I’ve seen a few bloggers do these “One Picture Per Hour” posts, which is a different way to do a Day in the Life type of blog post. Since Sunday was a pretty busy day in my world, I figured it would be a fun one to document. Let’s dive in!
7:15 am – I’m up a little before my alarm and lazing around in bed. The cats are being extra cute!
8:22 am – Wrapping up my book for Silent Book Club. Every meeting, we’re encouraged to bring a book to swap. We wrap up the book and put a few details about it that won’t give anything away (sort of like Blind Date with a Book). Then, we do a White Elephant swap!
9:32 am – I arrive early for Silent Book Club. My girlfriend is already there and she brought me a bagel! (We found out on our first date that we would be attending SBC together, so it’s been a fun little thing for us to do every month.)
10:35 am – Silent reading time! I brought The 1619 Project and Happy Place. I read two chapters of The 1619 Project and then have time to read two chapters of Happy Place before the hour was up.
11:44 am – This is the book I ended up with in our book exchange. I’m always down for a good thriller, and the book I unwrapped was The End of Her by Shari Lapena.
12:53 pm – I’m at Bri’s for podcast work! We recorded our new intro for season 5, our season 5 trailer, and the first episode. We had a good time!
1:52 pm – We’ve finished recording for the day and Bri’s sweet pup, Titan, is sleeping with his mouth open and looks so derpy that I have to take a picture of him. He’s such a sweetheart, I swear.
2:33 pm – Leaving Bri’s house, and of course, I’ve got my Taylor playlist going.
3:14 pm – I stop at the grocery store on my way home and I do something I have never done: I pick up a bag of peanut M&Ms, open them up, and eat them while I shop. I was starving and started to have a hypoglycemia episode so I needed to get some sugar in my system ASAP. (And yes, of course I paid for them when I finished shopping!) It’s my own fault for not eating since the morning (what was I thinking?!), but live and learn.
4:32 pm – A very, very early dinner for this girl! I watched a few episodes of Happy Endings while eating and playing on my phone. Much needed!
5:36 pm – I finally sit down at my laptop to start working on this post. Ellie wants me to stop everything I’m doing to give her all of the pets, so I oblige.
6:25 pm – I’ve been sitting at my laptop for a while. In between writing this post, I’m reading/commenting on blog posts and trying to catch up on my email subscriptions. Lila jumps up on the table and gives me a green-eyed stare. How can I deny her anything?!
7:28 pm – I got started on my nighttime routine so early today! I’m never starting my nighttime skincare this early. What a delight! Here’s my routine: cleanser, BHA exfoliant, toner, niacinamide, mandelic acid, lactic acid, and moisturizer.
8:35 pm – It’s time to curl up in bed with Ellie and read until I get sleepy. In the past week, I have really been trying to get into bed by 9 and turning off the lights between 10-10:30, and I’m doing pretty well. I am certain I’ll be asleep by 10 tonight for sure!
What’s something fun you did yesterday?
NGS
What a great idea for a post! I really loved that so many of your photos dealt with books or pets. We are definitely on the same page about what priorities should be!
Stephany
Books + pets are the best priorities to have! 🙂
Kim
What a great idea! I love seeing all the pics.
I can’t wait to read your review of Happy Place! I was so excited to get it then was immediately annoyed by Harriet and Wyn. I am only about 15-18% in though.
You know I can relate to needing to eat those M&Ms asap!
I love how the girls were demanding attention after you were gone a lot of the day. They missed you!
Something fun I did yesterday was go to the movies 🙂
Stephany
I was soooo famished when I was in the grocery store! It really satisfied me right then, haha.
They are so attention-hungry when I’ve been gone all day. It always makes me feel good. They miss me when I’m gone!
Sarah
I love this type of post! Your bed looks sooo comfy and cozy and would be my dream. I admit I had to DNF The Wife Upstairs, but I can see how it would be a good thriller for other readers. It may have been because I listened to it on audio and I wasn’t into the narrator’s voices.
Stephany
A narrator can truly ruin a book! That just happened to me recently, ugh.
I looove my bed. It is so cozy and I just want to be there all the time, haha.

YOU KNOW I LOVE THE ORDINARY!!!! TWINSIES!!!!
I love these kinds of posts, Stephany. Thanks for taking us along on your day! I just love seeing what people are up to. The book swap is such a good idea, too. I need to create a book club! Just…I’m moving in two months so I guess I better figure this out in my NEW place. Might be a great way to make new friends!
OMG Titan! Rexie would love to play with him, I bet.
Stephany
I think you were the one who got me hooked on The Ordinary’s products! You can’t go wrong with how affordable they are when compared to other products. Their niacinamide is MAGIC for me!
I hope you can create a book club in your new home. I am sure you would be the perfect leader for something like that! Or make your own chapter of Silent Book Club. 🙂
San
That was a fun post I don’t think I had seen like this before.. .maybe only on IG?? Either way, thanks for taking us along 🙂 it was great to get a glimpse of your day. I think that SBC is so fun. I’d totally join, if I lived closer.
I have tried a couple of THE ORDINARY things. They’re nice and so affordable!
Stephany
San, I tried to find out if there was a SBC chapter near you but it doesn’t like like there’s an active group anymore. WAH. 🙁 I wish you could come to mine! It’s really fun.
Diane
What a great way to check in throughout the day! I once thought about doing something similar, but then I’d forget to take pictures four hours in.
I read The Wife Upstairs – Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books and I’m always game for a spinoff. I think it’s funny that the description of the book that you received would also be a good description for The Wife Upstairs as well!
Something fun I did yesterday was carpool to work with my work bestie. We’ve been working opposite schedules lately and I’ve been missing being able to swing by her desk to chat. So when our schedules aligned yesterday, we decided to carpool in and it was fun to catch up.
Stephany
I used to do these on IG on a near-monthly basis and I find it’s a fun way to take someone into your ordinary life! It’s a little challenging to remember to take a photo every hour, but luckily I had a very busy day so there was lots to photograph!
A catch-up carpool date with your work bestie sounds LOVELY!

So wait, your girlfriend and you independently had found the silent reading club before you met each other?? I love it! Does she have similar reading tastes to you? How lovely to have found a fellow reader!
What a fun, full day! I’m curious about your skin care routine. I have been majorly slacking on mine and kind of do the bare minimum… I should get back on track w/ using the products I have. I don’t have all that many so should be better about using toner, etc.
Yesterday was Monday since I’m reading this a day behind. Fun things I did include going on a run before starting my day and then going for a walk w/ Phil and the boys after dinner. Our routine is to walk down to the creek. The boys love throwing leaves and rocks in the creek.
Stephany
On our first date, she asked me what I was doing that weekend (our date was on a Saturday morning) and I mentioned that I was going to this event called Silent Book Club and she was like, “OMG, so am I!” HAHA. I had been the month before but she couldn’t attend then. So it’s crazy to think our paths would have crossed at some other point in time, too!
My bare bones skincare routine is cleanser, toner, niacinamide, vitamin c serum, and moisturizer. That’s usually what I do in the morning and I do my more “intensive” routine in the evening. I really need to get a retinoid prescription, but I’ve bene slacking on that.
Daria
I love these types of posts. Your kitties are the cutest. What is the name of your podcast?
Stephany
Thank you! <3 The podcast is called The Friendship Paradox. 🙂
Anne
I love these posts – and never do them. You would be bored stiff by my days… I would have repeated pictures of my laptop screen as I… sit and work, sit and work, sit and work, repeat ad nauseum (broken up by hourly [at least] laps around the apartment to keep the blood moving…). 🙂 You have the kitties, if nothing else!
I am, um, impressed and overwhelmed by your skin care routine. It’s all I can do to manage a retinol at night. Followed by moisturizer. The end. 🙂
Also, dammit, still no SBC in Madison. Sigh. Those of us who lack them should start an online one… sit in your living room with your screen on and read “with” our blog buddies. 😉
