Time I woke up: 7:00 a.m.
First thing I did upon waking: I turned off my alarm and then read a few chapters of my romance novel before getting out of bed and making myself a bowl of cereal.
Today’s weather: Super nice! The high was 79F and it stayed in the low 70s and sunny for most of the day. I love this time of year!
Something I spent money on today: Coffee this morning at the coffeeshop I went to for Silent Book Club.
An out-of-the-ordinary thing that happened today: Silent Book Club! It was our February meeting and it was fun to see some new and old faces. And I zipped through nearly 100 pages of my book while I was there, which was exciting.
Last thing I read (not on the Internet): Code Name Helene by Ariel Lawhon. It’s excellent!
Last thing I read (on the Internet): One of the daily e-newsletters sent to me by The Anti-Racism Daily.
Last text I sent: “Hmm, I’m always down for Italian or Mexican! Can’t go wrong there.” This is in reference to finding a good option for dinner this week, lol.
Last text I received: “Awesome! I will think up some options.” In response to the above text.
Last website I visited: Elisabeth’s blog!
Last show I watched: Brooklyn 99.
Last thing I said: “Hey, honey bunny.” To Eloise, as she was twirling around my legs while I was prepping my pizza to put it in the oven.
Last thing I ate: Samoas! Girl Scout season is my favorite season!
What I was doing an hour ago: I was taking a nice, hot bubble bath. I listened to the latest episode of Maintenance Phase and played Happy Color on my phone. It was divine!
What I will be doing an hour from now: I will probably be watching something on TV and eating a bowl of ice cream. Yum, yum!
Current whereabouts of other members of my household: I believe Lila is now under the couch (she usually goes under the couch for an hour or two this time of night). Whenever she army crawls out from under the couch, I exclaim, “There you are! I missed you!” Eloise is currently sitting right next to me as I type up this post!
One thing I crossed off my to-do list today: I grocery shopped for this week, which really wasn’t a big deal since I have dinner plans three nights this week (!). But I needed a few items, so I’m glad I did that after Silent Book Club.
Tell me one out-of-the-ordinary thing about your Sunday!
Elisabeth
The book sounds great, the coffee looks amazing…but you lost me at the bubble bath! You know I have strong feelings about baths!!!
Also, I think I may have said this before (and I know you blogged about this recently), but you have the sweetest pet names ever. Eloise? Lila!? Just too cute for words <3
Stephany
Thank you! It was my goal to find the sweetest, girliest names for my kitties and I think I succeeded. 🙂

Oooh, you know I love these posts. This was so fun – I love the idea of a silent book club. I have been thinking about getting a book club together where people talk about the last book they read, so that not everyone is reading the same book. We will see!
They are Girl Guides here, not Scouts, and they only have two kinds of cookies: sandwich ones in the spring and mint chocolate ones in the fall. I have two nieces in Guides so I always buy a lot! I like seeing the huge variety of cookies in the States! My friend posted a photo and I saw that there were raspberry ones this year and it made me a little envious of my American friends! Such a variety!
Stephany
I love the idea of a book club where you talk about the last book you read! I think that could be a really fun idea. I hope you put it into action!

As I was leaving my parents’ house last night, I was waiting to turn onto the highway and saw a car pulled over on the right shoulder down the road. It was dark, so at first all I could see was the headlights, but then I saw a person cross the road away from the car. I only saw them because of a sliver of light shining from the gas station up ahead. I’d completely forgotten about that until I read the last sentence of your post, but I remember sitting there at the intersection for a moment, tempted to work myself up into a state of paranoia about what this person was doing, but ultimately decided to go ahead and make my turn. No-one was behind me or coming down the road for me to continue sitting there, waiting, and I didn’t want to look suspicious. I told myself on the way home I simply listened to too many true crime podcasts, but I’m still curious about what was going on. I’m always worried that I’ll notice something suspicious, shrug it off, and then a terrible thing happens because I didn’t want to overreact.
Stephany
Lauren, I have BEEN THERE! This reaction is something I have all the time, especially when I’m driving at night. I definitely think it’s a reaction to listening to too many true crime podcasts or reading thrillers, lol. I always err on the side of keeping myself safe, and I think you made the right call!

It was surprisingly warm here on Sunday and so Hannah actually went for three solid walks. She’s been sort of iffy about walks recently, so I enjoyed having her fully engaged and happy to be out!
I haven’t seen any Girl Scouts selling cookies yet, but I should probably keep a $20 bill in my pocket just in case I see some!
Stephany
It must have been so nice to have a warm day in February! I’m sure that lifted Hannah’s spirits. 🙂
I hope you find some Girl Scout cookies soon!

The best season of all!

We realized our heating is broken. It is getting cooler and cooler in the apartment.
The Silent Bookclub sounds so fun. I wonder: do you never talk? I mean is it just a random collection of people reading together not knowing each other?
Stephany
We do talk at Silent Book Club! We spend the first 30 minutes chit-chatting with each other, then we read silently for 1 hour, and then afterward do a fun book exchange. It’s a blast!
Kim
I feel the last text you sent so hard. LOL. Please invite me next time!!! (ha, I wish!)
That is so cute that Lila goes under the couch like that each night, and that you have always say that to her! We laugh when Apollo thinks he is hiding under the couch but his butt is sticking out!
Hmm, out of the ordinary about last Sunday… it was sunny and warm and I was able to resin outside! That is unusual for February!
Stephany
When I got this new couch, I was actually worried that Lila would lose her favorite hiding spot since it was much lower to the ground than my other couch. But no problem for her! She slithers on her belly to get underneath, haha. If I see her in the act of slithering under the couch, I say “Have fun! See you soon!”

What a lovely day!! I know how much you love your bubble baths so I’m glad you got a soaking session in!
On Sunday, I took the boys to an indoor playground and my neighbor and her kids met us there. I wanted to give Phil a stretch of time alone at home since I am traveling again this week. I’m feeling quite bad about how much is on his plate this week as we are getting a huge winter storm. Daycare is closed today and I imagine it will be closed tomorrow. I just hope I get home as planned tomorrow. He is going to need a serious break after all this solo parenting!!!
Stephany
Oh man, worst possible time to have work travel, right?! Poor Phil and poor YOU with all the mom guilt. Trying to balance fairness and equity in a partnership when you have very young kids must be quite the struggle!
