1) I finally watched the Friends reunion show, and it was everything I hoped it would be! It made me laugh and cry and fall back in love with this show. I’m glad it wasn’t any sort of revival of the show; the creators explained that they didn’t want to do that because it would require creating a conflict within the friends. I don’t know about you, but I like to believe that they are all still living happy, successful lives! Instead, it was just an hour and a half of reminiscing and fun surprise guests (did not see the Justin Bieber cameo happening, that’s for sure) and when it was over, I was so sad! I just wanted more. It was crazy, though, to juxtapose the actors as they look today with how they looked on the show. They were so young when it started! Anyway, I really loved the special and now I’m ready to start another rewatch of Friends! (Praise hands to my mom and her HBO Max subscription!)
2) A few months ago, I started using a One-Line-a-Day Journal. I really like it, especially for writing down secret thoughts/feelings/ideas that will be fun (or maybe cringey?) to look back on over the next few years. Anyway, on a recent episode of What Should I Read Next?, Anne’s guest talked about how she uses her One-Line-a-Day Journal to write down what she read that day—just the name of the book, that’s all. I was so intrigued by the idea that I immediately bought myself a second journal so I could do the same. I mean, I already use this blog and Instagram and Goodreads and an obsessively detailed spreadsheet to keep track of what I’m reading, but let’s add one more place to track! Lolz.
3) If I could sum up this week in two words, it would be: Happy Color. I’m obsessed with this app, which somehow was never on my radar until a podcaster I listen to mentioned it and then I saw someone on the app while I was at my hair salon this weekend. I’ve spent hours and hours and hours playing on this app since I downloaded it on Saturday. Like, 10+ hours. It’s kinda ridiculous. It’s a mindless activity I can do while listening to a podcast and I don’t even have to think about the colors—it’s like paint-by-numbers, which means I can TRULY zone out if I want to. I tend to be obsessive like this whenever I download a new app that’s really fun to play. Suddenly, all I want to do is play on the app! It’ll get less exciting with time, but for now, it’s a fun little obsession of mine.
4) On my last Five for Friday post, I mentioned that I was lacking the motivation to work out and San had wonderful advice for me to pick three days I’m going to work out every week and stick to those days! It sounds simple, but it was somewhat revolutionary for me. I was doing this thing where I would wake up on a morning I planned to do my workout and tell myself, “Ugh, I’m too tired. I’ll just do it tomorrow.” And then tomorrow would roll around and… same thing. And then suddenly it was Saturday and I hadn’t worked out once that week! But now that I’ve implemented “workout days” (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), I’ve found myself able to always find the motivation and energy to wake up and get in my workout in the morning! I haven’t missed a workout in almost three weeks! I’m very much an “all-or-nothing” person and making a strict rule like this is enormously helpful for me.
5) Not much happening this weekend! I have game night on Saturday night and I may take my car in for an oil change/inspection (one of my June goals!), but otherwise, my weekend is free and clear! That means there is a lot of reading and napping on the horizon. 🙂
Thoughts on the Friends reunion show (if you watched it)? What’s the last app you were obsessed with? Tell me your weekend plans!

Yay for finding a workout plan that works!
It is the last week of school and I have been running around doing mindless things and NOT reading. Boo!

We are also considering a Friends rewatch after the reunion. It was so fun. I also found it refreshing that they didn’t do another sort of season. It makes so much sense.
I started using a one line journal this year and I am so looking forward to seeing what it’s going to be like the next 5 years to revisit previous thoughts. I wouldn’t be able to do one for books. I am not reading a different book daily. I wish though.

I didn’t watch Friends consistently but I would be interested in watching the reunion show. But we don’t have HBO Max! I am glad they didn’t try to re-create the show w/ the cast as their age, though.
Glad San’s suggestion has helped you! Yay!
Love the way you are using a one sentence journal to track what you are reading!

I am not a Friends fan but I watched the reunion and enjoyed it! I thought the cameos will really fun too, and it was neat to see some of the secret behind the scene things!
LOL, you 100% need another place to track books. Duh. 😉 <3
I am so glad San's suggestion helped! Three weeks is a long streak, congrats!!!!
Gosh, the last app I was obsessed with… Instagram! It's been so fun to have my rock account on there. I don't have any game apps on my phone. I have seen an app similar to Happy Color (or maybe that was it) and it looks so relaxing!

LOVED the Friends Reunion. I felt really emotional watching it and reliving so many memories. Have you watched Sex In The City? I’m not sure how I feel about 3 of them coming back for another season….

For some reason, I never could get into “Friends”! I wasn’t allowed to watch it when it was on, I think because my mom thought it was “too adult,” or something, originally, & then I just never picked it up. I’ve tried a few times since, but I don’t think it holds up to watch for the first time in the late 2010s or 2020s, haha. Guess I’ll have to wait for the “Dawson’s Creek” reunion!
Anne
I was into Friends when it first came out (I was in college, which makes me realize I am much older than Kate and others commenting here! LOL…). I didn’t watch the reunion but it sounds like it was perfect! So glad they didn’t try to do a follow up episode. Those always, quite frankly, stink.
And YAY for the workout habit! So glad San’s suggestion worked. My only follow up thought is, maybe have a backup day? If you want to hit 3 days a week but wake up with a hideous headache on Saturday… do you want to have an alternative? This helps me stay consistent and work around any unexpected issues. 🙂 (If you don’t feel the ‘need’ work out 3 days a week, though, obviously this doesn’t apply!)
San
Ugh, can you believe I still haven’t watched the Friends Reunion…. I haven’t been wanting to pay for HBO, but maybe I’ll have to subscribe for a month.
