It’s been four years since my last confessions-style post if you can believe it! I’ve been building a list in my head of these little quirks of mine that I wanted to talk about, so here are some of the latest confessions:
1) I live in a third-floor apartment (with no elevator), so every time I walk upstairs, I have visions of plummeting to my death. It’s quite pleasant.
2) Coloring is one of my favorite activities, and I always have an open coloring book sitting on my dining room table. I color when I’m watching TV mostly, but sometimes I’ll put on a podcast and color when I need a break from work for a bit.
3) I mentioned this when I did my sleep habits post last year, but I feel like it bears repeating: I sleep with six full-size pillows at night. That’s six pillows for one person. I don’t know how people sleep with one flat pillow. There is something so decadent about falling into a huge pile of pillows every night.
4) I cannot figure out the right planner system for me. I’ve tried digital planners and paper planners and bullet journals. None of it works. Maybe I’m just not meant to use a planner? Is there a planner for the person who sucks at using planners?
5) I am such a slow walker that I rarely like going for walking dates with other people. Their leisurely pace is usually my fast pace. I have short legs and a short stride! Let me be!
6) I know the consensus is that you should wake up every morning and chug a glass of water, but ick. I cannot do it! My mouth feels so gross in the morning and, even after brushing my teeth, I can’t do the water thing until later in the morning or the afternoon. Even if I do a morning workout, I’m chugging Gatorade because that tastes way better than water in the morning.
7) I have a really bad habit of holding my pee at night. I just know that getting up and going to the bathroom will disrupt my sleep, so instead, I just pretend I don’t have to go. This is probably a habit holdover from Dutch (my dachshund who died in 2018 at the age of 16) because getting up from the bed meant he was up and would take forever to fall back to sleep. I need to break the habit but it’s so hard!
8) Unpopular opinion alert: give me white chocolate over dark chocolate any day.
9) I’m constantly playing with my hair if it’s down or in a ponytail, which is why I usually have it back in a bun while I’m working so I’m not tempted to play with it. I twirl it and braid it and run my hands through it… every five seconds, it seems.
10) I take a nap on an almost daily basis. This is one of the MAJOR perks of working from home and something I’ve become really used to. Sometimes, I really need that power nap to get through the rest of my day!
11) Speaking of naps, I’m notorious for taking exceptionally long naps. While I stick to a one-hour naptime on workdays, I can easily take a four-hour nap on the weekends. I have to set an alarm or else I will sleep for way longer than I intended. At one point, I was really concerned about how much sleep I was getting (what a problem to have!) so I had my thyroid levels checked. But everything is normal! I just love sleeping!
12) I look forward to my eye doctor appointments. There’s something so fun about getting my eyes examined and getting that perfect prescription. My mom hates her eye appointments because she gets so anxious about “choosing wrong” (between lens 1 or 2) and ending up with a bad prescription, but I don’t get worried about that. I have an eye appointment next month, and I can’t wait!
13) The way most people approach books and reading is the way I approach TV shows and movies. I’m like the TV/movie watcher version of a casual reader. A casual reader will read 1-2 books a month, and I will likely finish one season of a TV show in a month. I never watch movies because I don’t like the experience of being forced to sit down and watch something when there are so many other things to do. I usually watch an episode or two of a TV show while eating dinner, but I’ve never spent an entire day just watching TV. (I have, however, spent an entire day just reading.)
14) I really hate cooking and if I could order Ubereats every night, I would. Cooking is just so time-consuming and takes energy I usually don’t have at the end of the day, and then there are always so many dishes to clean. Blahhhh.
15) My cats have become conditioned to think every time I walk into the kitchen in the afternoon means it’s treat time. They can be dead asleep and if I get up from my desk at any time in the afternoon, they are speeding over to jump on the kitchen table and chirping at me for treats. And because I’m a sucker, I’ll often give them their treats when they ask for them, but then I have to deal with them begging for more treats later in the day. And I just can’t say no to their sweet little faces! So now I’ve just started breaking up their treats. They get their Temptations yummies early in the afternoon and then Greenies later. WHO’S THE SUCKER NOW?!
Do you have any confessions you’d like to get off your chest today?

We differ on so many things! Ha! I do not like white chocolate at all! It’s too over the top sweet for me! I like dark chocolate but it’s can’t be too dark as the bitter taste is a turn off for me. And I sleep with one pillow but also a body pillow. Side sleeping is the best position for me, but I need to be hugging a body pillow to do that. I like stomach sleeping, too, but I know it’s bad for my neck and it’s impossible for when breastfeeding. ha! TMI? And I am a FAST walker and struggle majorly with slow walkers. Ha! So we would need to meet for meals or coffees – which is what we’ve done the 2 times we’ve met!.
My confession is that I can’t stand seeing the red number notifications on my iPhone. I have to get rid of them right away. When I see a person’s phone with tons of notification bubbles, it makes me cringe!

This was fun to read! Six pillows. I’m stuck on six pillows. Maybe show us a photo of the six pillows because I just can’t picture it. Where do you…fit? Are you upright? Questions, I have them.
I also rarely sit and watch a movie and I am the worst binge watcher. I have been watching The Crown for YEARS and I’m still not done season 4. I watch maybe 1-2 episodes a month. Good thing it’s history and I kind of know what happened anyway, or I’d be lost in the plot.
The eye doctor thing made me smile. Lens 1 or 2, the pressure!

I love these kinds of posts – so many random new facts about you! 🙂
I am, like Nicole, wondering how in the world you sleep with SIX pillows…. because you must practically be sitting up, I imagine.
I know I suggested the “chug a glass of water in the morning” method to you to up your hydration game and I understand where you’re coming from. I had a hard time at the beginning too, but it’s something you get used to and know I almost crave that first glass in the morning, because I feel so parched LOL
I wish I could say something smart to make you fall in love with cooking. It’s the one thing I haven’t gotten tired of during the pandemic, I just like to be control of what I eat. I do understand that cooking for one might be different than cooking for two…. so, I give you that 😉
My confession: I’ve never been to the eye doctor. Ha.

I’m stuck on the 6 pillows, too. I use one pathetic flat pillow and sometimes that ends up not underneath my head. And if I fall asleep on the couch (rare, but it does happen periodically) then I usually just have my head on the arm. No pillow.
Also, dark chocolate ftw. As dark as possible 70%+. 🙂
I have to have water-with-something first, too. For me, it’s usually a post-workout electrolyte drink. I also drink my tea first. And, remember that pretty much all liquids – even those that are caffeinated – help hydrate you. The whole caffeine-is-dehydrating thing is pretty much gone.
Finally…. not sure what to tell you about cooking. I know it’s hard for one person. I batch cook veggies on the weekend (my air fryer is a godsend, seriously) and then on weeknights it’s just a) decide on a protein, b) decide on veggies (+ always a salad), c) decide on a carb, and d) always drink water. So I don’t cook regularly – but I do try to make it as low-stress as possible because I just can’t think too much by the end of the day. LOL.

I, too, CANNOTTTT figure out the right system of organization. Like, why is something that comes so easily to other people SO damn difficult for me?!
