August 1, 2026 – She looks little and sweet, but this girl lost her damn mind when she saw a dead bug on the patio and was very angry we wouldn’t let her outside to eat it. Her bark was so loud, my watch gave me a sound warning.
August 2, 2026 – I didn’t do a whole lot on Sunday, so at the end of the day, as I was preparing for bed, I realized I hadn’t taken a single picture. I told Eloise to pose for me. This is the best she could do.
August 3, 2026 – Ultrasound time to measure my fibroids. My biggest fibroid (4 cm) hasn’t grown much, while my other fibroid has grown large enough to protrude into my uterine cavity. This means I’ll likely still be eligible for an endometrial ablation, and I’ll go for a consult in early September.
August 4, 2026 – EXCUSE ME MS LILA. You are not allowed to be this cute!
August 5, 2026 – I went on a Thriftbooks shopping spree over the weekend, and the books were delivered today! This stack only cost $30!
August 6, 2026 – I bought a new cart for my office. It came disassembled, so I put the metal bins on the floor of my office, and I was certain one of the cats would jump in them. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, I hear snoring behind me and turn to find Lila enjoying a snooze!
August 7, 2026 – Bri adopted a new dog! Asher is a five-year-old greyhound who is so stinkin’ cute and looks like he could have been a sibling to Titan, her dog who recently passed away. Here he is sitting on the couch like a human. (And if you look closely, you can see Bri’s other dog Tessie in the background!)
What was the last photo you took?

Lila just broke the internet! Congrats to Bri on her new baby!
The last photo that I took was of Doggo this morning. We were snuggling on the couch when a cat came on the patio and stood at the screen door. Doggo went into “pointer” pose for long enough for me to take the picture before she ran to the screen door and let the cat know what she thought about it. If I had a noise warning on my watch it would have been activated, that’s for sure.
A cat! On the patio! Oh, Chip and Lucy would have been VERY UNHAPPY about that, too.
OH MY GOD THE BLIND ASSASSIN!!!!! My favourite book ever! I just had a deep happy sigh just thinking about it. I was in a used book store yesterday and got two new books by authors I really like, Camilla Gibb and Emma Donoghue.
I hope the ablation really helps. I have known several woman who have had them and they really have helped a lot. Fingers crossed!
I bought it solely on your rec, so I hope I love it as much as you do! Lisa also really loved it and our tastes usually align, so I have high hopes. 🙂
Love all the pet pictures 🙂 I live vicariously through you and all pet owners!
This photo project is really just an excuse for me to show cute photos of all the pets in my life!
I absolutely love how that dog is sitting on the couch like a human. Hilarious. The cat hopping in the new shelf /bin is so cute. Hmm, ‘this doubles as a nap spot.’
The last photo I took was of a card I found when I cleaned out my night stand today. It’s a Christmas card Tank wrote to Coach when he was in 2nd grade. I took a photo of it and shared it in the group chat. He wrote something like: THANKS FOR CUTTING DOWN THE CHRISTMAS TREE, DADDY. YOU ARE MY BEST BUD.
OMGGGGGG. I am dying. That is the cutest thing ever!
Wow! That’s some serious barking to set off your noise alert! I love all the pet photos. They’re all just so adorable! The last photo I took was of the smoky skyline, with nothing visible except for a red sun barely showing through. There are so many forest fires around here.
Ugh, I’m so sorry about all the forest fires around you. It must smell terrible, too!
I really loved The Blind Assassin too! I’m excited to hear what you think about it.
So many cute furry friends!
At one point my OB/GYN thought I had a fibroid. But really, I just had two uterueses…. Uteri?
The last photo I took was a slip of paper with a book rec on it. We were visiting a library while on our road trip and in the teens section they have a gum ball machine. Only instead of gumballs, it spits out little capsules with book recs.
Two uteruses? I need to know more (if you feel like sharing!). What does that mean? How does it affect your cycle?
A gumball machine that spits out book recs is amazing!
My last photo(s) were a whole bunch at bridge jumping. I took my son and three of his friends and I thought we might be there… 30 minutes? THREE HOURS LATER I had to insist it was time. to. go. So much fun.
I have a post all about my endometrial ablation experience going live tomorrow! I really hope if you go through with the procedure you get the same results I did. It has changed my life for the better.
It was very great to read about your experience with endometrial ablation, especially how things have gone since the procedure. I’m very hopeful I’ll have a similar experience!
Omg Asher looks like a middle aged dad with that couch pose! I am glad she was able to adopt a new friend for Tessie. He looks like quite the character!!
I love how different-sized your girls are! Our cat is on the plumper size for sure. We used to limit her to 1/4 c of food twice/day but my MIL just fills her bowl. And is generous with treats. But she cares for her now so gets to call the shots. And I think Oscar is just meant to be a bigger gal!
Asher is freaking adorable and I’m in love with him.
It’s so wild how differently sized Eloise and Lila are! They eat the same amount! Actually, Lila eats a bit less these days because I need her to lose a few pounds. But they just hold their weight so differently!
