It’s Saturday morning and I’m sitting next to Mikaela at Starbucks as we both tap away on our laptops. Every so often, we stop to chit-chat but mostly, we’re focused on our work. I thought I’d do something easy today: a “five senses” post. There’s a lot more happening here than it would be at my house!
See: I see so much! My laptop screen, the people hanging out in Starbucks waiting for their drinks, the baristas bustling around the cafe, my crumpled-up breakfast sandwich bag, my sunglasses, my red Starbucks cup next to my laptop.
Taste: I’m drinking a delicious peppermint mocha! The drink has cooled down a lot as I’ve been at Starbucks for about an hour now. But it’s still delicious!
Touch: I’m touching my laptop keys and my wireless mouse.
Hear: I can hear the conversations happening around me, loud coffee machines making noise, and the pop music playing on the speakers.
Smell: Coffee, of course!
What do you currently hear?

Oh I love the smell of a Starbucks, what a lovely Saturday feeling. I may have to steal this idea for a post :).
I hear the background of Barack Obama narrating a documentary “Oceans” on Netflix while I catch up on blog reading !

There is something so cheery about sitting in a crowded place just listening to the hustle and bustle! I do love that; I also sometimes inadvertently eavesdrop and sometimes you get some gems! I am currently listening to the heater, which whistles when it is going through the pipes, I am feeling the heat, the keyboard, and I am tasting my coffee, black, one Splenda.

I can practically smell the coffee right now!
I hear the sounds of the boys starting to wake up. The pitter patter of (formerly) little feet.

Oh how I love hanging out at Starbucks! It’s such a sensory delight for me. I don’t usually like bustling spaces but I have always liked the bustle of a coffee shop. It becomes white noise for me so I can still study, read, etc even with the noise around me!
Right now I hear the bustle of a bunch of kids as I am at Paul’s chess tournament and we are between rounds. I also smell pizza as that is what they are serving for lunch. I see Paul hanging with his friends. I taste the baby carrots I’m snacking on. And I’m touching the grounds I’m sitting on as well as the phone in my hands!
