Time I woke up: 6:30 a.m.
First thing I did upon waking: I went right over to my workspace and started working! I wanted to get an early start to my day since I was taking the afternoon off. (I don’t normally start working immediately, but sometimes I’ll log in, check emails, and get my to-do list situated before I start my morning routine.)
Today’s weather: It was stormy this morning but then cleared up for the rest of the day. The high was 92, bleh.
Something I spent money on today: $12 on a few essentials at Target – coffee creamer, eyeglass wipes, and cooking spray.
An out-of-the-ordinary thing that happened today: I spent three hours getting tested to see if I’m a candidate for LASIK. And spoiler alert: I totally am! Apparently, I have nice, thick corneas that will make traditional LASIK a breeze for me. (Or so I hope.) Now I just have to figure out how to afford it!
Last thing I read (not on the Internet): Just My Type by Falon Ballard, a very cute contemporary romance!
Last thing I read (on the Internet): Big Spaceship: Internet Brunch’s email for today. (It’s an e-newsletter that gives you some news and fun meme content.)
Last text I sent: “Let’s do that, if you’re okay coming to my side of the pond two days in a row.”
Last text I received: “Oh I like the low key night in!”
Last website I visited: Gmail.
Last show I watched: Brooklyn 99.
Last podcast I listened to: I just started listening to an older true crime podcast called “Beyond Bardstown: Lacombe” that released in the spring of 2021. It has a very intriguing premise! Here’s the summary for the first episode: “A house fire breaks out in the woods, and the wife of a local fire chief is nowhere to be found.”
Last thing I said: “Love youuu,” as I hung up with my mom on FaceTime.
Last thing I ate: Cookie dough flautas from Tijuana Flats. I couldn’t help myself.
What I was doing an hour ago: I was tidying up my apartment.
What I will be doing an hour from now: Hopefully I’ll be snuggled up in bed with a cat on each side of me.
Current whereabouts of other members of my household: I am sitting at the dining room table, typing up this post. Lila is in her pink kitty bed by the front door, sleeping. And Eloise is sitting on top of her “Feliner Diner” cat house and staring at me like a creep.
One thing I crossed off my to-do list today: I got my LASIK consultation! I can mark that goal right off my list.

What were YOU doing an hour ago?
Torrie @ To Love and To Learn
I think the prompts you’ve added make it so much more fun! I love them 🙂
An hour ago I was still sleeping, lol — having to wake up in the middle of the night to feed the baby and pump has meant I sleep til the very last second I can!
Stephany
Yes, sleep, sleep, sleep all you can right now!
Engie
An hour ago I was finishing up a meeting at the community center for a hush hush partnership we’re going to be doing with another local organization. It’s going to be a Big Deal and I’m super excited about it!
Your kitties are so gorgeous. Don’t you ever call Eloise a creep – she’s just showing you how much she loves you!
Stephany
Aren’t they so beautiful? I am partial to them, but I totally agree!
And you’re right! I’m just glad she’s as obsessed with me as I am with her! Hehe.
Kyria @ Travel Spot
First thing you did upon waking is start working!? What about the bathroom? Coffee? No? I cannot really do much of anything before going to the bathroom and brushing my teeth; it is like the jumpstart to my day.
An hour ago I was sleeping oh so soundly! I got to bed really late last night and only got a few hours of sleep so today is going to be a long one (but it was worth it as the reason I stayed up was to see Les Mis with some friends!)
Stephany
I mean, yes. I always start my day the same way but I don’t feel the need to fill everyone in on THOSE activities, lol. It would be a boring question to answer if I named the LITERAL first things I did. I try to consider that question more of the first activity I did when I wake up, which in this case, was working.
Elisabeth
Yay about the LASIK. Who knew having thick corneas was such an asset. This is great news!
Stephany
Thick corneas! The first test I did was for my corneas and I got very excited when she said, “Nice, thick corneas.” Ha!
Lisa of Lisa’s Yarns
That is such good news about lasik! I am pretty sure I would need PRK. I had a consult over 10 years ago and they said my corneas were too thin. At that time the procedure was called lasek and they said I would need corrections every 5 years or so. So I gave up on that.
An hour ago I was doing what I am doing now – hanging at our friend’s house on a lake. My boys are too afraid to go in the boat so we are hanging back while everyone boats and tubes. Womp womp.
Stephany
I would encourage you to get a consultation! Yes, it will take up an afternoon but you never know what they may say! Technology has changed a lot in a decade, you know? Knowledge is power and all that!
Kim
Cookie dough flautas! Tell me more!
“my side of the pond” Love it!
An hour ago I was running with Dad!
Kim
Oh and I meant to say, I am so glad you can do LASIK!
Stephany
Cookie dough flautas are so good! Just fried dough wrapped around warm cookie dough so it’s almost like eating an underdone chocolate chip cookie, but so much better.
Kim
OMG yes! Here for it!
Anne
These are such fun posts.
Like Kyria, I also had this image of you just jumping out of bed and racing to your computer. LOL. I’m glad there were a few steps before that!
