Currently…

Loving… my new Wordle for the Book Girlies chat, where we share our Wordle and Connections results, and basically have tons of side convos about all different things. It’s really nice!

Loathing… everything happening in politics. Aside from the good things like all the Dems who got elected! But everything else.

Reading… It’s a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan. It’s… fine. I’m not very invested in the romance between the two main characters, which is a problem when I’m supposed to be rooting for them to be together.

Watching… Friends, season 3. There is no sitcom that makes me laugh out loud as much as this one.

Listening to… Generations: The Real Differences Between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, and Silents―and What They Mean for America’s Future by Jean M. Twenge. This has been a fascinating audiobook! I just finished that chapter on Gen X, which is my mom’s generation, and learned a lot about the era she grew up.

Anticipating… putting up my Christmas tree soon. I was going to put it up yesterday, but I decided to take a nap instead. Heh.

Thinking about… how to structure this year’s “Week in the Life” posts. I don’t think I want to do “One Photo Per Hour,” which is how I structure my Day in the Life posts now. I want something that’s a little more casual and doesn’t require 12+ photos.

Buying… Advent calendars! I have two Advent calendars for myself: a murder mystery Advent calendar where I’ll have to solve 24 different puzzles to figure out the “whodunit” and a chocolate Advent calendar. And then I bought the girls a treat Advent calendar (they each got their own!). I’m ready for December 1st!

Grateful for… NaBloPoMo. What a wonderful blogging challenge! I’m so glad I decided to do it again this year, and love all the new people who have stopped by my blog. I’ve added so many new blogs to Feedly!

Celebrating… my dear friend Mikaela, who is going to start looking for agents for her book! I’m so proud of her! I’m also proud of this essay, which had me crying in my chiropractor’s parking lot as I read it before an appointment.

What is something you’re anticipating right now?

That’s so exciting about your friend’s book! I’m anticipating getting some more Christmas decorations up (we’re doing the slow and steady approach this year, haha) and hopefully finishing my book later!

The Jean Twenge audiobook sounds really interesting! I’ve seen her referenced a lot in her research about kids growing up since smartphones, but it sounds really interesting to hear about all the generational differences. We just got our Christmas tree up, which is earlier than usual, but it’s very cozy. We don’t do advent calendars, but the murder mystery one sounds super tempting).

I’ll admit… the more I have listened to this book (Generations), the less I like Jean Twenge. She seems to have a real disdain for millenials and Gen Z-ers. Meh.

I have that book on my “next to read” pile. OMG my pile is huge. Everything came in at once and now I see that there are three more books waiting for me at the library and another one on the way! It doesn’t help that I’m just finishing up Americanah, which is almost 600 pages long. NO ONE TALK TO ME I AM READING.

Advent calendars! I’ve been debating getting one this year. Last year I really liked my Reading advent calendar, but can’t find another one that looks as good. And, I usually get the Trader Joe’s cat advent calendar, but one year- was it last year?- I didn’t get there in time and they were sold out, so I had to get a different one. I guess now is the time to start thinking about it.
I’m envious that you’re getting your tree up- we’re waiting till Thanksgiving week, when my son is home. Eloise is looking very festive!

I love the advent calendars where I get a fun prize every day – the reading one was a lot of fun! But yeah, I didn’t see another similar one that I liked. Or wasn’t a bajillion dollars.

Good luck to your friend, M! I will check out her essay.

We have a little advent calendar with drawers. Last year there was so much bickering about whose turn it was to open the drawer. If it doesn’t go well this year we will put it away for the season. Gah the bickering is ridiculous!

I’ve been watching Friends Re-Runs, too. They make me laugh out loud! I am glad you feel the same 🙂

I love that you love NaBloPoMo again this year! Me, too!

I like so many of these things. Your chat sounds delightful. I think I would have better luck keeping my streaks alive if I had more accountability. But sometimes I get stuck in the morning and I have to move on with my day and I forget to return to Wordle or Connections.

I am anticipating decorating for the holidays too. And this just reminded me I do have one Thanksgiving-themed decoration that I’m going to pull out now. Usually I forget and find it in early December- not this year!

Your mom is Gen X, and so am I! No wonder I feel like your auntie! I’m so excited that I ordered an Advent calendar this year, and the tracking says it’ll be here tomorrow!!!

i am having an advent conundrum this year because I found awesome ones for both girls, but they are over $200. Each. So that would be a gift. But Minnie still believes in Santa, so it’s all weird. When she is a little older, I am going to pull the trigger. In the meantime– chocolate.

    Oh my heart, that essay…
Advent calendars… I want a couple for the kids but then we end up with SO. MANY. Matchbox cars. Or charms. Then I step on the and unravel.
I think I’ll stick with those that are chocolates!

Well, I feel old now. Sigh. (I suspect your mom is early-Gen X, maybe, and I am late-Gen X? The years it includes have a HUGE range, which is annoying, tbh. I have nothing in common with people born in 1965, and yet…)
