Yesterday, I…
- Got to tell two of my direct reports about their promotions! It almost felt as good as getting a promotion myself! They both got new titles and a nice little salary adjustment, so they were really happy. I love sharing good news like that!
- Listened to my mom’s episode of our podcast. This month, Bri and I sat down with our mothers to talk about their personalities, what it was like to raise us, and what our relationship is like today, and it was such a delight. My mom’s episode released yesterday and I couldn’t listen to it fast enough.
- Had lunch with my mom. We went to a deli that’s a quick drive from my apartment that’s our favorite weekday lunch spot. It was a nice break in my busy day.
- Booked tickets for New Orleans! My mom and I have been lightly contemplating a trip to New Orleans to see one of our favorite comedians, Nate Bargatze. (We missed him when he was in Florida last year!) I’ve never been to New Orleans and this was our pandemic trip—we planned to go in April 2020 and had to cancel it for obvious reasons. So now we’re going in May! Yay!
Today, I…
- Need to call my doctor’s office! I was supposed to do an in-lab sleep study tonight but on Monday, they called me to tell me that insurance wouldn’t cover the sleep study. However, insurance will cover an at-home sleep study, so I need to follow up with my doctor’s office to get that scheduled/figure out how to get the equipment and such.
- Don’t have too many meetings, thankfully. Yesterday, I had meetings from 11am-4pm! Thankfully, there was an hour-long break in between those meetings so I could eat lunch, but whew. It was a lot for me, and I don’t know how those of you with meeting-packed days every day do it.
- Need to stop by the library to pick up a few books—I’ve been very bad about picking up my library books before they get sent back to their respective branches, so I can’t let that happen again!
- Have dinner scheduled with my dear cousin Rachel. She’s the cousin who lost her father last year, and she just announced that she’s pregnant, so this will be a celebratory dinner! The timing of her pregnancy is so special because she found out in January, mere weeks after her dad passed away. While it’s devastating that he won’t be around for this little one, there’s something about death and new life and all of that.
Tomorrow, I…
- Start my weekend! I scheduled tomorrow and Friday off from work because I just felt like having a long weekend (love having flexible time off!) I don’t have any major plans with this time off, although I would like to complete a project or two around my apartment. Maybe.
- Have an appointment to get my eyebrows tinted. I have blonde eyebrows that are so light, it almost looks as if I don’t have eyebrows unless I fill them in with an eyebrow pencil. It’s an annoying task I do almost daily and I’m hoping that eyebrow tinting (along with a quick wax) will give my eyebrows a bit more definition.
- Have a massage scheduled. My sciatica has been really bad for the past week or so—even just a quick walk around the block causes it to ache. I’m trying to do sessions with my heating pad and sciatica stretches to help alleviate the pain, and I hope a massage will help even more.
- Plan on working on some March goals that need to be completed, like working through one section of the “I’m Dead, Now What?” book and reorganizing my blog tags/categories. Fun times!
What is something you did yesterday, did/are doing today, and want to do tomorrow?
Kyria @ Travel Spot
I’m Dead, Now What? is a great thing to work on! I listened to an episode of All the Hacks yesterday that was about estate planning and wills and whatnot and it was very refreshing to me that I have all of that stuff done! https://www.allthehacks.com/estate-planning-patrick-hicks-mani-mahadevan/ It feels so good to have it behind you and to know that if something happens, your family will be all set and will not have to go through any more heartache than necessary.
Stephany
Yes – I’m looking forward to going through the workbook. I guess at some point I should set up a will, but thankfully I won’t have to worry about estate planning or anything like that!

This is so exciting! My husband and I are going to see Nate Bargatze (he’s in Canada this summer and performing one night about an hour from our house)in August! Friends heard we were going and booked tickets, too…so I think it might be a fun adult evening out. I still need to sort out where the kids will go 😉
Stephany
Yay! I hope you enjoy his show, too. I am really excited to finally see him live – he’s one of my faves and I’m glad to see his success. <3
Sarah
ooooh a fun trip! such a great thing to look forward to 🙂
Stephany
I’m looking forward to it! For so long, I had no travel on the horizon and now I have a fun trip in May AND June to look forward to!
Kim
How lovely that you get to share that as part of your job! Amazing!!!
Yay for New Orleans! Can’t wait to see your take on the city!
OMG, I have a meeting day like that today, from 8:30-3:00 and I don’t get how people do it on the regular either!
Congrats to Rachel <3
Enjoy that long weekend hope the massage helps!
Yesterday I went to a vegan restaurant in Milwaukee with Steven for dinner, today I am working, and tomorrow I want to do a longer run after work! (I have another full day tomorrow, ugh)
Stephany
It was so much fun to let some of my people know they got promoted! Such a fun thing to share!
New Orleans in May, Chicago in June… going to be a very fun late spring/early summer!
NGS
I have been motivated by your blog organization and am considering organizing my own. There are thousands of posts and so many years, though. LOL. I should have been better at this since the beginning.
Yay for a long weekend! I hope you’re able to relax and have some fun!
Stephany
What helped me when I started my blog reorg project is knowing it was not going to be a fast project. I thought it would only take a year (HA) but I’m now on year 3 and seeing the finish line. It also helped to make a goal every month (or for you, you could make a goal every quarter) and then making sure to work on it WEEKLY. Gotta keep that momentum up! If you need an accountability buddy, I’m your girl! But also? You don’t have to reorganize your blog! I find this kind of stuff very fun, but not everyone does.

Yay for scheduling the New Orleans trip and yay for long weekends!
Yesterday I spent a fun night at home with puppy, today I’m caught up on work so I’m going to try to do some “paid” blogging this afternoon, and tomorrow is anyone’s guess!
Stephany
Paid blogging! How fun! 😉
Suzanne
I love Nate Bargatze! What a fun trip to look forward to!
I am very interested in how your sleep study goes. Hoping you give us all the details.
Your description of your eyebrows could be a description of mine! WHY are my eyebrows so light?! I feel like my face is naked unless I am wearing eyebrow mascara or have them dyed.
Stephany
My eyebrows used to be SO DARK and have gradually lightened up over the years. I don’t understand it! I think my esthetician went a shade too light this go round, but I’d rather she be conservative than give me really dark brows that make me look weird, haha. But it’s nice to be able to see my eyebrows without product!

Oh, I love this post format! And, what a lovely moment for you and your direct reports! It is always nice to share good news like that.
Yesterday, I had parent conferences for my daughter and advocated for her with the panel of teachers and was super proud to not get super upset during it. Today, I led a hybrid meeting at work where 15 people said they were coming to the room and then 50 showed up (so glad I didn’t downsize the space, haha sigh). Tomorrow, I am going to pick up my library hold because it will get sent back to its branch on Friday and this post is just what I needed to get me there!
Stephany
Oh wow, what a week it was for you between advocating for your daughter and then leading a meeting with 50 people – eeps! You definitely deserved a treat after such a big week. <3
Nicole MacPherson
I’ve been so busy that I downloaded your latest episode and have not yet listened to it! Today I have houseguests coming, so things are hectic around here.
Stephany
From Vegas to houseguests… that’s a lot of activity! <3

I just got an “I’m Dead, Now What?” book for myself! I haven’t opened it yet, though. Baby steps.
Stephany
Mine is literally still in the plastic wrap, lol. I’m nervous to open it, ahhh!
Ally Bean
A few years ago I reorganized my blog tags and reduced my categories. While I think it was worth it, it was a bother to do it. Still, once organized, it is a nice feeling.
Stephany
It is such a big task – I’ve been working on it for two years, a little bit at a time! But it will be so good to have it done.
Jenny
Ooh I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend and your MASSAGE! I guess it was today? I hope your sciatica feels a little better.
I’ve never been to New Orleans, although we drive past it every year when my son and I go to Waco. It’s ridiculous that I’ve never stopped, and it is a very drive-able distance from Florida. i can’t wait to hear all about it!
Stephany
The massage didn’t help much, wah. So now it’s on to chiropractic care – we’ll see if that helps!
I’ve never been to New Orleans, either!

Yay for having promotions to dole out! That is very exciting and fun! And hooray for some days off. I hope your massage was wonderful and helped with your sciatica pain!!
Yesterday I flew home after a long but productive couple of days in Charlotte. Today I was very happy to wake up in my own bed and hugs the boys. Tomorrow Paul is going to see Kung Fu Panda for a friend’s birthday and I decided to go as well. I haven’t been to a movie in a theater in YEARS. I think my last movie was probably pre-pandemic. It will be Paul’s first movie in a theater. So that should be fun – plus we love the Kung Fu movies!
Stephany
I always wanted to have a movie birthday as a kid – I hope it was fun and that Paul enjoyed the movie! And hooray for having a break from work travel for a bit. <3

I love these posts. How did the eyebrows turn out? Which of the “I’m Dead” books did you buy (there are 2-4 on Amazon, depending on how one classifies them)? I need to get on with a will, advanced directive (AHEM – you DO need this, my friend), and straightening out where to put my long-term savings. Hi, midlife, nice to meet you. Sigh.
Also? I love that YOUR promotion led to you being able to share others’ promotions with them. What a lovely side benefit – in addition to a pay boost. 🙂
Stephany
This is the organizer I got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1441317996?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. There might be better ones – I just chose one that has a nice cover and wasn’t too pricey.

I am not sure if I missed it… why are you having a sleep study done? Do you have trouble when you sleep?
