Week in the Life: Friday, October 27

6:30 AM // My alarm goes off. Since I’m not taking a shower this morning, it means a little more time to sleep in. Once my alarm goes off, I turn it off and then get up and get ready for work while listening to an episode of Stuff You Should Know. I also make a fresh pot of coffee since I ran out of iced coffee yesterday.

7:10 AM // I wake up Dutch and take him out. He’s sleepy and doesn’t want to walk very far this morning.

7:20 AM // I commute to work and listen to my Spotify playlist on the way there. I leave a bit earlier than normal and traffic is so easy-breezy that I realize that I need to leave for work earlier more often.

7:50 AM // I get to work and turn on my computer. I get into a conversation about last night’s game with a coworker.

8:10 AM // I start my number one task for today, which is finishing the writing assignment I started yesterday. It takes a little time to get settled into my writing brain, but once I do, the writing comes easily.

8:40 AM // Bagels are here! I take a break to toast a bagel in the break room and chit-chat with my coworkers before bringing the bagel back to my desk to eat while reading some blogs.

9:00 AM // I’m back to my writing task after that delicious break and finish up the pages. Yay!

9:30 AM // A coworker comes by my desk to chat about fantasy football and I’m more than happy to talk to him about it. Fantasy football is one of my favorite subjects!

9:50 AM // For the next hour and a half, work keeps me supremely busy. I barely look up from my computer! One of my clients launched their new website, so I work on the post-launch tasks associated with that account. I start working on a long email to my manager about the keyword plans I need guidance on soon. I edit the pages I wrote this morning. And I check off a few tasks for the new accounts I had meetings for this week. All in all, it’s a super productive morning – I don’t even know it’s time to leave until I see my coworkers heading out the door!

11:35 AM // I shut down my computer – another week of work is in the books. Yay! I drive to Publix to pick up a Pub sub for lunch and a birthday card + gift card for a friend.

11:50 AM // Publix doesn’t have any good birthday cards, wah. But I do find the gift card I was looking for and get my sub, so all is not lost.

12:05 PM // I drive home and Dutch is super excited to see me. We go on a very long afternoon walk. It is so gorgeous outside – 77 degrees and sunny! I could stay outside forever.

12:30 PM // We get back inside and I eat my lunch while reading some blogs.

12:50 PM // I clean up after my lunch, take off my makeup and get into comfy clothes, and then get into bed with Dutch. Oh yeah, it’s Friday afternoon nap time! I read a chapter of my book and scroll through some Instagram Stories.

1:30 PM // Nap time!

3:30 PM // I wake up from my nap and scroll through Twitter for a while. I know a lot of people say they don’t like to take naps because it makes them feel groggy, but I kinda love that post-nap groggy phase. I just lay in my bed and scroll through social media and soon enough, I feel ready to face the world again.

3:50 PM // I drive to Walgreens to see if I can find a good birthday card, and I manage to find a great one. Hooray!

4:20 PM // I’m back home and lay on my bed, reading my book. I finish it and then spend some time scrolling through Goodreads while I try to select my next read. (I decide on a Lauren Layne romance.)

4:50 PM // I take a shower and start getting ready for tonight while listening to an episode of my fantasy football podcast.

5:30 PM // I wake Dutch up (he’s been napping on my bed all afternoon, lazy bum!) and we go on a very slow walk.

5:40 PM // My friend, M., arrives and she spends some time loving on Dutch before we leave to meet our other friends at a restaurant in downtown St. Pete.

6:15 PM // Dinner with my girls! We eat at a new-to-me place called Bodega and sit outside. I got their burger and it was fine, but nothing special. I’d probably try another menu item next time I go!

7:10 PM // After dinner, we say goodbye to my friend, A., and then the three of us head over to the movie theater to see Marshall.

7:30 PM // Movie time! Marshall is phenomenal and one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. I encourage everyone to see it!

9:45 PM // The three of us walk back to the parking garage to get our cars, talking about the movie and how much we enjoyed tonight. I love nights with my ladies!

9:55 PM // I drive home with M. and get slightly lost in downtown St. Pete, as I usually do. I’ve lived in this area my whole life and DTSP still confuses me. So many one-way streets!

10:15 PM // I’m home and I say goodbye to M. I come inside my apartment to find Dutch waiting for me inside my bedroom. We go on a nice long walk (he’s got some energy to burn, apparently).

10:30 PM // Back inside and I give Dutch his meds (it’s very late for his meds, so I have a feeling I’ll be up with him tonight) and then sit down with him to hand-feed him his dinner, but he doesn’t eat much of it. Sigh.

10:50 PM // I start working on this post and Dutch is very whiny and barky, so I bring him up to bed and continue writing this post from bed.

11:25 PM // I do my nightly routine and then start reading my romance. Dutch is very anxious tonight, so I just try to rub his back and snuggle with him as he tries to settle down. (And before you think I’m a saint, I get very, very impatient with him tonight. This shit is not easy and I’m not always my best self with him, especially when it’s late and I just want to go to sleep.)

11:50 PM // Dutch is finally asleep. And so am I. Good night!

Tell me something good about your Friday!

Week in the Life: Thursday, October 26

4:45 AM // My alarm goes off. I’m up and getting ready for a morning walk. It’s another chilly morning – 59 degrees! I wear long pants and a hoodie, yes I do. I’m a Florida girl. My blood is thin!

4:55 AM // I go for a long walk outside and listen to an episode of With Friends Like These.

6:00 AM // I’m back home and find Dutch still sleeping on my bed. Yay! I jump in the shower and then get ready for work while listening to an episode of Dear Sugars.

7:10 AM // I wake up Dutch and we go on a walk.

7:25 AM // I commute to work and decide to listen to my Spotify playlist rather than a podcast. I just don’t have the mental energy for a podcast right now. I need to zone out.

8:00 AM // I arrive at work and turn on my computer. I chit-chat with some of my coworkers for a little while before getting started on work.

8:15 AM // My first task of the day is editing a set of pages that came into my inbox near the end of the day yesterday.

8:50 AM // Editing complete and emailed back to my coworker. I take a break to go to the bathroom and fix my contact. Today, my right contact is fine, but my left contact is blurry. It’s always something! And then I realize my left contact is inside out. Ohhhh. That would be why. Thankfully, once I pop it back in, I can see without a problem. Oh, happy day! Once I get back to my desk, I eat my yogurt and read a few blogs.

9:05 AM // I start editing meeting notes that came into my inbox yesterday from the meeting we had on Tuesday afternoon. I’m not the writer on the account, but the writing coordinator, which means I do all of the editing and put together the client’s marketing plan. So the writer sent me a summary of their notes (we use a template that has specific questions that we need the client to confirm the answers to) and I edited it to make sure it’s client-ready.

9:45 AM // I send my edits to the writer and then take a brain break. My stomach is growling (weird!), so I eat a granola bar and read some blogs.

10:00 AM // I start working on a writing project I was assigned this morning, writing a few website blurbs for a new client. Unfortunately, it’s so hard to get started because it’s like using a completely different part of my brain. I feel like I’m trying to write for the first time.

11:00 AM // After writing the grand total of one sentence (yes, one sentence), I leave work to go home and take out Dutch. On weeks when I don’t work from home, I try to do Dutch duty once so my mom doesn’t have to do it four days in a row. (I work a half-day on Fridays, so I only need someone to let out Dutch at lunchtime Monday-Thursday.)

11:20 AM // I get inside my apartment to find Dutch fast asleep on the floor in my bedroom. What a sweetie. He wakes up when he hears me, and we go on a nice long walk! It’s in the high 60s and it. feels. amazing. Dutch wants to go further than I expected, and I’m happy to walk some more.

11:45 AM // Dutch and I go back inside and he gets a treat from me. Then I leave and drive to Panera to pick up lunch. Does your Panera have a drive-thru? It is the best thing Panera has ever done, seriously.

12:20 PM // I’m back at work and eating my lunch at my desk.

1:00 PM // I’m trying to write those website blurbs that I was struggling with earlier in the day, but I just can’t get it going. Instead, I procrastinate. The writer on my new account sent me back revised meeting notes, so I look those over. I edit some content and email it to my client. And then put together a new client folder. I’m basically doing literally anything I can do to avoid writing those blurbs.

1:45 PM // I take a brain break and then I follow a coworker into the break room when she lets me know that there’s cake (we have “cake day” to celebrate birthdays once a month). I get a piece and then stand around, chit-chatting with my coworkers. And then it gets to be crowded and I get anxious, so I leave. Haha.

2:15 PM // MUST. WRITE. BLURBS. And I do! Once I got settled and got my brain switched over to writing blurbs, I was able to get it done fairly quickly. Whew. I send the blurbs to a coworker for her edits. After that, I revise the meeting notes summary that I was working on yesterday for my new client (with this one, I am the writer!) and then send it to the lead on the account for his edits/notes. I also make a new client folder for that account.

2:45 PM // I take a brain break. I go into the break room to fill up my water cup and start chit-chatting with my coworkers. Everyone is discussing Halloween costumes and I decide to do a little more research on my costume idea, and come up with a much better option than I had previously thought of. Yay! This will be fun.

3:15 PM // I start working on a writing project that I was given yesterday. This one is time-sensitive and will be something different than I’m used to, so I’m looking forward to it! It should be fun!

5:30 PM // My day here is done. It’s been a productive one. I commute home while listening to an episode of Stuff Mom Never Told You.

5:50 PM // I’m home and I greet Dutch who is waiting for me in the kitchen. We go for a walk.

6:10 PM // I take a bubble bath and read my book. Bubble baths are my fave.

6:40 PM // After my bath, I put on pajamas and then lay on my bed and scroll through Instagram Stories. I need some time to just zone the heck out. My mind is processing so much right now.

7:00 PM // I finally force myself to get out of bed (even though I could probably fall asleep right now…) and do some stuff around the apartment. I put out my trash, throw some chicken nugs and tater tots in the oven (lazy dinner tonight), and pick up around the apartment. I also stress about my fantasy team for a while. I’m not having a good season, ugh.

7:35 PM // Time for dinner! I turn on an episode of The Carmichael Show (<– I’m so obsessed with this show and bummed that there are only three seasons) and eat.

8:10 PM // Dutch has been whining in my room for the past few minutes, so I pick him up and give him some snuggles. Then I hand-feed him dinner. He eats most of it.

8:30 PM // I get on the couch with Dutch and turn on the Thursday Night Football game. My beloved Dolphins are playing, but it’s pretty apparent from the start that this isn’t going to go well for my team. I work on this post and order some Halloween stuff from Amazon.

9:35 PM // I turn off the game because the Dolphins are just breaking my heart and I can’t handle it anymore. (I’m the best fan, I know.) I clean up the kitchen, do my nightly routine, and then get into bed with Dutch and my book.

10:30 PM // Lights out!

What was the best part about your Thursday?

Week in the Life: Wednesday, October 25

12:15 AM // I wake up to hear Dutch whining, which is super unusual for him now that he’s on anxiety meds. I give him a few minutes to settle down, and when he doesn’t, I get up and we go for a midnight walk. Fun. We come inside and I bring him right back to bed. Unfortunately, he’s still whining and restless, so I set him down on the floor, thinking he either needs some water or needs to pace, but he just sits there and whines. Senior dogs, man! I set him by his water bowl and push his face close to the water (not trying to drown my dog, but sometimes he doesn’t see his water bowl, especially at night), but he doesn’t drink – just sits there and stares at the bowl. Eventually, I just bring him back to bed and rub his back.

1:45 AM // I’ve been drifting in and out of sleep for the past hour or so, and this time when I wake up, I realize Dutch is quiet and has finally fallen asleep. Hallelujah! I get up to turn off my bathroom light. (I leave my bathroom light on when Dutch is restless at night because I think being in total darkness is super disorienting for him.) I fall right to sleep.

6:00 AM // My alarm wakes me up. I reach over to shut it off and fall back to sleep. (I don’t snooze my alarm. I just turn it off and trust myself to wake up within 10-15 minutes. This method has only failed me a few times. What can I say, I like living on the edge!)

6:15 AM // I finally get up and jump right into the shower. Another crazy night with Dutch means I am sleepy this morning. Once out of the shower, I get ready for the day while listening to an episode of the Another Round podcast.

7:10 AM // I wake up Dutch, who is snoozing away on my bed, and we go on a very slow morning walk. But here’s the great news: it’s 66 degrees this morning! It feels like fall! What is this madness? I love it so much. We come back inside after a slow and meandering walk and I give him a treat and fresh food and water.

7:30 AM // Commute to work while listening to an episode of Stuff Mom Never Told You.

8:05 AM // I get to work, turn on my computer, and respond to a few time-sensitive emails that came in early this morning. Then, I put my lunch away and take a trip to the bathroom to fix my right contact. I put in a brand-new pair of contacts today and whenever I do that, the right one always takes a few tries to settle in for some reason. Today is not any different. I take out my contact and put it back in twice, and my vision is still blurry. Sigh.

8:30 AM // I start my writing task for the day, but I’m working very slowly because of my right contact issues. It’s a little difficult when I can only see clearly out of one eye, who knew?!

9:00 AM // I’m suddenly hungry, so I eat the yogurt I brought for breakfast and read some blogs. I also go back to the bathroom to fix my contact, but my vision is still blurry. Three cheers for astigmatism?

9:15 AM // Back to my desk and I get back to my writing task.

9:40 AM // I start prepping for my meeting this morning. It’s highly unusual to have two new client meetings in one week, but I begged my team leader to give me these accounts on Monday. Since my workload is so minimal this week, I’m glad about it! I grab a laptop, look over the notes the client sent over beforehand, and peruse their website.

10:00 AM // I head to a conference room for the meeting. Just like yesterday, the client is calling in over a conference line. This meeting is very quick (he works in an industry we’re very familiar with, and the client is also very succinct and to the point). We’re done in 45 minutes.

10:45 AM // I transfer my notes to my computer, return the laptop, and then take a much-needed bathroom break (iced coffee goes right through me!) I see a text message from my mom that she’s emailed me. She dropped Dutch off for his vet appointment this morning and just gave me a run-down of what drop-off was like. We’re hoping to get answers later this afternoon!

11:00 AM // I start working on a summary of the notes I took at the meeting, which is fairly straightforward. This client isn’t going to be too difficult, thankfully!

11:30 AM // I have a minor freak-out when my password for Overdrive stops working. I don’t even know why! I eventually had to do a password reset. The good news is that this minor snafu caused me to download the Libby app, so I’m finally using that now. (Supposedly, it’s a much more user-friendly alternative to Overdrive. We shall see!)

11:45 AM // It’s lunchtime. My stomach is growling. I have leftovers from last night: baked chicken, peas, and rice. Yum, yum, yum. I love leftovers for lunch! I spend the first half of my lunch break at my desk, perusing a Reddit forum while I eat, and the second half outside in the crisp air, reading my book.

12:45 PM // I freshen up my makeup in the bathroom and then start my first task of the afternoon: publishing content to one of my clients’ websites.

1:30 PM // Once that task is complete, I take a short brain break and read some blogs. Unless I’m super busy, I can’t transition from one task to the other without a brain break. Anyone else?

1:45 PM // I start editing a coworker’s pages.

3:00 PM // Editing finished, so I take another brain break to eat a granola bar and read some blogs. Then I realize I haven’t heard back from Dutch’s vet, so I go downstairs and call them. They tell me that the vet wants to discuss the test results and will call me back soon. Okay. Sure. Fine. THAT DOESN’T WORRY ME AT ALL.

3:30 PM // I’m back at my desk and trying to focus on work. I talk to my cube buddy about the call to the vet because I needed to talk to someone about it. It’s not something I can keep inside! I try to do some writing, but my focus isn’t really here. Still, I manage to write a page.

4:20 PM // My mom texts me and says that the vet called her (not sure why!), and that I should give her a call when I have a moment. The news from the vet is a lot to process and I’m not sure I’m ready to discuss all of it yet (I’m sorry to be so vague – I hate when people do that!), but the good news is, he doesn’t have any major, life-threatening health issues and he’s as healthy as he can be for a geriatric dog.

4:40 PM // I go back to my desk and try to get back to writing, but it’s hard to focus. I just want to go and pick up Dutch and give him all of the snuggles!

5:30 PM // I leave work and drive to PetSmart while listening to a Stuff You Should Know podcast episode.

6:00 PM // Get to PetSmart and my mom is waiting for me. We decided to pick him up together and it’s a good thing we do because when we get into PetSmart, there is a seven-month-old Frenchie waiting at the Banfield counter. (My mom is obsessed with Frenchies and has been obsessively searching for one.) We love on the little Frenchie while we wait for the vet to bring Dutch to us.

6:15 PM // Reunited with my love and we drive home. He’s a monster in the car. I really need to get him one of those dog car seats.

6:22 PM // We’re home! Dutch immediately walks over to his food bowl and starts chowing down. I unpack my bags, take out my contacts (the right one never settled in all damn day, so annoying), and pick up around the apartment. I also put my freshly laundered sheets on my bed.

7:00 PM // Off to the grocery store to pick up a Pub sub for dinner, detergent pods, and a dessert because today has been an emotional day and I need some cookies.

7:28 PM // Back home and I pick up my mail. Oh, happy day! I got two deliveries of stuff I ordered over the weekend (I need some cold-weather clothes for my trip to Asheville next month).

7:30 PM // I start a bubble bath and open my packages: a coat and two long-sleeved t-shirts. I love them!

7:35 PM // Time for a very relaxing bubble bath. So nice! I read some more of my book (I’m not loving this book, but powering through anyway).

8:00 PM // I throw my comforter in the washer, give Dutch his meds, and then sit down with a few episodes of The Carmichael Show and my dinner.

8:40 PM // I start working on this post and eat cookies. Yessss.

9:20 PM // I hand feed Dutch the rest of his dinner and then take him out. Then, I clean up the kitchen and do my nightly routine.

10:00 PM // Finally in bed, reading my book and scrolling through Instagram Stories.

10:30 PM // Lights out!

Tell me something awesome about your Wednesday!

Week in the Life: Tuesday, October 24

12:00 AM // It’s midnight when I wake up to discover Dutch has barfed all over my bed. It is very unpleasant, but I set him down on the floor and strip the bed. He just sits there patiently waiting for me, poor little dude. I put down a sheet on my bed and then grab all of Dutch’s blankets and the blanket from my couch to keep us warm tonight. (My comforter needs to be washed.) I pick up Dutch and snuggle him in my arms. He’s a little restless, but eventually calms down.

12:30 AM // Dutch is finally asleep and I eventually drift off, too.

4:45 AM // My alarm goes off and I have no idea what day it is and why my alarm is going off. Then I remember: it’s Tuesday and I’m supposed to go for a long walk this morning. Since this means I get to listen to a podcast, I’m not too annoyed at my alarm! In the dark, quiet apartment, I put on some workout clothes and slip out the door without waking Dutch up.

5:00 AM // I go on a morning walk – it’s dark and in the low 70s and feels perfect outside. I finish the episode of Pod Save America that I started last night and start an episode of Stuff You Should Know.

5:50 AM // It starts to sprinkle near the end of my walk and doesn’t seem to be letting up, so I decide turn around and go home. And good thing I do because right as I get under the overhang by my apartment, the rain starts coming down harder.

6:00 AM // Once inside my apartment, I check on Dutch – he’s still sleeping! I take a shower and then get ready for the day while finishing up the Stuff You Should Know podcast episode.

7:10 AM // Dutch is still snoozing away on my bed, so I rub his back to wake him up (just like my mom did when I was a kid, haha). He slowly opens his eyes and lets me put his harness on. When I pick him up, he slumps over on me, so I get some extra snuggles and kisses in this morning. I don’t mind this at all! We go on a short morning walk.

7:25 AM // I commute to work while listening to an episode of the Real Talk Radio podcast. Traffic is a little backed up when I get onto the bridge, but nothing like yesterday!

8:00 AM // Once at work, I turn on my computer and then go into the break room to put away my lunch and grab a spoon for my yogurt. But when I check the drawer, there are no spoons! Uh-oh. I lament this fact to the coworkers who are standing in the break room, and one of them tells me to go downstairs to the deli to get a spoon, but I tell him I’d feel weird doing that and not buying anything! Instead, I take a fork from the drawer and figure I’ll just try to make it work!

8:15 AM // I come back to my desk and start going through my emails when my coworker stops by… with a spoon from the deli! Hooray! Soon after, my cubicle buddy arrives and we chit-chat for a little while about her new dog. (Who looks exactly like Paul Anka from Gilmore Girls. Exactly.) I also eat my yogurt.

8:45 AM // I guess it’s time to finally get started on work? Oops. Good thing I’m super ahead of schedule with my workload this month! I start my main task of the day, which is publishing my monthly content on two of my clients’ websites. It’s a mindless task, so I finish up the episode of Real Talk Radio I was listening to and then start an episode of Good Christian Fun (…and try not to giggle in my quiet office!)

10:45 AM // I’m finished with this task, so I go downstairs to stretch my legs and decide to text my mom about whether or not I should schedule a vet appointment for Dutch. He just hasn’t seemed himself lately and two barfs in a matter of days is concerning. She thinks I should, so I call Banfield and schedule a time to drop him off tomorrow morning so the vet can do some tests and monitor him.

11:00 AM // I take the first half of my lunch break and eat PB&J and pretzels at my desk while catching up on a Reddit forum I follow.

11:30 AM // I prep for the meeting that’s taking place at noon: secure a laptop, download the meeting notes and read through them, and peruse the client’s website to familiarize myself with their services.

12:00 PM // I head to the conference room where the meeting will be. Two members of the writing team and the account manager for this client are there already. Since most of our clients are out of state, these meetings often take place over a conference call. Unfortunately, the client is a no-show. Womp!

12:20 PM // After waiting for 20 minutes, the account manager calls it and we all head back to our desks. I check my email and then I’m about to head outside for the second half of my lunch break when the account manager finds me and says the client called back. Meeting is back on! It’s a flurry of finding the other members of the writing team and getting us back into the conference room to get the meeting started. Whew.

2:30 PM // The meeting finishes and it’s a good one. The client was super personable and engaging and very informative about the services his company offers. Always a good thing! I go back to my desk, email myself the notes I took, and return the laptop.

2:40 PM // I go outside to take the second half of my lunch break.

3:10 PM // I’m back at my desk and I start going through the edits I received on the content I wrote yesterday. All pretty basic stuff and I finish this task fairly quickly.

3:30 PM // I send my team leader an email letting her know that I have room in my schedule for some extra editing work or projects she needs help on. It’s weird: some months, I’m buried in work and other months, I finish super early! And then I decide I’ll just get started on the monthly content that will be due in November. November is going to be a short month for me (I’m taking some time off and then there’s the Thanksgiving holiday), so it’s good to get ahead.

4:10 PM // My stomach starts growling and I realize it’s been a long time since lunch, so I snack on some pineapple. (One of my favorite fruits!)

4:30 PM // Back to writing.

5:30 PM // I commute home while listening to Good Christian Fun. The commute home is easy breezy!

5:45 PM // I set my stuff down and greet Dutch, who is just sitting in my bedroom with his gaze on the door. We go on a walk and it’s soooo nice outside. A gorgeous 76 degrees and I am loving it.

6:00 PM // Back inside, I give Dutch a treat and then take a bubble bath. Ahh. So needed.

6:30 PM // I throw the bedsheet and pillowcase that Dutch barfed on earlier into the wash… and then realize I don’t have enough laundry pods to wash my comforter. Lovely. Guess we’ll be using Dutch’s blankets again tonight! Then, I start working on this post.

6:55 PM // I throw the chicken that I started marinating last night into the oven. While that’s cooking, I pick up around the house, respond to blog comments, and read some blogs.

7:25 PM // Once the chicken is done, I heat up some peas and rice to round out my dinner. I watch a couple episodes of The Carmichael Show while I eat dinner.

8:10 PM // I take Dutch on a walk. (Side note: Tonight, Dutch ate dinner all on his own! Hooray!)

8:20 PM // I clean up the kitchen, pack my lunch, and do my nightly routine of washing my face and brushing my teeth. Of course, I listen to a podcast! (Death, Sex & Money this time) I also put my bedsheet in the dryer.

8:45 PM // I get into bed with Dutch and my book.

9:30 PM // Lights out!

Tell me something good about your Tuesday!

Week in the Life: Monday, October 23

It’s time for Week in the Life! This is the fourth year I’ve done this series, and it’s one of my favorites on the blog. Usually, I do Week in the Life in mid-November, but due to scheduling, this week worked out much better for me. I’m excited to take you all along in my life this upcoming week. (Let’s just hope I don’t get knocked down by another head cold like I did last year!)

Here’s what Monday looked like in my world.

6:00 AM // My alarm goes off and I stumble out of bed to silence it. I bring my phone back to bed with me and fall back asleep.

6:15 AM // I force myself out of bed and straight into the shower. Dutch had a rough night of sleep last night (he was up for over an hour in the middle of the night and then he was restless for the rest of the night, which is unusual for him since he’s been on his anti-anxiety meds), so I am one tired woman this morning. Hoping a shower will wake me up!

6:25 AM // Out of the shower and I start getting ready for work while listening to a Book Riot podcast. I opt for a braid today, since I just don’t have the energy to blow dry and straighten my hair. Since I saved time by not doing my hair, I’m ready for work a little early, so I do the dishes that I left in the sink last night, prepare my iced coffee, and read a few blogs.

7:15 AM // I wake Dutch up (he used to get up when I did, but now he just sleeps until I wake him up, like a proper teenager) and we go on a morning walk. He’s got some energy today, so our walk is a little longer than normal.

7:35 AM // I leave for work and traffic is a nightmare. There isn’t an accident on the bridge; traffic is just heavier than normal. Thankfully, I don’t mind too much because I get to listen to an episode of the What Should I Read Next? podcast.

8:30 AM // I finally arrive at work (30 minutes late!) and put my lunch away, turn on my computer, and sip my iced coffee while going through the emails that came in over the weekend (as a writer, I’m not expected to respond to emails at night or on the weekend) and establishing my to-do list for the day.

8:45 AM // My first task of the day is to email my monthly content to one of my clients, so I start working through the edits I received. Halfway through this task I realize I’m hungry so I eat some yogurt. Once the content has been emailed to my client, I update some files based on client feedback that was received last week.

10:00 AM // The usual Monday morning meeting with the account managers and those of us from the writing team who work with launching clients. We discuss all of the clients who are getting new website designs/content and their current status. I learn about two new clients that need a writing team assigned, so I beg my boss to give those clients to me after the meeting. I’m itching for some new clients! She agrees and seems very happy that I asked.

11:00 AM // After the meeting is over, I’m back at my desk and getting started on my writing task for the day.

11:30 AM // My stomach is growling, so I take a break to eat my lunch. A few weeks ago, I got a craving for PB&J and that’s a craving I can get behind because it’s suuuuch a cheap lunch. Haha. Unfortunately, I can feel myself getting sick of the PB&J, so this is probably the last week I’ll have it. (I have to constantly switch up what I eat for lunch because I get sick of things so easily.) While I’m eating my lunch, I read some blogs and use the second half of my lunch break to dive into my current read.

12:30 PM // Back to work and back to writing. I just need to finish up the content I started earlier and my big task of the day will be complete.

3:00 PM // Writing is done! I send the pages to a coworker for edits and then take a break to stretch out my legs. Once I’m back in the office, I grab my baggie of grapes and chow down while reading some blogs.

3:25 PM // I start sourcing the images I’ll need once I begin publishing the content I’ve written this month on my clients’ websites.

3:50 PM // My coworkers group chat explodes with the news that Hulk Hogan is in the lobby of our office building. Random?! A couple of the girls go downstairs to see if they can get a picture, but he disappears down a hallway and into an office before they can do so. Darn!

4:05 PM // Back to work after that fun diversion! I’m just sourcing images and chatting with a friend on gchat as the day winds down for me. I don’t want to get started on any major tasks right now, so once I’m done sourcing images, I read some blogs.

5:30 PM // Commute home while listening to a fantasy football podcast. For some reason, traffic is backed up getting onto the bridge (which never happens), but once I’m on the bridge, it’s smooth sailing.

6:00 PM // I’m home and it’s pouring down rain. The kind of rain where an umbrella doesn’t even do you a lick of good. I rush inside my apartment, set down my stuff, and greet Dutch who is sitting just inside the bedroom. At this point in his life, I have to let him sniff me every time I come home so he knows it’s me. (Aging dogs break my heart, man.) Once he realizes it’s his girl, he gets super excited and we go outside for his walk. He decides that a little rain didn’t hurt anybody, so he prances around outside like it’s 80 degrees and sunny. Meanwhile, I get soaked even though I have an umbrella.

6:10 PM // Back inside, Dutch gets rubbed down with a towel, and I get into comfy clothes and take off my makeup. Ahhh. Favorite part of the day!

6:15 PM // I start making dinner, which is healthy baked chicken nuggets (my favorite Skinnytaste recipe that I’ve been using for years) and roasted potatoes. While my food is cooking, I make the marinade for tomorrow night’s dinner (this recipe!) and then my mom Facetimes with me and we chat for a bit before her connection cuts out (womp).

7:00 PM // Time for dinner! I eat while watching an episode of Grace and Frankie.

7:30 PM // I start working on this post and then take a break to give Dutch his nightly meds and feed him dinner. Every now and then, he requires hand feeding and I think it’s because staying upright is more difficult at night. He’s constantly slipping around on my wood floors and doing the splits with his front legs. Sometimes, he whines at his food bowl. Seriously, it’s so damn hard to watch dogs get old.

8:00 PM // I put on today’s Pod Save America episode as background noise as I clean up the kitchen and make my lunch for tomorrow. I also do my nightly routine of brushing my teeth and washing my face.

8:30 PM // I finish writing this post, insert pictures, yadda yadda yadda.

9:00 PM // In bed with my book and my dog. Yay!

9:30 PM // Lights out!
