Happy Monday, everyone! I feel more refreshed and recharged than ever for the week ahead and I’m ready to make it a fantastic one! This weekend was really one of the best weekends I’ve had in a while, which is funny because I spent most of it by myself. (My mom’s boyfriend took her to Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend so I had the place to myself!) And why was this weekend so great? Well, how about a list of what I loved this weekend? Yes? Yes.
>> Driving to Sarasota after work on Friday to meet up with a friend and listening to my first-ever audiobook on the way. (Jennifer Weiner’s The Next Best Thing.)
>> Playing Apples to Apples with a group of 13 people at a coffee shop and having the best time, being more social and lively than I usually am.
>> Leaving the coffee shop with the aforementioned friend to see a late showing of The Internship – good movie, but not as funny as I had hoped.
>> Getting home at 1AM on Friday night – so late for me! – and falling into a deep sleep until 9:30AM.
>> Waking up and immediately doing a fabulous, hard workout that left me super sweaty with fatigued muscles.
>> A visit to the library to pick up a requested book and find some smutty novels to read.
>> Having lots of time to myself to read quietly, get lots of writing done, and do a ton of cleaning.
>> Long walks with Dutch, one where he rolled around in the grass to his heart’s content.
>> A quiet, rainy Saturday night to myself where I picked up my favorite dinner, ordered Knocked Up from On Demand, and further developed my crush on Seth Rogan.
>> A lazy Sunday morning spent at the pool. I had the place to myself and it was so divine!
>> Reading a cheesy romance novel and finishing Mockingjay.
>> Barely turning on the TV and taking a break from social media for the weekend. Ahh, the peace!
>> Cancelled Sunday evening plans meant another quiet night in. I watched a favorite rom-com (He’s Just Not That Into You) and snuggled on the couch with Dutch. (Three movies in one weekend! That’s a record for me.)
>> Being alone with myself and just thoroughly enjoying the quiet and calm.
The theme for the weekend was peace and quiet, for sure. (And movies!) It was just so nice to be alone and take time for myself. I was hoping to have more social plans, but I ended up being really happy they fell through and I could really rest and recharge. It’s nice to have full, busy weekends but also nice when weekends are calm and I can get a lot of other things done.
Tell me, how was your weekend? What was your “theme”?

That sounds like an awesome weekend. I love Apples to Apples! That is probably my all time favorite game, and it’s especially fun with a big group!
The theme of my weekend was relaxation and being outdoors. I slept in both Sat and Sun (well, sleeping in for me, which means something different than it did when I was younger), spent a ton of time outdoors on Saturday and Sunday, and did a decent amount of reading. I also got 2 good workouts in on the stationary bike. It’s no replacement for running, but it gets my heart pumping and leaves me a sweaty mess, which is what I need these days!

Apples to Apples is my favorite game, too! I rarely get to play it & it’s SO fun with a big group. I had a blast!
Your weekend sounds fantastic! Good workouts, time outside, and plenty of time to read. Perfect! 🙂

That sounds like a great weekend! I love audiobooks and podcasts… I don’t spend a ton of time in the car, but I like to listen when I’m working in the kitchen, cleaning the house, etc. It makes the chore a lot more enjoyable.
Stephany
I have about a 20-30 minute commute to work and I find myself really looking forward to the drive to listen to my audiobook! I don’t see myself listening to it ALL the time since I don’t drive a ton, aside from the work commute, but it’s been a good experience so far!
Nora
I hope you’re enjoying the Weiner book. She is one of my favorites.
My theme for the weekend was relax- even though it was busy I told Knight last night as we took Jack on his late night walk that I felt more relaxed than I have in a long time. Maybe it was the two hours I sat by the fire last night and read or maybe it was just that I’m really at peace with how things are right now, but it was a welcome change from previous weeks. I am doing my best to keep it going through the week!
Stephany
That is such a good feeling – to feel relaxed and peaceful about life! Especially after it’s been insane and crazy. I’m so glad to hear how things are looking up for you!

My theme for the weekend was productive. I helped my friend with wedding stuff, cleaned the house, got in two solid runs and got in a huge grocery shop. There were also some relaxing moments like when Eric and I spent Sunday afternoon camped out on the couch watching a movie!
Stephany
Sounds like a fabulous weekend! Those weekends with just the right mixture of being productive and being lazy are the best!
Melissa
Sounds like you had a really nice weekend! He’s Just Not That Into You is a favorite of mine too 🙂

It’s so funny, though, to watch movies from just a few years ago. All the talk about MySpace and their flip phones – haha. Still SUCH a cute movie!
Gina
Wow, sounds like such a great weekend! The perfect mix of friend time and you time.
I had a pretty relaxing weekend as well: I went swimming, workout out, got chores/errands done, hung out with a friend, hung out with my husband, cooked, napped, etc.
Yay for relaxing and productive weekends. 🙂
Stephany
Sounds perfect! Productive and relaxing weekends are really some of my favorites. It feels like a true weekend and getting back to the grind doesn’t feel so horrible. 😉

Love me some Apples to Apples. I spent the weekend in Philly for my boyfriend’s brother’s surprise birthday party, & we played a lot of Cards Against Humanity, which is similar but raunchier. It was a lot of fun, but I was really glad to get home. Crashing at someone else’s place for two nights & two-&-a-half days is exhausting!
Stephany
I really, really want to play Cards Against Humanity but I was at a Christian hangout so YEAH. Haha. I was in enough trouble when I played “whips” for “fantastic”. I’m not sure I will be welcomed back. 😉

That sounds like a perfect weekend. I love days to myself sometimes! I also listen to audiobooks and podcasts when I run! Sometimes it’s just what I need, although I don’t always pay total attention to it all the time; it makes it so I can do two things at once!
