time it's free and sometimes they have free drinks =) Bring lots of sunscreen + other sundries cause if you forget them, it's an arm and a leg on the boat to buy them. (Literally.) Apart from that take lots of pictures, treat yourself to an excursion or two, and just have fun!

Ahh! So excited for you! I've never been on a cruise, so I have no idea what to tell you. However – my parents took this exact cruise and they. loved. it. And yes, you must go to Hell!

Oooo this is so exciting!!! I've been on one cruise to the western Caribbean (with Royal Caribbean) and it was amazing. But you know, while the excursions were fun and everything I just wanted to stay on the ship! They have so many fun things to do and it's like a giant hotel. When you do go on excursions, snorkeling, kayaking, or renting some sort of ATV is really fun!

This is so exciting! I got pretty unexpected seasickness on the cruise I went on in high school, so I'd definitely bring along some sort of motion sickness remedy, just in case. The thing that got me was when I reached across the dinner table for a roll & the basket of bread slid across the table! Vomit.

Take advantage of fun things on the boat when you're not in a port – there was a theater on my boat, so we went to a couple of shows, & the food is GREAT. Just enjoy your time & relax! <3

I've never really wanted to go on a cruise until I started thinking about my honeymoon. But I'm not much of a Caribbean person, so I wanted to go to Europe, but those are mega expensive, especially in the summer. Maybe we'll do a winter cruise somewhere…

What an amazing price – sounds like you got a great deal! I bet you can't wait for May to arrive! I've never been on a cruise, so I don't have any useful advice, but remember to bring your camera so you can post LOTS of pictures for us when you return!! 🙂

Our Senior cruise in highschool stopped at the same 3 places. The Cayman's were the most beautiful! Don't forget to go to Carlos and Charlie'S in Cozumel!!!

I've never been on a cruise so I have no experience to offer, but I'm so excited for you! Take lots of sunblock – and I think there's a medicine (you'd have to get a prescription from your doctor) other than dramamine that has the same effect but doesn't make you sleepy…might be something to check into!

Awesome! I've never been on a cruise, never thought I'd be the "type" to go on a cruise, but after a friend of mine practically swooned over the experience, I'd very much like to try….

An ocean-view from your room sounds really pretty. And I bet snorkling is going to be great! Are you going over spring break?

OH MY GOODNESS!! This is soooo exciting 🙂 I've never been on a cruise – mostly because the thought of it makes my anxiety go crazy, but I wish I could stop at all those cool places. You're going to have so much fun 🙂 I'm going to Mexico on Saturday so I totally feel your excitement!!! YAAAAYYYY WAHOOOOO VACATIONNNNN

How exciting! I've never been on a cruise, but I'm sure it will be a blast! I love water, and I love hotels, so the marriage of the two sounds amazing.
