Well, we’re nearly halfway through June already (eeks!) and I am just now publishing my monthly goals. I scaled back a tiny bit on these goals (only three goals for two of the categories rather than the usual five), and also, I’m not putting any pressure on myself to get everything done. I mean, I never put pressure on myself when it comes to these goals, but I am giving myself even more grace in June. So, let’s get into how I did on my May goals and what I hope to get done in June.
May Goals
Small Steps Toward My Yearly Goals
1) Hang up the rest of the prints I have for my living room gallery wall. I hung up two of the three prints, and then acquired another print while in New Orleans. Halfway complete?
2) Start researching rewards credit cards: add at least 5 cards to my spreadsheet to compare. Not complete, whoops.
3) Watch two seasons of a TV show. Complete! I watched the first season of The Bear and the first season of New Girl. Yay, me!
4) Read another Agatha Christie novel. Complete! I read A Murder Is Announced and gave it 4 stars.
5) Clean up my categories/tags. Complete!
Daily(ish) Routines
1) Daily movement. (54% successful) Oof, this was not a great month for daily movement! I went to the gym three times a week but did not get out for a walk the other days of the week.
2) Play with the cats for 10 minutes. (0%) My poor cattttts.
3) Do psoriasis treatment every day. (80%) Having a really bad psoriasis flare for the majority of May meant I was on top of those treatments. I’d rather not have had a flare, though.
4) Take my meds. (80%) Getting better about this!
5) Check my bank account daily and update my budget spreadsheet. (64%) Not great, but it is what it is.
Tasks
1) Take Gladys for her biyearly check-up. Complete! She needed an oil change and some fluids topped off, but nothing major. Yay!
2) Declutter and reorganize my dresser drawers. Not complete. I kept thinking about this goal and how I wanted to get it done, and then pushing it off to another day.
3) Get a new nose piercing. Complete! I switched out my stud for a hoop and I love it so much.
4) Go to the gym three times a week. Complete! It’s so satisfying to complete this goal every week.
5) Put my bedroom door back on its hinges. Lol, no.
June Goals
Small Steps Toward My Yearly Goals
1) Watch two seasons of a TV show. Right now, I’m halfway through season one of Suits (and omg, it’s so good!) and will probably also watch season three of Bridgerton to round this out. (I’ve been waiting to watch Bridgerton until all the episodes were released, so I’m excited to dive in soon!)
2) Work through one more section of my “I’m Dead, Now What?” workbook. It’s not a fun workbook, but it is necessary to do.
3) Research cake decorating classes to find an option that works for me. This is one of my yearly goals and I keep forgetting about it! I just need to figure out what options are around me, pricing, and who I can force to go with me!
Daily(ish) Routines
1) Daily movement. Let’s hope I do better in June.
2) Play with the cats for 10 minutes three times a week. Maybe I should bump this down to once a week? Gosh. Why is this goal so difficult?
3) Do psoriasis treatment every day. My flare has abated but the dry skin is back, so I have to keep on top of these treatments. I’m seeing my dermatologist in two weeks and cannot wait to discuss how to get to maintenance with this damn condition.
4) Take my meds. Let’s make it into the 90s in June, yes?!
5) Check my bank account daily and update my budget spreadsheet. I have a lot to say about my budget, but I’ll save that for my spending post coming later this week.
Tasks
1) Declutter the top drawer of my dresser. It feels very overwhelming to think about going through the whole dresser at once, so I think if I break this goal into smaller tasks, it has the potential to get done. So all I need to focus on this month is the top dresser drawer!
2) Put my bedroom door back on its hinges. Rollover goal.
3) Go to the gym four times a week. I’ve been slowly increasing my gym usage and I think four days a week might be my sweet spot. But we’ll see! I’ll probably stick with four times a week for a bit and then decide if I want to increase it from there.
Do you have any goals for June?

The first episode of the Bear, I was like, this is too stressful. But I watched all two seasons, and there is a third coming out soon. Stephany, this is huge for me. I almost never watch anything and I usually peace out while my husband watches. I had to text my friend Hannah for spoilers though, because I need spoilers for anything stressful!
I just replaced half of my jeans, which wasn’t something I wanted to do necessarily, but for the sake of comfort/ mental health I did! I’m going to call it a goal and cross it off.
Stephany
I keep going back and forth if I want to keep watching The Bear. It was SO stressful at times, but I’ve heard really good things about season two. Ack. Decisions, decisions.
Replacing your jeans is huge! What a great goal to cross off!

You are not going to have a problem getting through the first season of Suites! I watched it up to season 5 or 6 – the show went really strong up to then.
I need to look into finding a cake decorating class! That’s something that I would really enjoy.
Stephany
Suits is soooo good. It’s a really fun show to watch! I can’t get enough of it!

If you ever feel like you’d like to watch a gentle competition show, give the Great British Baking Show a try…you can watch it on your computer via Roku TV, or if you have a Roku, on your TV. SO GOOD. I liked the first years best, with Mary Berry, Sue and Mel, but honestly, there’s no such thing as a bad season.
I hope you watch more of The Bear. Season 2 has some episodes that are AMAZING. (One with Jamie Lee Curtis that is Emmy worthy, but stressful!) I’m looking forward to season 3.
I’ll be interested to know what points credit card you decide on. I play a complicated game with mine that I’ve described here before, so I won’t bore you to tears. I think there are some now that give you 2 points on every dollar spent, with no annual fee. There weren’t any when I got my most used credit card. I think about switching over to avoid my fee, but I’m lazy.
I’m out of the loop with cats, I’ve been with my husband since 1987, and he’s horribly allergic. When we had cats growing up, we never played with them. Is it important to their mental health or something? I mean, they have each other, right? Aren’t you there to feed and cuddle them, and change their cat box? Thinking about it, though, our cats got a lot of mental stimulation because they were indoor/outdoor cats, so were out there murdering birds and so on. NOT suggesting you do that, too many people lose cats to the dangerous world outdoors.
Stephany
GBBS is on my list to watch at some point – I wish all of the seasons were in one place, but I think I’ll have to stick with what’s on Netflix at this point.
The cats don’t NEED the mental stimulation of me playing with them, but they enjoy when I get out the teaser wands, laser, and other fun toys, so I want to do it for them.

Love these posts!
June goals…
Self: Meru app and practices, two night of camping, read, and write. One get together with friends. Garden!
Family: wedding anniversary, camping with kids, moving-up ceremonies for kiddos, Father’s day for Tony.
House: declutter guest room, continue maintaining our garden, watch a new show. Right now we are going through “The Leftovers” show from 2014.
Stephany
Love these goals! They all seem doable and there are a lot of fun goals on this list. Happy June, friend!

I love The Bear! I tried to watch it with Phil but it was too stressful/intense for him so I have to watch it on my own. I am excited for the new season. I think you’ll love season 2 of that show. It’s even better than the first IMO!
June goals – I’ve got nothing! It’s kind of a month of transitions for us as Paul finishes school and starts the summer program which isn’t much of a change all things considered. I also start infusions (doing my first one as I type this) so that’s an adjustment as well. But I am not really putting any goals on myself other than just continuing to put one foot in front of another. I would like to finish our 2023 photo book on shutterfly but I feel so unmotivated to do that…
Stephany
I think the goals of settling into summertime life and getting through these infusions are two GREAT goals for this phase of your life. And the Shutterfly photo book can wait a little longer until you’re feeling more like yourself after the infusions!

Poor Zelda doesn’t get played with very much, either. It has to be a combo of she wants to play, the dog can be penned away from her easily, and I have time at that minute. It just doesn’t all align very often!
Stephany
Yes, I can see how that would make things really difficult for you! I don’t have any limitations like that. I’m just being lazy, lol.

As I said before, I love that you’re writing out these detailed goals but also love that you give yourself grace in completing them… however, one of the goals that I don’t understand is “taking your meds”. Why does that not get 100%? I mean, it seems like out of all of these goals, it should be a non-negotiable. What’s keeping you from taking them every single day?
Stephany
Taking my meds is baked into my morning routine habit, so any day I don’t go through my typical morning routine, I tend to forget about the meds. The only medication I take that is a MUST is my Lexapro and I can usually miss 1-2 doses without it impacting me so it’s not a huge deal, but I hope to get to 100% some day.

I am so impressed with your gym goals. So amazing.
Sometimes goals are just hard. I love that you give yourself some grace and scale back. Maybe that is the summer routine we have – us people without kids to get a bit more ease in. Ha.
Stephany
I love an easy summer routine that’s for sure! I’m glad I don’t have to worry about summer camps and keeping kids occupied during this time, haha.

You are seriously rocking it and I hope you know it! You may not hit 100% on everything but you are making progress on so many bit by bit. I do think that scaling back is a great idea – I’d think of your list as overwhelming as a must-do list, but do-able from the standpoint of, here’s my menu for the month. If you can “move the monopoly pieces” a bit each week for 75% of them? I’d call that a win. But I don’t set goals, so what do I know? 🙂
