1 – Meeting and snuggling with Eleni! She is so wee and adorable.
I was also able to properly prank my mom for April Fools’ Day! I pretended that our favorite massage therapist was quitting. She bought it hook, line, and sinker and I was elated that I could prank her. Tehehe.
2 – Doing the SPCA Pet Walk with the dogs. They seemed to have a lot of fun and were so good around the other dogs.
3 – Meeting up with my cousin and her two-year-old daughter for a park date.
4 – A really good therapy intake with a new therapist. I felt very comfortable with her, and we even connected over books and reading.
5 – A quick and relatively painless mole removal. I expected to have some pain once the numbing agent wore off at night, but it was only a tiny bit achy and some ibuprofen took care of that.
6 – Having my mom come over to change my bandage and spending some time with her. My mole removal is in an awkward place (lower back) so it’s hard for me to change the bandage myself.
7 – A rainy day. It was so lovely to work inside with the rain falling outside. Loved it!
8 – Being able to snag an emergency dental appointment. I am grateful that I was able to get x-rays done and find out that my gum pain isn’t anything serious. However, I’m super bummed that their next appointment availability isn’t until mid-May. (NOTE: Holy crap. If I had kept that appointment, I would still be dealing with super painful gums when eating.)
9 – Game night with the fam! We introduced my youngest nephew to What Do You Meme? and he thought it was a RIOT. (We use the family edition, which has lots of humor perfect for 7-year-old boys.)
10 – A randomly cold day! (It was in the low 50s when I woke up, and that was such a delightful surprise.)
11 – Meeting my mom for dinner. We had such a lovely time together. I love being with her.
12 – Ordering grocery delivery. A combination of a busy workday, specific food I really needed, and being lazy led me to just ordering grocery delivery, which I usually only do when I’m sick and can’t get to/shouldn’t be at the store.
This beauty loves to take naps on the stairs outside my apartment. She’s a neighbor’s cat and well cared for, but I also want to steal her!
13 – A night with my mom! We ordered pizza, played some games of rummy, and watched Survivor together.
14 – Finding a new dentist’s office and being able to snag an emergency dental cleaning. They solved my gum irritation and it was so nice to be able to enjoy pizza with Bri later that evening and have zero mouth pain. Yayyyy!
15 – Taking a nice long nap and then going on a nice long walk.
16 – Taking the dogs to Salty Paws and watching them enjoy their ice cream. Cutie patooties!
17 – Easter Sunday. My mom, stepdad, and I went out for brunch (my mom and I had delicious watermelon mimosas!) and then I took a nice long nap afterward.
18 – Helping one of my writers recover 12 pages of lost content. I’m so glad I was able to help!
19 – Getting my stitches out and being able to take my first bubble bath in two weeks. Ahhh!
20 – Book club night! Mikaela came with Eleni and we all took turns snuggling her. What’s better than that?
21 – Mom and I spontaneously booked a cruise today for my birthday in November. Our first cruise since 2019! Wahoo!
22 – A wonderful massage. I am so glad I have figured out a way to make massages comfortable and relaxing for me (for me, the key is to ask for a light, light touch).
23 – Bri and I spent most of the afternoon working on our podcast. She figured out all the techy stuff like how to record through her computer with two different mic setups and then we recorded our trailer episode.
24 – Ellie’s birthday! She turned 4 today and we celebrated with wet food and presents.
25 – A dinner date with Mom. Always a fave!
26 – A-midmorning walk in 72 degrees. It’s so nice to have these tiny glimpses of nice spring weather. (But by 10am, it’s over 85 degrees with an extreme UV index and just… ugh.)
27 – I felt very blah today and unmotivated by work. I just wanted to lay in my bed and read and nap! I was tempted to order Ubereats for dinner but I forced myself to make dinner for myself. A great decision because the recipe turned out excellent and the act of cooking lifted my spirits!
28 – Playing with the cats brings me so much joy because it brings them so much joy. I need to do it with them more.
29 – Eating a Screamin’ Sicilian pizza and watching episodes of Get Organized with The Home Edit on Netflix. I don’t know what it says about me that I love that show so much!
30 – Recording a full podcast episode! It was so much fun. I really didn’t expect this creative venture to be as fun as it has been. Another highlight of this day was watching the livestream of The Popcast’s live show in Dallas. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt!
Tell me a highlight of April for you!
Rebecca Jo
OHHH – a podcast – fun stuff!
Stephany
It’s been so fun dreaming it up and starting the recording process!
Nicole MacPherson
I’m so excited about your podcast! When will it be “dropping?”
Stephany
We’re not sure yet! Most likely sometime in July. We want to record a bunch of episodes before putting it out into the world. 🙂

That top pic of Eleni is too much. All of my friends seem to be done having babies and I’m slightly bitter about this (joking…mostly) because I just need a newborn snuggle!!! Sigh. So glad you’re fitting in these snuggles. Enjoy them all 🙂
Hmm. My April highlight was probably walking the Haunted Woods Trail at the Anne of Green Gables Museum. It gave me chills!
Stephany
Eleni is so squishy and small and makes all of those sweet newborn noises. Ugh, I just love her so much! I love that I can get in all of the newborn snuggles without any of the work. 😉

It’s such a delightful way to commemorate each month by writing a little something wonderful about each day. It’s inspirational to me that you’re able to find joy in something every day!
Stephany
It’s not always easy to find the tiny bits of joy in every day – especially hard days or really boring days. But this exercise is proof that there is always SOMETHING to smile about!

Eleni is sooo cute! And so teeny! Glad you got some snuggles in. There’s nothing like snuggling a new baby. They are so squishy and sleepy and are happy in anyone’s arms. That stage can be so fleeting!
It’s funny that you were excited about a low of 50 in the morning and I was pleased if our HIGH reached 50 in April. It was a bum month for weather. But get this – it’s going to be in the 80s next week! So we are just skipping straight to summer I guess. Way to go, Minnesota. But I’ll take it. 80s is better than 30-40s for me. And more sunshine is so good for my mood and outlook on life!
But back to April – a highlight was getting Will down to one afternoon nap! It took some work but now he is solidly napping for about 2 hours most weekend days which means I can often nap!
Stephany
Isn’t it funny how relative the weather can be? These days, I get excited if I wake up to a morning below 70F! And in Minnesota, I know it feels good if the weather warms UP to that!
Eleni is truly at the perfect stage for snuggling. And she’s just a happy, easy baby! It does remind me how fast babies grow up, though, because it didn’t seem that long ago that I was snuggling newborn Olive and now she’s two-and-a-half!

When I was in my apartment last year, the apartment I was in was on a river, and I almost always kept the sliding glass door open during the day. I especially loved keeping it open during a rain shower or thunderstorm. Unless it got really aggressive and rain started to splash inside. That happened a couple of times, haha. But I love hearing the sounds of the outdoors during the day.
Stephany
I wish I could leave my patio door open during the day! (Well, maybe not these days since it’s getting into the 90s in the afternoon, sigh.) I need a screened-in patio so I can better enjoy the weather!
Kim
Eleni is so sweet! And I love that you pranked your mom! Buahahhaahh!
OMG What Do You Meme is such a riot! Yay for them having a junior version so you can play with your nephew!
I bet that writer was so grateful you helped them recover the lost content. WTG, Stephany!!!!
I know I’ve been saying this to you for a long time but I need to play with our cats more too!
I am so glad you enjoyed the Popcast Live Show! I didn’t watch it, I should have!
My April highlight was my sister’s shower and my girls trip to KC!
Stephany
It was such a delight to prank my mom! She’s gotten me good on April Fools’ pranks before, so I was happy to be able to pull this one off!
I really want to play the adult version of What Do You Meme! The junior version has lots of toilet humor, haha.

I love the format of this monthly recap – so nice to recap each day with a couple of sentences about something that stood out.
I am glad you got your gum pain resolved. That must have been so irritating and annoying.
Stephany
That gum pain was the worst! It makes me so scared to eat popcorn again and I LOVE popcorn!
Jenny
When will we be able to listen to this podcast??? I’m in a podcast rut right now and would love a new one!
Glad the mole removal went well and your gum pain was resolved! It sounds like a great month. My favorite moment of your month was definitely when you took the dogs for ice cream- that was unbelievably cute!!!
Stephany
We’re hopefully going to release it sometime in July! We want to build up a buffer of episodes first, and we have to work our recording time around our schedules. 🙂
Anne
As I mentioned, yours may be the ONE non-sports podcast that I choose to listen to. (Of course, if you’re talking only about historical romances, then I might pass… not my thing… [and of course I have NO IDEA If this podcast will focus on books, but just throwing my disclaimer out into the world right now…])
Also, newborns are the best snugglers. You can pass them around and they just melt into whoever is holding them. It’s the best. So glad your friends share. 🙂 (Plus, then you can hand them back if things go haywire…Ha!)
I love how 50 is cold to you. 🙂
Stephany
The podcast will NOT be about books! So there’s that.
Weather is so relative, isn’t it? What’s cold to me is nothin’ to you, but what’s hot to you probably feels like nothin’ to me! Ha!
