1. It’s that time of the year! Time to plan my 2013 cruise. I was thinking about forgoing a cruise next year (based on some comments I received after my second cruise) but when I sat down and thought about it, I realized this was my life and my vacation! If I love to cruise, I should go on cruises! I’m only 24, I have plenty of time to travel the world and see different sights. I have an intense love for cruising and nothing gets me more excited than planning for and anticipating boarding another ship. I feel at home on ships. It is where I feel the most alive. So I spent this week researching May 2013 cruises and deciding, along with my mom, exactly what tropical destinations we want to visit. We settled on a few (our favorites being Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Aruba) and it’s just been so exhilarating to begin the planning process and imagine what our fourth cruise will look like. Time to start saving!
2. Dutch did better with his separation anxiety this week. We bought him a toy, but he’s not very interested in it. (Possibly because we filled it with kibble and not a treat?) He was quiet on Wednesday and Thursday when we came home so I’m not sure what helped! He’s getting more exercise, but hopefully, he’s just getting used to the new place. I also spoke to my downstairs neighbor on Saturday about it and she’s not upset, just concerned for Dutch. So that’s good! We’re trying not to announce when we leave and try not to make a huge deal when we come home and find him crying. So we’ll see how he does next week. Stay tuned!
3. I’m starting Gone Girl this weekend, for our October #twookclub chat. Our numbers at the chats have been low lately, so I’m hoping to see a bunch of faces at October’s chat! Gone Girl is a super popular book right now so I’m hoping that will help and I think it’ll make for a GREAT discussion. Also, voting for our November book closes on Sunday so get your vote in if you haven’t yet.
4. Thank you ALL for your advice on my last post. It was one of those posts that was so cathartic for me to write and I appreciate all the advice given, as I’m going into this new journey with blinders on. I have no idea what to expect and I’m a bit terrified of talking to someone I don’t know and laying out my problems. I don’t do that. But in order to grow and figure out how to stop the cyclical behavior, I have to start speaking up and being open. Here’s to a new journey!
5. Friday couldn’t get here soon enough! I have a fun weekend ahead of me: a 3K Pet Walk with Dutch in downtown St. Pete (still trying to decide if I want to dress him up. And no, he will not be a hot dog. Or a taco.), doing some shopping (yay for bonuses!), and carving a pumpkin. It may not feel like fall at all outside (oh, 80-degree temps, how I am starting to loathe you!) but I’m doing all I can to embrace this season. Happy weekend!

You’re making me really miss Churro, my old roommate’s chubby chihuahua! Wish I could snuggle with that little guy.
And you are so right…find a vacation style that is right for you. There is no “one way” to have a vaycay. Just your way!

YAY VACATIONS! I’m so jealous. I’d love to say that I’ll be able to afford traveling again this summer but it doesn’t look great. Although if I’m being realistic I’d rather go into debt than NOT travel.
LMAO DUTCH AS A TACO. CAN YOU PLEASE. That just made my morning!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Just reading about you planning another cruise makes me want to go on one SO BADLY! I’m going to have to sit down and see if I can fit on into my schedule next summer. They are so much fun!

My sister wants to go on a cruise next year! I’ve still yet to go on one!

I’d love to go on a cruise! In fact we talked about it during our honeymoon last week as we saw some cruise ships heading to Cozumel on an almost daily basis 🙂 (We weren’t that far from the island I guess.)
If you want to chat about counseling/therapy I’m here; I didn’t talk about it much but I went to see someone once a week for the first six months of this year and it helped me so much (and still is helping even though I’m not going anymore).
Miss you and would love to catch up soon!
Kristen
I’m sad I keep missing #twookclub! Schedule has been crazy and have to miss this month’s too 🙁

Have fun planning your cruise! I’m currently planning my first (and Eric’s second) all-inclusive beach vacation to Mexico or the Dominican in February and I’m SO EXCITED about it!!! I am scouring websites for deals though because we’re not paying full price. haha. Planning trips is the best!

I’m 100 pages into Gone Girl and I’m very much interested in it right now so it’s killing me I can’t just spend all day reading and have actual work to do, ha.

I got more than halfway through this month before realizing I didn’t even know what the October book was. :-/ However, I went to the group page and voted on The Casual Vacancy for November since I’m already a third of the way through it. But there were some good choices for November, all around. 🙂 Also, I saw Dutch’s little Halloween shirt, and loved it. He looked so cute. I’m glad y’all had a good time doing the Pet Walk.

My brother went to the Dominican Republic for his honeymoon in June and they LOVED it. I think you’d enjoy it! They did a lot of cool things – dune buggys, cave swimming, etc.
My fiance and I are considering a cruise for our honeymoon next October. If we decide on a cruise, I’ll have to e-mail you for some tips! 🙂
I hope the walk with Dutch was fun! It sounds like a good time.

I put Gone Girl on hold at the library but have not gotten it yet! I am not sure I am going to make it in time. My friend dressed her dog as an ice cream sunday. It was pretty ridiculous. And funny.

I hope you enjoy Gone Girl. I thought it was such a fast, engaging read! I do plan to make this month’s meeting as I will not be traveling that sunday – unlike the last 2 Twookclubs!!
