1. The US Olympic Trials for gymnastics started yesterday. I haven’t really been following any of the other Trials because holy moly, there are a lot. I actually started looking at all the different swimming and track & field options and started freaking out. (Yes, I take the Olympics very seriously.) So I decided I’m just going to watch the gymnastics portion of the Olympic Trials. That’s all I can handle right now. (And can we please talk about the size of Jake Dalton’s biceps? PLEASE? He looks like Popeye. Heyyyyy there.)
2. I have a haircut scheduled for tomorrow. I’m still debating whether I want to chop it into a shorter style (closer to chin-length) or start growing it out again. I found this hairstyle on Pinterest which I love… but I’m not sure I could make it look like that every day. Oh, decisions.
3. Coming home from the cruise was quite the experience! The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was shut down due to the high winds, which is the bridge the cruise ship goes under to get back to Tampa. So the ship had to drop anchor in the middle of the ocean around 4:00AM and wait it out. We ended up not getting back to Tampa until 10:00AM (when we should have been back at 6:30) and I was four hours late for work. It was a crazy day, for sure! But I’m also so happy that Carnival took so many precautions for our safety.
4. I’ve been looking more and more into taking a long weekend in NYC for my birthday. I went as far as signing up for flight alerts on Kayak. I’ve been perusing hotel prices, looking into what I’d want to do, and trying to piece it all together. It’s just so much fun to plan and envision what you want out of your dream destinations! (And yes, NYC is a dream destination for me. I am not well-traveled at all, if you didn’t know.) The sad thing is that I’ll probably spend just as much (if not more) for 3 days in NYC as I did on my 6-day cruise. That, my friends, is why I love cruising oh so much.
5. I’ve been having a lot of regrets lately. I’m not a stranger to them, but the feeling that I may have screwed up something really good for my life because I let my fears get the best of me is not a fun emotion at all. (And how’s THAT for ending my Friday post on a bummer note?)

Let me know if you come to visit NYC! It may be a bit expensive but it’s worth it 🙂 Also, I love that haircut! I agree though that look would probably require blowdrying everyday at the very least – I’m so lazy with my hair I need something that takes 2 seconds to style in the morning, which is why I keep it long!
Stephany
I will! I’m still trying to figure out if I can afford it. It would be a huge chunk and I have a move coming up + surgery to get my wisdom teeth removed so I need to be smart about what I can afford. If not, I may come in the Spring! But we’ll definitely have to meet if I ever get up there. 🙂

1- Those biceps are terrifying LOL
2- That is a SUPER CUTE BOB HAIRCUT OMG. I wish I could pull that off. I think you’d look fantastic in it, but didn’t you just cut your hair and regret it?!
3- Dear God cruising is terrifying
4- You’re going to have the best time in NYC. One of my good friends has a house just outside of NYC and just invited me to go for a long weekend in September basically for free which is the only reason I agreed (I am BROKE)… because NYC is crazy expensive. If you look at hotels in New Jersey you’ll save a lot of money, it’s just annoying for travel… But saves money which is good. Otherwise I recommend staying near Times Square, it’s technically more pricey but you literally walk out your door and you have EVERYTHING at your fingertips. That’s where I stayed my first time in NYC & it was the best experience ever because we could stay out and not worry about how we were getting home, we just walked EVERYWHERE.
5- Stop it. I need to answer your e-mail. You’re over thinking it WAY too much and I wouldn’t let you make any other decision. Seriously. I wouldn’t approve. 🙂
Stephany
I think we’ve decided to stay in NYC if we go, mainly because we’re not well-versed in getting around the city and it would make things easier. (Plus, we won’t be spending as much on food/shopping so it could even itself out in the end.) I just need to sit down and figure out my finances first. With a move and other things coming up, it may not happen until Spring or next Fall. But we’ll see! It’s fun to play around with, anyway. 🙂

I am sorry you are having so mnay regrets. What do you think would help you get past them?
I wondered about you getting home safely from that cruise! Glad to hear you did!
I have not been following ANY of the trials very closely. It will be hard enough with the actual Olympics. I am excited!
When is your birthday? I am going to NYC next month. Can’t wait! Hope you get to go!
Stephany
Thanks, Kim! I think it helps to find perspective and I think I did over the weekend (re: my regrets). I like to overanalyze situations. 🙂
My birthday isn’t until late November. I really want to make it to NYC but man, it is EXPENSIVE!
Nora
Welcome home! Glad you made it safely 🙂
NYC is one of my favorite cities ever… even though I haven’t been in like nine years. I need to get back there. (Confession: I still want to elope to NYC…)
Stephany
There’s still time! Haha. Wedding planning not turning out what you hoped it would be?
I’m thinking NYC might be more of a possibility in April than November, since my mom & I are also moving at the end of September and it would be nice to have a longer time in NYC than a short weekend. But I am totally going to NYC within the next year!

I LOVE that hairstyle you linked to! And I think it wouldn’t be too hard to make it look similar to that every day. The inverted bob is a pretty easy and quick look. I had something similar to that at one point where my bob was longer on one side and I really liked it!
Hope you have a good weekend!

You really should have posted a Kleenex warning before this post—those biceps are drool-worthy! I’m so, so, so excited about the Olympics. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! I can hear the chanting now.
Your trip to NYC sounds fabulous—it’s a place I think everyone should go once. (And that’s all I’ve ever been. Though I’d love to go back.) You’re going to have such a blast!
San
I think you should go to NYC. Yes, it’s a little more expensive than a cruise, but it’s also a whole different experience that you should have! 🙂
Also, LOVE the bob!

I am SO excited for the Olympics! I have been DVR’ing the trials. So far I have watched some swimming and track and field. Gymnastics is my fave so I am hoping to watch some of it this weekend at my parents lake home!
I hope you can make NYC work! It’s such a fabulous city to visit!!

Whenever you end up coming to NYC, I’m taking the train in to visit END OF STORY. That’s so super close to me! 😀 Regrets can really suck sometimes, especially related to fears. They’re hard to let go, but that’s really all you can do… the past is the past.
