1) I joined a new dating website. Sorta. It’s called HowAboutWe.com. Has anyone heard of it? It’s touted as the “offline dating site” where people submit date ideas and if the date and/or person seems interesting to you, you tell them you are “intrigued.” I don’t know what happens from there because it’s not a free website – you have to pay to message with people and set up dates. (Anywhere from $12 to try it for a month or $60 to try it for a year.) But I really love the concept. I’ve been feeling a bit disenchanted by OK Cupid lately. I feel like I waste so much time and effort getting to know these guys – spending weeks and weeks messaging and texting, only to go on a date and not feel anything. I’d rather get that date over first and be able to move on! (Does anyone feel me on this?) I may pay the $12 fee to use it for one month, just to see what it’s all about and put myself out there.
2) Who else got an email from Amazon about getting a Kindle credit, due to their antitrust settlement? I was pretty excited to see I got an $18.50 credit to my account! I guess that year I spent over $650 on Kindle books wasn’t for naught! (Yes, that happened. No, I’m not proud of it.)
3) On Saturday, Dutch had his yearly teeth cleaning and his biyearly comprehensive exam. He had no issues with his teeth cleaning (still has all his teefers!) and all his blood work came back fine. He is developing cataracts, which is something my mom and I have already noticed. (My nephew says he has “bad guy eyes!”) He seems to get around just fine, but there are times when he’s looking for me and can’t find me and get scared, which is really sad and heartbreaking. But he runs up and down our stairs like they ain’t no thing. And for a 12-year-old pup, to come back with clean blood work results? I couldn’t ask for anything more.
4) I’m joining a DietBet for April! My friend Amber is hosting one that starts April 7th and ends May 4th (the Friday before I leave on my cruise! Hello, perfect timing!). I’ve never done a DietBet before, but have always wanted to so I’m excited to begin. In this DietBet, we have to lose 4% of our starting weight in 4 weeks, which amounts to around 7 lbs for me. Totally doable! If you’d like to join, there’s plenty of time! Go here and sign up.
5) Happy, happy, happy Friday! This week has been long, a bit stressful, but I am ending it on a high note and that’s all I can ask for. My weekend plans involve knocking off some pesky to-do’s (like washing and vacuuming my car and dropping off a bag of clothes at Goodwill), and I’m hoping to fit in a shopping trip (I’m on the hunt for a shoe organizer, as well as some dress pants for work and a swimsuit cover-up!).
Happy weekend! Any fun weekend plans for you?

I might think about the DietBet. This weekend I’m doing fondue with the boys, yard work and gardening, and then taking them to the Oldsmar carnival. A much more laid back weekend than usual. I hope this weekend is rejuvenating for all of us; it seems like it’s been a tough week.

I’m Amber (the one hosting it!) and you should definitely definitely join! I’ve also started a Facebook group where we can post about our workouts, healthy recipes and generally motivate each other! You can still sign up for the DietBet here 🙂 http://www.dietbet.com/girlwiththeredhair

I had thought about trying HowAboutWe but it seemed like there weren’t a lot of people on it in Minneapolis… But I think it’s an interesting concept. I understand your frustration about exchanging texts and emails and then meeting and having no spark. So because of that, when I was briefly on OKC before I met Phil, I would cut right to the chase and try to get a low pressure date like a coffee date scheduled instead of sending messages back and forth and wasting each other’s time. Because you can totally connect over email and then it can fizzle in person. So maybe try to take that approach in the future? I know it might seem scary to jump into a date right away but it would save you some time/frustration…
This past week was stressful for me. There was some good stress and good things that happened but I feel pulled in a million directions and am really anxious about the month ahead of me. But this weekend I am heading to Savannah which I am super excited about! It looks like it will be really rainy, but I am still excited for a change of scenery.

this week has just been nutty for everyone. I’m not sad to see it go, not at all! I received like $3 from Barnes & Noble for my eBook settlement. But hey, $3 is $3, right?
I hope you have an awesome weekend 🙂

I want to sign up for the DietBet but I would need to lose 1.5lbs a week which seems unattainable at the moment. Still pondering it! Glad to hear Dutch made out well at his appointment – hopefully his eyes don’t get any worse!
No weekend plans other than workouts. I want to make blueberry banana muffins at some point over the next couple days.

I was just reading about HowAboutWe on A Cup of Jo and it sounded cute. Joanna is actually married but I guess you can still use it? Or maybe they have one for couple? Anyway, I hope it works out for you! It certainly sounds like a cute idea, although it wasn’t around when I was online dating. Let us know how it goes!

I’m so glad it’s Friday, my weekend is a whole lot of to-dos also. Like cleaning and napping. I need a lot of naps, ha.

Oh! I totally ignored that Amazon email. Turns out I have $29.22 in credit! Thanks for this post that inspired me to read the email & figure it out. 🙂

I have never heard of that dating website, but I think it is a good concept. I mean, it’s it better just to meet and get it over with? If it doesn’t work, you can move on, instead of wasting time with tons of emails. I find at work if I call someone up, rather than emailing or writing a letter, I get so much more accomplished much more quickly. You can assess whether or not you are on the same page right away and then take it from there.

Hi. 🙂 I’m going to catch up on your blog now!

YAY! So glad you joined the DietBet. I am actually EXCITED about “dieting” for the first time in awhile because it will be so fun for us to all motivate each other!
Oh and that dating site sounds really cool! Can’t wait to hear about your experience on it.
