Feeling… much less anxious. Hooray! I started my new regimen of 30mg of Lexapro in early January so I’m finally over that 6-week hump of waiting for the dosage boost to kick in. I have had so many nights where I think to myself, “Hey! You’re not having any anxiety tonight!” I’m still having small moments of panic, but they are usually caused by something (like my mom not answering her phone, lol). But the unending weight of anxiety is not my constant companion anymore and holy fuck, that feels so good.
Watching… season 3 of Brooklyn 99. I’m doing another rewatch because apparently, it’s all about comfort TV for me these days. Problematic glorification of cops aside, I love this show so much. It makes me laugh and makes me feel good.
Listening to… Sounds Like a Cult. This is such a fun podcast! Amanda Montell (who wrote the book Cultish) and her friend Isa sit down every week to talk about a different mainstream “cult.” And most of these cults aren’t true cults, but rather pop culture phenomenons that can be a little cult-like. For example, fraternities and sororities, flat earthers, astrology, Disney adults, etc. I recently listened to an episode about Trader Joe’s that was enlightening about the company’s corporate practices. Anyway, give it a listen if you care!
Grateful… that I didn’t break my neck when I slipped and fell getting into my tub to take a shower last week. Ugh, I felt like such a dweeb falling in the shower. I ended up banging my knee and shin really hard against the edge of the tub. It was so painful! I was really worried I had done something awful to my knee. Thankfully, it’s fine but a nice, 4-inch bruise has bloomed and it’s very sore and painful to the touch. I’m taking things easy while I heal and may invest in a non-slip mat because apparently, I’m too geriatric to be taking a shower on my own.
Anticipating… doing time logging next month! I did my first time-logging week last year and it was really interesting to see where my time goes during a typical week. I set a reminder in my phone to log the same week in 2023, and it will be interesting to see how things compare! Be on the lookout for the past sometime in late March or early April.
Loathing… that it’s already getting hot here in Florida. The high on Saturday was 83! When I got into my car in the morning, the temperature inside was 98 degrees. That is unacceptable for the end of February. I am not ready for shorts and tanktops and pool parties just yet.
Thinking about… how to use my wellness reimbursement. This year, my company has given us $500 to use on all kinds of wellness-related products. From Apple Watches and massage memberships to books and audiobook subscriptions. I am very tempted to spend my entire $500 on books alone, but I’ve been trying to think about the best way to use this reimbursement. One of my colleagues got a Peloton bike and between a sale they were running and the reimbursement, she’s only paying $700 out of pocket for the bike! Can you imagine? And they were also offering no-interest financing for a year so she has the entire year to pay that $700. I’ve also been thinking about seeing a nutritionist, so that’s another option. What to do, what to do…
Needing… to figure out my necklace storage options. I recently bought a new jewelry organizer (different than the one I had a few months ago, which wasn’t working for me) and I love it for the way it holds my earrings, but it doesn’t have enough spaces for my necklaces (nor are the spaces tall enough to hold my longer necklaces). So I guess I need a separate jewelry organizer for my necklaces and Antique rings. I love having them displayed since that helps me see what I have and make sure I’m not wearing the same few necklaces over and over again. How do you keep your necklaces organized?
Buying… breakfast every Friday morning. This has become a new little treat for me that I am loving. I already look forward to Fridays, but now I look forward to them even more! Most Fridays, I stop into Einstein’s Bagels for an everything bagel and an iced vanilla latte, but I will admit that I have been known to get a sausage egg mcmuffin from McDonald’s some Fridays. It’s my favorite breakfast of all! (I eat like a child.)
Loving… being able to check in on my cats when I’m out. I love having a pet camera to do a quick peek on the girls when I’m not home. I can get anxious when I’m away from them, just worrying that I left the straightener on or something silly like that. So it’s nice to see that a) the apartment hasn’t burned down in my absence and b) the girls are just fine.
What are you currently anticipating and watching?

I’m so happy you’re finding the change to you medicines to be helpful! Yay! Living better through modern medicine is definitely the way to go.
I have a photo frame that has wire running horizontally and vertically through it that I use s-hooks on to hold my necklaces (and a couple of pairs of dangly earrings). It’s similar to this from Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/listing/755438883/white-jewelry-organizer-wall-earing-and?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=necklace+holder&ref=sr_gallery-1-11&pro=1&frs=1&sts=1&organic_search_click=1). It is not really big enough for all my necklaces and since I rarely wear necklaces, I really need to think about minimizing my jewelry collection. Ha!
Stephany
Ooh, I don’t know why but looking at jewelry organizers on Etsy never even crossed my mind! I should do a deep dive and see what I can find. The jewelry organizer you linked is very similar to my old organizer. I really liked having the hooks at the bottom for my necklaces!

I used to listen to Sounds Like A Cult, but haven’t for a long while. It got a bit too repetitive for my liking but I should probably check back and see if anything strikes my fancy.
Oooooh, I have to say, I love my Peloton bike!
I am so glad you have got your medication that works and your anxiety is so much less!
Stephany
I can definitely see how Sounds Like a Cult could get repetitive, and I think some of the episodes are stretching the theme of the podcast a bit! They just released an episode about Peloton that I can’t wait to listen to. I looove Peloton but I also can’t get enough of the juicy BTS gossip about the trainers and the company, lol.

I am so happy to hear that the new med dose is working well for you! The waiting period for meds to kick is can feel soooo long! So I am thrilled that you are noticing a difference! I’ve been wondering how you are doing so thank you for that update!
I love that your company gives you $500 to spend! What a cool benefit! We earn rewards throughout the year and this reminds me that I have some money to spend! So I need to figure out what to do with my money. I usually just buy amazon gift cards but I should do something a little different this time (plus I don’t love amazon so am trying to not buy as much there going forward…)
Stephany
It feels so good to feel good finally! I just had a call with my psychiatrist and it was nice to have a good report for her. Yay!
Jenny
Yes, what is up with our weather??? I just looked at our forecast and it’s supposed to get up to 92 on Saturday, WHAT. That’s way too hot for this time of year- I’m not happy about this.
That is very cool about your wellness reimbursement! I also would have trouble deciding what to spend it on (and would have to resist the urge to go on a huge Barnes and Noble spending spree- but how fun would that be???)
Glad you’re feeling better! And I love all the photos of your girls. You can never have too many cat photos!
Stephany
The summer is going to be brutal, Jenny! Let’s hope we can make it through. It was so nice to be able to walk outside in the middle of the day and not start sweating immediately. Thankfully, we’re not getting AS hot here – most highs are in the low 80s or upper 70s – but I know it’s coming for us.
Kim
OMG I am so glad the meds have kicked in and you are feeling better! YAY YAY YAY!!!! What a great feeling!
Ooo, Sounds Like a Cult sounds so good! I see the newest episode is on Peloton!
I am glad your knee is healing and glad it wasn’t worse 🙁
I have several places I store necklaces because I have so many! One is a board with cute knobs that Steven built, and the other two are jewelry cases (one that sits on the counter and one that mounts on the wall).
Which camera do you use for the cats? That would be fun to have!
We are currently watching The Last of Us. I am anticipating our trip to LA next week!
Stephany
This is the camera I have: https://www.amazon.com/Kasa-Smart-Home-Security-Camera/dp/B08GHX9G5L/
I am very tempted to get one for my bedroom, too, because sometimes the girls sleep in there so if they are, I won’t see them on my camera!
San
Well, you know what I am going to say about the $500 wellness reimbursement, haha, but a Peloton is only worth it if you think you’re going to use it.
I would definitely love to hear any recs for a jewelry/necklace organizer. Mine are always tangled up. LOL
Stephany
I am very tempted to buy a Peloton finally! I’ve been using my spin bike regularly since I bought it 2 years ago, so I know the Peloton would get used (and maybe even MORE than I use my spin bike since it’s so much better, haha). Decisions, decisions.
Anne
Oh, the first bullet made my day, Stephany. I am so glad that you no longer feel the weight of your anxiety 24/7. I am so glad you are feeling better. I am SO GLAD you took the initiative and asked for *what you need*. You didn’t let that horrible doc keep you down. So, yay, you, and oh, I am so, so happy to read this.
Also, dude, you and I are both going to kill ourselves in the shower, apparently. Yikes. Maybe I should invest in non-slip mat, too…
I keep my necklaces organized… well, they’re in a box, stretched out, does that count? I usually wear one for a year+ and then switch only when I feel like I need to represent something different. Right now -and for the past, hm, 2+ years? it’s been the Tree of Life. Before that, I used various necklaces depending on my mood. I got a few new ones last summer but have yet to rotate them in. So I am No Help At All. 🙂
