Every month, I go back and forth about blogging about my monthly goals. It feels so silly sometimes. You know? Writing down arbitrary goals every month… chasing after these little dreams… sometimes succeeding, most times failing.
And yet… I love setting monthly goals. Even when it feels silly and first-world-problem-y. It’s just fun to chase after something. It’s fun to envision the little things I want to accomplish – some that are tied to bigger goals I have (like losing weight or writing my novel), while others are just small, one-off goals.
So, monthly goals are here to stay. And here’s what I want to accomplish in March:
1) Spend five hours weekly working on my novel
I barely spent any time on my novel in February, mostly because I hit a roadblock with my novel that made me think I needed to change my novel’s entire plot. And when I did create a new plot, I just… hit a creative wall. I didn’t feel like writing and, quite honestly, it broke my heart to give up the novel I had (mostly) written. I love that original novel and I finally figured out a plan of how I can keep that manuscript. Here’s to lots of writing in March!
2) Watch a documentary on Netflix
I never watch documentaries because I’m either using my TV time to catch up on my DVR or binge on Gilmore Girls. But I want to watch something this month – anybody have any recs?
3) Use MyFitnessPal daily and exercise three times a week
I set a quarterly goal to lose 5 lbs and… I’m a few lbs from doing so. I know I can easily lose the weight as long as I stick to eating well and exercising. So, logging my food on MFP is exactly what I need to do!
4) Find out my Enneagram type.
I love everything about personality tests, and the Enneagram is something I keep hearing about. A few months ago, an Enneagram coach was interviewed on The Lively Show and it was fascinating. Everyone knows about the Myers-Briggs personality assessment (I’m an ISFJ!), but while that test simply tells us what we are, the Enneagram is billed as showing us why we are the way we are. I am so here for that. It’s time to figure out my type!
What’s one thing you want to accomplish in March?

I don’t think it’s silly at all! It lets you get them on “paper,” plus out in the open, to help keep you accountable. And also, they’re just interesting. For readers, I think, these goals are a good look at who you are & who you aim to be. Good luck!

My ennegram type is spot on. I’m 7, the Enthusiast. I often talk and think in all caps and feel like a wide eye puppy. https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-7/ I engage in multiple projects at once (which drives my dad nuts) I also dabble a lot. “Sevens are exhilarated by the rush of ideas and by the pleasure of being spontaneous, preferring broad overviews and the excitement of the initial stages of the creative process to probing a single topic in depth.” That link basically drafts out my most reoccurring problems in life. Like choosing everything instead of being discerning because of FOMO.
My March Goals – I want to start pitching myself at least once a week on odd paying projects. Being partially employed means I want to work on being partially self-employed.

I just got into the Ennegram and am a TOTAL type 2! My wing is 3. The whole thing is FASCINATING.

Your goals for March sound great! I would love to take a further look into my Ennegram type as well; I know I am a 4, but not what my wing is yet. I have found that type often nicely coincides with one’s Myers-Briggs abbreviations – definitely being a “4” suits my INFP nature.
This March, I would like to accomplish solidly staying on track with my healthy eating and exercise habits. It is a must!

Documentary suggestion. Poverty Inc., it’s a really thoughtful look into the current aid induced poverty around the world. I don’t think it is on Netflix yet but it is on Amazon and Apple.

I need to check out this Ennegram thing! Sounds super interesting! And I’m all about learning more about myself and why I am the way I am!
As far as documentary suggestions, there are some good food ones, like Food Inc. Or since you like Sports, maybe a 30 in 30 ESPN documentary? There are tons of them which are about all kinds of different subjects or that profile different athletes.

I always love hearing your goals because then I tend to think they are ones I could easily modify to fit my own lifestyle, here in central Illinois. Also, I always am amazed by how many books you actually finish in a year! Since you like to read and you like the Gilmore Girls, there’s a challenge for fans of the show who like to read. Basically, every time you see Rory in a scene, she has a new book she’s reading. The challenge is to read all of the books she’s read on the show. Have you ever heard of that challenge? It’s one I want to try, which brings me to my goal for this month. I just want to write every day (for at least an hour), and also finish a book (for fun) this month.
