Happy Friday! This week has felt very long to me, for some reason. (I said many curse words when I woke up on Thursday morning and realized it wasn’t Friday.) But it’s been a good week and I’ve had a great start to the first few days of my DietBet. Yay! Let’s ease into the weekend with a fun “yesterday, today & tomorrow” post, yeah?
Yesterday, I…
- Woke up early to work out. My plan was to do 30 minutes of cardio, followed by 15-20 minutes of strength training, but I didn’t get started early enough to do both, so just did this elliptical interval workout I found on Pinterest, which was killer.
- Listened to the latest Joy the Baker podcast while getting ready for work. My new thing is listening to podcasts while I’m getting ready for the day and it is my favorite! (Joy and Tracy make me giggle so much!)
- Had the worst time focusing at work. Sometimes, I can whip through my writing easy as pie, and other days, it’s a struggle to write even one page of content. I was aiming to write 10 pages and only managed 8.
- Scheduled one of my cruise excursions! This is the first time my mom & I are trying an excursion that is not offered through the cruise line, but Carnival is lacking in fun, inexpensive excursions for the Bahamas. So, yesterday, I put down a deposit to spend the day at a resort! We’ll have free rein of their beach, pool, and bar area, use of kayaks and floats, as well as a $40 voucher each to spend on food and drinks. Spending the day laying by the pool and beach, sipping fruity drinks? Sign me up!
- Had an unsatisfying meal at Panera (I had their smoked turkey sandwich with a side salad and kettle chips and it did not fill me up!), so I came home and made popcorn, which was intensely satisfying. And polished it off with a Paleo chocolate-covered cookie dough bite!
Today, I…
- Woke up early (my fifth day in a row!) to exercise. Finding the motivation to exercise has been directly related to adding it to My Fitness Pal and gaining extra calories for the day. I try not to use them if I can, but it’s nice to have that buffer as staying at 1,200 calories a day is very hard for me. (Though to be honest, I am typically more concerned about staying within my limits for fat, carbs, sugar, and protein.)
- Have an easy day of work ahead of me: writing two pages of content and proofing a coworker’s pages. Yay, Friday!
- Will have taco leftovers for lunch. I am really, really excited about this. (Too excited?)
- Will take a nap. Because Fridays are for napping, amiright?
- Will meet with my writing friend at Starbucks to spend a few hours working on my WIP. Tonight, I plan on doing a lot of work on my plot, a character analysis, and my book blurb.
Tomorrow, I will…
- Weigh in for the DietBet! All I need to lose this week is 1.7 lbs, but I’m hoping to lose more to build a buffer. (I’m a little afraid that I won’t be able to keep this motivation up for three more weeks!)
- Try to catch up on DVR recordings. Oh, I am so behind on The Blacklist, Parenthood, Nashville, Scandal, The Mindy Project, etc. I am really looking forward to a day spent on the couch, snuggling with Dutch and watching TV. (My life. It is exciting.)
- Attempt to find a wide-brimmed sun hat for my cruise. I know, I know. It’s a little dorky to have a sun hat but I don’t care. I want one because I think they’re cute and my scalp tends to burn really easily (and I always forget to apply sunscreen there!) and it’ll keep me cool (as in temperature-wise, not fashion-wise. I know that.).
- Wash and vacuum my car. It is so dirty that it’s a little embarrassing. (Okay, a lot embarrassing!)
- Enjoy my cheat meal! I have been looking forward to my cheat meal all week and I can barely handle myself. It’s the little things, sometimes. (Say what you want about cheat meals – I find they work for me!)
What is one thing you did yesterday, did today, and will do tomorrow?

Ooh that cruise excursion sounds awesome and so relaxing! I am just itching to cruise again! It’s my new favorite. I wish we lived closer to a port.
Oh yeah, tomorrow is my cheat as well. Not going to lie, I think about it all week every week. 😉 Jerry and I start planning it early on in the week all the time. Haha!
Hope you love MFP so far! Friend me if you want: stephthebookworm.

My DVR is INSANE. Like, we have 15 Blacklists and I have 7 Parenthoods, plus tons of other stuff to get caught up on. Maybe someday soon! I need a good rainy day to catch up on these things.
yesterday I: did an interval arm workout for 25 minutes. My shoulders are soooreee today. Today: I stood in line for 20 minutes to get doughnuts for my co-workers and even resisted eating one. I consider this a HUGE win. Tomorrow: I will hang out with some friends while we grill and relax in our lovely spring-ish weather 🙂 Have a great weekend, friend!

The non-Carnival excursion that you picked sounds awesome. A day at the pool with access to things like kayaks is my kind of day!
I am on a roll with my workouts as well. It helps that I can do a variety of things as it keeps it from getting boring and helps me stay motivated. I try not to eat my calories too. But I think if you are trying to only eat 1,200 calories a day, that might be on the low side… even if you are trying to lose weight… I know calories in/out is an important equation to balance but 1,200 might be a tad low for calories in… So don’t feel bad if you end up eating your activity calories!
Let’s see – yesterday I went for a run in shorts and a tank top because it is so nice and warm here. Today I was so happy to see the day come to an end, even though I was only in the office 2 days this week due to my travel schedule. Tomorrow I will get on a plane for my weekend trip to Minneapolis. And I got upgraded to first class. I know I sound like a snob for getting excited about that but I love the extra leg room and that fact that people in first class tend to not be talkers!

Sunhat. I had luck at DSW a few years ago. My sister recently got one at American apparel.

Wow, MyFitnessPal gave me 1,420 a day and I thought that was low! Haha. I definitely still need to increase it every day with activity calories and I’ve gone over my calories a couple of times. So as of this morning I’m back to my “plateau” weight, I sat at this weight forever in January/February before putting on a couple of pounds. It’s going to be hard to break through it but I know we can do it! And as for motivation for the next few weeks, that’s why the Facebook group is there! My whole goal of that group was the extra motivation it will provide so hopefully you’re finding that!
Enjoy that cheat meal. I kind of had a cheat meal last night of a fish burrito because I have a long run today!! I say kind of because I still tried to choose somewhat wisely based on the calories I had left for the day and only ended up going 70 over.

Mmm now I want Panera…
You’ve reminded me that I need to get a sun hat, too. Summer is coming– gotta protect my skin!
Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! 😀

I am also trying to stay at 1200 calories but I do eat back all of my exercise calories. I think my BMR is around 1450, so I definitely could not maintain this long term. I think when the DietBet is over I will eat my BMR calories + exercise calories and see how that goes. I am avoiding rest days because I want the extra calories, ha!
Yesterday I tackled one of my 2014 goals and completely cleaned out and organized the kitchen and pantry. I’ve been avoiding it but it feels so good to have it done! Today I am running 7 miles and helping my dad brew beer. Tomorrow is Monday so I am weighing in for the DietBet. I haven’t peeked since my initial weigh in so I’m nervous!

Yesterday: I enjoyed my first outdoor brunch of the season! And we had bottomless mimosas too, which is always a winning idea.
Today: Catching up on all things online and real life. Returning comments, updating my feed reader, cleaning my apartment, grocery shopping… you know, the usual Sunday stuff.
Tomorrow: I think I might be going to my first ever Zumba class, which I am excited about! I’ve never done Zumba but I think I’d like it.
