4:45 AM // My alarm goes off. I’m up and getting ready for a morning walk. It’s another chilly morning – 59 degrees! I wear long pants and a hoodie, yes I do. I’m a Florida girl. My blood is thin!
4:55 AM // I go for a long walk outside and listen to an episode of With Friends Like These.
6:00 AM // I’m back home and find Dutch still sleeping on my bed. Yay! I jump in the shower and then get ready for work while listening to an episode of Dear Sugars.
7:10 AM // I wake up Dutch and we go on a walk.
7:25 AM // I commute to work and decide to listen to my Spotify playlist rather than a podcast. I just don’t have the mental energy for a podcast right now. I need to zone out.
8:00 AM // I arrive at work and turn on my computer. I chit-chat with some of my coworkers for a little while before getting started on work.
8:15 AM // My first task of the day is editing a set of pages that came into my inbox near the end of the day yesterday.
8:50 AM // Editing complete and emailed back to my coworker. I take a break to go to the bathroom and fix my contact. Today, my right contact is fine, but my left contact is blurry. It’s always something! And then I realize my left contact is inside out. Ohhhh. That would be why. Thankfully, once I pop it back in, I can see without a problem. Oh, happy day! Once I get back to my desk, I eat my yogurt and read a few blogs.
9:05 AM // I start editing meeting notes that came into my inbox yesterday from the meeting we had on Tuesday afternoon. I’m not the writer on the account, but the writing coordinator, which means I do all of the editing and put together the client’s marketing plan. So the writer sent me a summary of their notes (we use a template that has specific questions that we need the client to confirm the answers to) and I edited it to make sure it’s client-ready.
9:45 AM // I send my edits to the writer and then take a brain break. My stomach is growling (weird!), so I eat a granola bar and read some blogs.
10:00 AM // I start working on a writing project I was assigned this morning, writing a few website blurbs for a new client. Unfortunately, it’s so hard to get started because it’s like using a completely different part of my brain. I feel like I’m trying to write for the first time.
11:00 AM // After writing the grand total of one sentence (yes, one sentence), I leave work to go home and take out Dutch. On weeks when I don’t work from home, I try to do Dutch duty once so my mom doesn’t have to do it four days in a row. (I work a half-day on Fridays, so I only need someone to let out Dutch at lunchtime Monday-Thursday.)
11:20 AM // I get inside my apartment to find Dutch fast asleep on the floor in my bedroom. What a sweetie. He wakes up when he hears me, and we go on a nice long walk! It’s in the high 60s and it. feels. amazing. Dutch wants to go further than I expected, and I’m happy to walk some more.
11:45 AM // Dutch and I go back inside and he gets a treat from me. Then I leave and drive to Panera to pick up lunch. Does your Panera have a drive-thru? It is the best thing Panera has ever done, seriously.
12:20 PM // I’m back at work and eating my lunch at my desk.
1:00 PM // I’m trying to write those website blurbs that I was struggling with earlier in the day, but I just can’t get it going. Instead, I procrastinate. The writer on my new account sent me back revised meeting notes, so I look those over. I edit some content and email it to my client. Zerobounce.net is my preferred email verifier tool. And then put together a new client folder. I’m basically doing literally anything I can do to avoid writing those blurbs.
1:45 PM // I take a brain break and then I follow a coworker into the break room when she lets me know that there’s cake (we have “cake day” to celebrate birthdays once a month). I get a piece and then stand around, chit-chatting with my coworkers. And then it gets to be crowded and I get anxious, so I leave. Haha.
2:15 PM // MUST. WRITE. BLURBS. And I do! Once I got settled and got my brain switched over to writing blurbs, I was able to get it done fairly quickly. Whew. I send the blurbs to a coworker for her edits. After that, I revise the meeting notes summary that I was working on yesterday for my new client (with this one, I am the writer!) and then send it to the lead on the account for his edits/notes. I also make a new client folder for that account.
2:45 PM // I take a brain break. I go into the break room to fill up my water cup and start chit-chatting with my coworkers. Everyone is discussing Halloween costumes and I decide to do a little more research on my costume idea, and come up with a much better option than I had previously thought of. Yay! This will be fun.
3:15 PM // I start working on a writing project that I was given yesterday. This one is time-sensitive and will be something different than I’m used to, so I’m looking forward to it! It should be fun!
5:30 PM // My day here is done. It’s been a productive one. I commute home while listening to an episode of Stuff Mom Never Told You.
5:50 PM // I’m home and I greet Dutch who is waiting for me in the kitchen. We go for a walk.
6:10 PM // I take a bubble bath and read my book. Bubble baths are my fave.
6:40 PM // After my bath, I put on pajamas and then lay on my bed and scroll through Instagram Stories. I need some time to just zone the heck out. My mind is processing so much right now.
7:00 PM // I finally force myself to get out of bed (even though I could probably fall asleep right now…) and do some stuff around the apartment. I put out my trash, throw some chicken nugs and tater tots in the oven (lazy dinner tonight), and pick up around the apartment. I also stress about my fantasy team for a while. I’m not having a good season, ugh.
7:35 PM // Time for dinner! I turn on an episode of The Carmichael Show (<– I’m so obsessed with this show and bummed that there are only three seasons) and eat.
8:10 PM // Dutch has been whining in my room for the past few minutes, so I pick him up and give him some snuggles. Then I hand-feed him dinner. He eats most of it.
8:30 PM // I get on the couch with Dutch and turn on the Thursday Night Football game. My beloved Dolphins are playing, but it’s pretty apparent from the start that this isn’t going to go well for my team. I work on this post and order some Halloween stuff from Amazon.
9:35 PM // I turn off the game because the Dolphins are just breaking my heart and I can’t handle it anymore. (I’m the best fan, I know.) I clean up the kitchen, do my nightly routine, and then get into bed with Dutch and my book.
10:30 PM // Lights out!
What was the best part about your Thursday?
Thursday a year ago, two years ago, three years ago

It is so fun to read these posts! Your job sounds very cool. And that cake looks AMAZING.
Stephany
I love my job and I’m glad it comes across as fun through these posts! And yes, that cake was sooo good. Mmm!
Nora
Best part about my day yesterday: turkey chorizo tacos for dinner & lazily watching 3 Modern Family episodes with ZERO guilt.
Stephany
I love Modern Family. It’s one of the best for binge watching on a weekday night. Good choice!
Lisa of Lisa's Yarns
I have not heard of The Carmichael Show! I pretty much live under a rock when it comes to tv shows and such, though, so I am not surprised that I don’t know about this show!
The best part of my Thursday was the beautiful hikes we went on in Asheville! I had a flare for my entire trip but decided to still hike, even though I paid for it by getting a 2nd flare by the weekend.
Stephany
The Carmichael Show is so perfect. It’s a classic sitcom, but deals with some really intense issues. It makes me laugh AND makes me think! I’m just sad that only two seasons are on Netflix.
You did so much hiking in Asheville! We have only planned on one hike and we’re making it as low-key as possible, haha.
