My front porch didn’t change this year – the wreath and sign I bought last year and I’ve had this beautiful snowflake doormat for a few years now.
My bedroom – I have a small shelf that I was able to place some Christmas goodies and I hung this sweet sign on my door. I’ve had that little snowman countdown for a long time now, and I love changing the dates every night. All of the signs are from TJ Maxx and the trees are from Target.
How do you know I live in Florida? I hang my stockings on a wall. Fireplaces are very uncommon in Florida, so there isn’t a mantle to hang stockings. I love looking at this little wall with the “Believe” sign I picked up at Target this year and our stockings. It brings me immense joy!
These floating shelves in my dining room are a prime spot for more Christmas signage. The top shelf has my newest signage; I picked up the “merry and bright” sign this year and the “Merry Christmas” sign last year. The bottom shelf has some signs I used to keep at work because yes, I used to do my own “Stephany’s Christmas Wonderland” at work and brought everything home in 2020. I love this shiny gold garland, too. It’s one of my faves!
This is my small entryway (just a wall, ha) where I have a small shelf. It has a tiny space to include some Christmas decorations, so of course, I have done so! I’m pretty sure this was a TJ Maxx sign I got last Christmas and the tiny trees are from Target.
My sweet little TV shelf. I have garland and lights (I love these chunky white lights so much!) strung around the TV and then have placed a whole bunch of different objects on the shelf. I have a second countdown (I used to keep this one at work and brought it home), some candles in small jars, and a few ornaments that are kinda heavy so they don’t hang on the tree very well (the snowman ornament is one of my faves). I also have a little reindeer that I think I bought at Target a few years ago and a “merry” sign that I got from the Target dollar section this year. The “believe” sign is one I used to keep at work and brought home. (And yes, I put on a fireplace Youtube video on the TV to take these pictures.)
I love this little shelf that sits to the right of the big window in my living room. Almost everything on this shelf is new this year. Yes, I have a second “this girl loves Christmas” sign and I think this is my third “merry and bright” sign, lol. Both of those were TJ Maxx purchases this year. The little cat in the Santa hat is actually a stress relief ball but I like it more as a decoration (another TJ Maxx find this year). The little trees are from Target and the bigger tree might have been a gift from someone else. I actually can’t remember! It lights up, though.
These bookshelves in my dining room are a prime Christmas signage spot! I have some garland and colored lights along with a “merry” sign. I think I got that “merry” sign at Target a few years ago, but I can’t remember. I have lots of fun signage, including the “meowy Christmas” sign I bought this year. And I filled in any extra areas with different types of trees. Can you tell trees are my favorite little finishing touch to any space? Hehe.
The tray on my coffee table got Christmas-fied, of course. I have some Christmassy rocks from my dear friend Kim, a rose gold pine cone, and a little Christmassy plant. And there’s my pine-scented candle, yassss. It’s not the same as having the scent of a real tree in my apartment (miss that!), but it does its job.
My sweet little Christmas tree! It is ridiculously huge for a small apartment (the tree topper is just a few inches from my ceiling, ha), but I don’t care. I love it so much, and it makes me so happy to see it all lit up every night. There are some new ornaments on the tree this year, so let’s go through those!
The first two ornaments I received from friends this year, and you’ve already seen them! The library card one is from Kim and the little gnome is from Anne. I picked up this stack of books at Robert’s Christmas Wonderland last weekend. The “Christmas is Better with Cats” ornament is a personalized ornament the “cats” bought me last year. The maple leaf I bought when I was in Canada and every time I notice it, it makes me smile! The “Meowy Catmas” ornament was another personalized ornament from the cats. I couldn’t resist this cheery snowman when I was at Robert’s Christmas Wonderland last weekend. And, finally, I bought these initial ornaments during an after-Christmas sale at Bed, Bath, and Beyond last year. It’s fun to have all of our initials on the tree!
And that’s my Christmas home! Next year, my goal is to buy a few things for the bathroom so I can start to Christmas-fy that area (inspired by Jenny!). I also really want to buy a few short-sleeved Christmassy tees. This is such a Florida problem, but all of my Christmas-wear is long-sleeved sweaters and it’s usually too hot to wear them in December. I’ll be scouring Etsy next week to see if there are any good after-Christmas sales on t-shirts!
What is your Christmas decorating style like? Do you go all out like me, keep things minimal, or don’t decorate at all? Let me know!
Lisa of Lisa’s Yarns
Your apartment looks so festive and fun!! We have the same stockings from target!
I am definitely a minimalist when it comes to decorating. We don’t have much besides the tree and a couple other things. I have about 1.5 bins of decorations. I love how festive others’ homes are but prefer to keep things simple in our house! And that is what Phil prefers, too! So we are compatible in that way!! But you are surely not surprised to read this. It’s very on brand for me. 😉
Stephany
I’m not surprised at all, and I love a minimalist Christmas look as well as a ridiculously decorated one. 🙂 You have to do what works for you!
Christa
I don’t decorate at all! Your apartment looks lovely though 🙂
Stephany
Thank you, Christa! I hope you had a lovely holiday. <3
NGS
We’re definitely minimalists. We have a tree (the topper touches the ceiling, so we’re right there with you on it being maybe a smidge too big for the space), cards hanging over a doorway, sleighbells on the doors, and a couple of hanging decorations my sister has made for me. We also put lights on our front porch and a couple of candles in our upstairs windows. But that’s it. We don’t do stockings and we don’t put up signs or switch out our welcome mats.
But your place looks so festive and I think I’d definitely need more decor if we didn’t have snow and cold to get me in the holiday spirit!
Stephany
You are definitely right that it’s a bit easier to get in the holiday spirit when the weather matches, haha. We got lucky and got some very cold days during Christmas, which has been so nice. I actually got to wear a Christmas sweater and not feel too hot!
Meike
I love your Christmas decorations. I do decorate our living and dining room, we do have a tree what I don’t have is special pillows or signs. I like snowflakes and I think I will keep those up in the main window through the winter. That’s fair, right?
I hope you had a great Christmas!
Suzanne
Stephany, this is all so warm and festive and cozy! I love all these details and special touches! The snowflake mat is something I covet, but I don’t think I have it “together” enough to have two separate welcome mats, haha. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Stephany
Haha, I am a mess in most facets of my life but not when it comes to decorating my apartment for Christmas, it seems! We all have our strengths. 😉
Elisabeth
Well this was just pure pleasure to read. Your place looks so cozy and festive. And there is no such thing as too big a tree. I think it looks perfect. You’ve done such a lovely job setting everything up so beautifully, and what a great collection of meaningful ornaments and decorations!
Stephany
Thank you so much, Elisabeth! That means a lot. <3
Jenny
I’m actually reading this on Christmas, which is fun! You and I have the same decorating style in a lot of ways. Yes, I think you’ll LOVE a Christmas bathroom! You could try after-Christmas sales at Bed Bath and Beyond to see if you can find a good shower curtain. And yes- I know exactly what you mean about all the Christmas shirts being long sleeved! What I really want are some Christmas-y tank tops but I’ll probably never find those. How are you liking our cold snap? I actually was able to wear a Christmas sweater all day today! Merry Christmas!!!
Stephany
Ooh, very good call, Jenny! I think I could convince my mom to take a trip to BB&B this week. Yes, yes!
It was so nice having an ACTUALLY cold Christmas! I’m loving this weather so much.
Kim
I love love love seeing your wonderland!!! I really do like the little trees as accents – that’s so clever and they work great as fill!
The ornaments from the cats are ADORABLE! I love purrsonalized stuff like that! And yay for hanging your new library card ornament. I love that your tree almost goes to the ceiling! We love big trees too.
I hope you find some cute short sleeved tees on sale this week! And some stuff for the bathroom.
Thanks for the shoutout for my rocks! I will have to keep adding to your holiday collection 😉
We are somewhat minimalist but each room has at least one thing! I am VERY MUCH in love with the holiday cat soap holder I got from B&BW this year. It plays jingle bells when you get soap, then you wash your hands for the length of the song!
Stephany
I NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CAT SOAP HOLDER. That is something I absolutely need.
I forgot to take a picture of my desk but I definitely have two more holiday cat rocks there, too!
Kate Kaput
I especially love your coffee table setup!
San
I absolutely LOVE that you go all out for Christmas (even though you’re just doing it for yourself – and visitors). It looks absolutely festive and wonderful. And your tree is gorgeous. I love that you have a full size tree, even in a small apartment.
I also count the “fake TV fireplace” as Christmas decor. We use it quite a bit this time of year 🙂
Anne
This made me smile so much, even this far into the new year. You are such a Christmas maximalist! I love it, despite my grinchiness. It brings me joy to see how much you love and appreciate your decorations (even though the thought of having that many for me is… slightly overwhelming!). <3
