Weekly Weigh-In #5

weighin

It’s been a while since I’ve done a weekly weigh-in post and I have missed them. These posts really help me stay on track with eating well and exercising regularly, and both have been suffering for a few weeks now.

My first DietBet ended right before I left on my cruise. It actually ended the Monday I was on my cruise, and I was able to get a code to weigh in early, but I actually fell short of winning. I needed to lose 1 lb, and I only lost .4. But honestly? I am not upset about not winning! I am really, really proud of myself, for losing 6.4 lbs in 4 weeks and for being super serious about healthy living.

I also took my measurements and found out I also lost 8.5 inches around my body. !!! That’s a whole lotta inches. I knew I had to be losing inches because my clothes were fitting me so well. I was feeling good.

Then the cruise happened and I didn’t eat well, as typically happens when you’re on vacation. I was active most days, either through walking, using the stairs on the ship, or doing a workout (okay, I only got in an actual workout once, ha!). But my body is really awesome at gaining weight easily so I wasn’t surprised to get on the scale after my cruise and find out I had gained weight. As in, most of the weight I lost in the weeks prior hopped right back on!

It happens. I don’t regret my vacation or eating as I did. I only go on a cruise once a year and if that means I gain 4-5 lbs during them, then that’s what happens.

So here’s how my weight loss and gains have worked out over the past few weeks:

Right before leaving on my cruise: -.4 lbs
After my cruise: +4.2 lbs
This week: -1.1 lbs

I am really happy to see a weight loss this past week because I haven’t been great at eating well and exercising. I won’t even write down my exercise for this past week because it was pathetic. I’m getting over a head cold (and I don’t exercise when I’m sick, even though I know you technically can with a head cold, but nope, not my thing!), so that was part of the reason, and it’s also interesting how easy you can fall out of the habit of something! I am hoping that knowing I’m going to have to write these posts, detailing my exercise and eating habits will get me back on track.

So! Let’s talk about goals for this upcoming week, okay?

1. Get back to tracking. I’ve totally fallen out of the habit of tracking because it can be so tedious and annoying. But I know it helps and keeps me mindful of what I’m eating, so back to MFP I go!
2. Exercise 6 days. I feel so much better about myself when I’m exercising regularly. I only managed to exercise a few days last week, so I need to get back to my usual six-days-a-week routine.
3. Drink no more than 3 Dr. Peppers. Oh, soda. My favorite substance! I don’t want to go cold turkey off soda, but I do need to severely limit how much of it I drink. Three seems doable!

Do you have a hard time getting back on track with healthy living after a vacation?

Great goals for the week. I also love me some Dr. Pepper. 🙂 I struggled big time getting back on track after our cruise! I’m glad to see you were able to lose weight even though you just got back!

I can have a hard time getting back on track if I take consecutive days off from working out. I think I feel more lethargic because I am not working out so I don’t feel like working and it just sort of becomes this cycle of laziness. So I try to remember how much better I feel when I am working out and eating better consistently. This last month has been very chaotic for me between moving, driving half ways across the country, and living with family temporarily until I move into my condo on Friday. So I feel kind of meh about my routine right now. But I made it a goal to do 31 workouts in 31 days since the 30 in 30 days challenge was so motivating for me in April and I am on track to make that goal so feel good about it!

Nice work on losing this week!

I don’t tend to put on weight very easily and even I put on like 4 pounds or so after my cruise. I felt really awful when I came home though and school stress helped me shed it away. I definitely regretted how I ate, to be honest, but it was an experience and I think if I did another cruise I might be much more careful! Those places are just pools of weight-gain. I’ve never seen anything like that in Canada. It was very interesting. I blame Guy’s burgers 😛

UGH! I was wondering what ended up happening with the DietBet. What a bummer you just fell short. I hope you will join my next one that I’m hosting June 13 – July 10. It starts and ends on a Friday this time and I’m hoping that will be easier for people.

I am having no trouble at all getting back on track after my recent 2-week vacation because I indulged SO MUCH it’s nice to eat healthy clean food again! I ‘m sure this will only last like a week though and then the temptations will be back. lol

Nice job this week! I have not been sticking to my goals well and I have no excuses. Now I’m about to go on vacation so the next Diet Bet will be perfect timing to get back on track. I usually am READY to eat clean when I get back from vacation especially if I’ve over-indulged too much.

I haven’t been on vacation in so long, but I am finding that it’s so much harder for me to eat well and exercise on the weekends. Apparently I really thrive on the routine and structure of the work week. I did run a 5k over the weekend but I let myself eat whatever for the past three days so I’m back to tracking again today. It’s supposed to rain all week so looks like I’ll be doing yoga or videos at home instead of running.

nice job on the weight loss last week! Bet that feels great.

I think I’m the anomaly here; I can get in some awesomely long and challenging workouts on the weekends, more so than the weekdays. I discovered that a medicine I was taking can cause metabolism/weight gain issues and oddly enough I started noticing that I was gaining weight shortly after I took it. I’m not taking it anymore (it’s not one crucial to my existence) so I’m hoping between the exercising + watching what I eat, like I have been, I see some additional results.
