It’s Friday! How about we prepare for this holiday weekend with a virtual coffee date? I’m drinking a steaming hot cup of coffee, sweetened with creamer and a dash of sugar. Let’s dive right into our chat, yeah?
If we were having a coffee today… I would begin by talking about the DietBet I’m currently participating in. You guys! It is going so well. The biggest change I have made is with my exercise. After struggling for months and months and months with finding the motivation to exercise, I’ve been getting up early every day like it ain’t no thing. I don’t even struggle to get out of bed when my alarm goes off at 5am. I just get up! Like I’m some badass workout queen or something! I think committing myself to this DietBet and having accountability in our Facebook group has been instrumental. Plus! I’ve been tracking in MyFitnessPal every single day since the ‘Bet started. In the morning, I simply input all the food I’m going to eat for the day, so that way I have a plan for my eating & I don’t have to open the app every single time I eat something. I find this system works best for me. I have my second weigh-in tomorrow and I’m crossing my fingers I see a loss. (I’m so paranoid I’ve gained!)
If we were having coffee today… I would also mention how I’m thinking of buying a heart rate monitor – and probably ask if you have a good recommendation for one! I’ve wanted to get one for months, but I’ve kept putting it off, but now that I’m counting calories, I think it would be super useful. Not only would it give me a slightly more accurate number than what MFP tells me, but it would help me to see how hard (or not hard!) I am working out, to make sure I’m always getting the fullest potential of my workouts.
If we were having coffee today… I would tell you how excited I am to leave on my cruise two weeks from Sunday! I haven’t been on a proper vacation since around this time last year, so I am well overdue. Every time I think about being on a ship again, I get so excited. I’ve mentioned it so many times, but cruising is truly my favorite way to vacation and I just can’t wait to get away.
If we were having coffee today… I would probably discuss the fact that I’ve decided to disable my online dating profiles for the time being. There are multiple reasons why I decided on this, but the biggest reason is that I really want to take the time to focus on myself right now. My biggest priority currently is my health and losing weight, and I don’t want anything to take my focus or attention away from that. I’m just at a point in my life where I can be completely selfish with my time and energy, and dating is not something I feel like extending those to.
If we were having coffee today… we would most likely talk about Easter and I would admit that I have no idea what my family is doing! My mom’s fiance is coming back to town after being on the road since early January, so we may end up doing what we did last year – going to church & then grilling out. That sounds A-OK to me!
If we were meeting for a coffee date, what would you like to tell me? What are your plans for the Easter weekend?

I love my Polar FT(4? 7? one of those. I think 7.) heart rate monitor! It’s pretty basic, but it gets the job done.
StephTheBookworm
I could not work out without my HRM. Once you get one, you’ll be surprised by your burns in comparison to what MFP says you’ve burned. I’ve been using the Polar FT4 since I started over two years ago, and really like it.
Nora
I would say that I’m glad that we have conversations throughout the week and are cheering each other on in our quest for healthier lifestyles! And that I wish I could go on that cruise with you.
I’m looking forward to Easter Brunch on Sunday, complete with mimosas, and for church on Sunday morning, too. It may be a little hard, but the only way “out” is through these things, right? =) Have an awesome weekend! xo

If you’re serious about your fitness goals, then I would definitely invest in a HRM! I bought this one last summer and I love it:

HRM’s also give you a more accurate idea of how many calories you burn during your workouts. The calories on MFP are always going to say you burned more then you actually did, unfortunately. 😛
Hope you and your fam have a fun Easter!

I almost bought a HRM on Black Friday but I ultimately went with a Garmin because running stats are more important to me (long-term) than calories burned. My Garmin came with a HRM attachment but I’ve never tried it. After reading this post + the comments I’m curious what it would say! Maybe I’ll try it for my run tomorrow.
I also input all the food I know I’m eating into MFP in the morning. Oddly it helps me stay on track and eat what I planned. I am loving the Facebook group, too! Knowing everyone will be sharing their workouts motivates me to complete mine so I can share too.
If your cruise is getting closer that means mine is not far behind! I finally confirmed with two of my friends that they will be watching my cats while I’m gone which is a huge relief. Now I am nothing but excited!!

“I just get up! Like I’m some badass workout queen or something!”
Um, you ARE a badass workout queen! I got to 6 AM yoga once a week so I’m up at little after 5, but I do NOT think I could do that every day!
If we were having coffee today I would tell you that allergies are kicking my a**. Like woah. I know 90% of it is the back and forth weather (70 degrees, no 40 degrees!) but it needs to get under control ASAP.
Kara
We never make any big plans for Easter. We’re not religious, so we don’t be going to church, but I did make a request for the Easter Bunny to stop off at our house for Isla, so we’ll see what happens there 😉
If we were having coffee I’d give you mad fist-bumps for your progress on the DietBet! Keep it up! 😀
Melissa
I am just SO jealous about your cruise. This is the first time in 3 years that I’m not planning any vacation whatsoever, and it literally hurts my soul. You’re going to have a BLAST! Enjoy for both of us!

If we were having coffee, I would probably treat myself to something special to celebrate the good news this week. We’d talk about my job offer and the moving process and how I am stressed about it all but trying to focus on the excitement of the fact that I am moving home!! I’d also high five you for doing so well with the diet bet! I hope that you had a good weigh in this week! I think tracking your food at the start of the day is a good idea. I do that when I am tracking for WW, too, but lately I have fallen off the tracking wagon…
I spent Easter weekend with my family in the Gatlinburg area which was so much fun. It was a beautiful place to visit and I had so much fun with my brother, SIL, niece, and nephew!

Funny that you just shut down your dating profiles…I’ve actually decided to ramp mine up. eHarmony sent me an amazing three month deal I couldn’t pass up.
I’m proud of you though- when I was losing weight and actively getting healthy, I pretty much ignored dating and focused solely on me. It was an amazing time in my life and taught me to truly love myself.
Best of luck! <3

If we were having coffee I would tell you how again I think I need to buckle down on my healthy eating and exercise and how I still haven’t even started running again and that was my only goal for April. I’d tell you I’m going to go for a short run after work just to do it. I’d also tell you I’m doing a modified sugar detox for myself – no candy or desserts, moderate food, low amounts of bread and pasta, no added sweeteners. I don’t think I’m ready for a full detox.

I’m SO GLAD you are doing so well on the DietBet! And your second weigh-in went well too didn’t it? I’m up 2 pounds after the long weekend but I know it’s probably a lot just water weight so I’m going to really clean up my eating the next two days and weigh again on Thursday. I need to lose 3 pounds from what I am right now to win my Jillian Michael’s DietBet which ends on Monday.
Also, heart rate monitor is an awesome idea! I love mine and it’s super motivating to get extra calories each day. Especially when using MFP to track calories in and out! I have a polar heart rate monitor that I love. I can’t remember the kind but it’s green – haha. Eric also has the H6 polar heart rate strap which syncs with his iPhone using bluetooth. It was only $80 so a bit cheaper than getting a strap and watch.
