Day in the Life: Tuesday, March 24, 2026

4:45 a.m.: I wake up, rip off my CPAP mask, and throw it on the floor. Then, I snuggle under the covers and go back to sleep.

5:20 a.m.: My alarm wakes me up. Wah! I get up, get dressed, brush my teeth, and then sit on the couch playing Happy Color for a bit.

5:40 a.m.: Off to the gym! I finish up a podcast episode on my way.

6:00 a.m.: I get to the gym and do a 30-minute workout on the stationary bike. Hopefully soon I can move on to other workout options!

6:40 a.m.: I drive home, listening to an audiobook.

7:00 a.m.: Home. I feed the cats and then loaf on the couch for 30 minutes, playing my NYT games and scrolling Reddit.

7:30 a.m.: I force myself to get up and make breakfast. Two fried eggs on sourdough with iced coffee. Yum, yum! I read and comment on blogs while I eat.

8:20 a.m.: I do my morning routine – empty the dishwasher, take my meds, do my skincare routine, update my planner, deal with my CPAP machine, make my bed, all the things!

8:45 a.m.: Time to start working! I do my daily admin tasks, send a really fun announcement to my team (one of my writers got promoted!), and then work through my emails. Inbox zero at 9:45am?! I’ll take it!

9:55 a.m.: I take a break to call my mom and end up helping her with an issue she’s trying to handle. Three cheers for a working printer that can scan documents!

10:15 a.m.: Back to work. I need to start working on content assignments for April, but run into an issue right as I do. I send a Slack to a fellow manager to get her advice. I continue working on assignments for other writers while I await her reply.

11:30 a.m.: I get an alert that my outdoor couch has arrived! YAY! However, when I open my apartment door, there is no package. Weird. I check the proof of delivery in my email and discover that FedEx DELIVERED IT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS! What in the world? I have never had this happen, and I am quite annoyed at FedEx for not even attempting to contact me about delivering my package. Anyone could have taken it! Argh.

But I am woman! I am strong! I can do this! I make a very feeble attempt at moving the package, but it is 110 lbs and I am not that strong. Thankfully, it’s my brother’s day off and he is truly the best  and he comes over right away to bring it up the stairs for me.

HERO.

12:00 p.m.: I call my mom to give her the lowdown.

12:20 p.m.: What a derailment of my day! Somehow, I get back to work. I continue working on assignments, taking a short break to help one of my writers with a request.

1:00 p.m.: All of this excitement caused me to forget about lunch! I make something quick and easy, and eat it while working on this post.

1:30 p.m.: Worky-worky time. More assignments, some editing, yadda yadda yadda. I take breaks to do some of my afternoon tidying tasks: scooping the litter boxes, cleaning up from lunch, and cleaning up the girls’ food area (wet food bowls taken away, sweeping, refreshing water, etc).

3:00 p.m.: It’s time for therapy! It’s been over a year since I was last in therapy, but there’s a lot of change happening in my life right now and it’s leading to some anxiety. We have a great appointment and I really like the therapist! She was very easy to talk to, and I came away with a lot of food for thought.

4:00 p.m.: I always need a little decompression time after therapy, so I set my alarm for 30 minutes and let myself drift off to sleep.

4:30 p.m.: Naptime is over! I’m always amazed at how rejuvenating a 30-minute nap is. When I wake up, I find that both girls have joined me on the bed. FAMILY NAP TIME!

4:45 p.m.: Okay, enough fooling around. I need to log a few more hours of work before I can officially sign off. I clear out my email inbox, finish up an editing assignment, and then spend the rest of time working on posting tasks. This is an activity that doesn’t take much brainpower so I love doing it at the end of the day. I throw on a podcast and get to work!

6:30 p.m.: I am done for the day, woohoo! I shut down my computer and get dinner started. I don’t always start dinner as soon as I’m done working, but I’m usually not finishing up work so late! I make my favorite easy meal: healthy baked chicken nuggets with rice and green beans. I give Eloise a little mommy time (aka, sitting on the floor of my bedroom and letting her do somersaults all over my legs) and then clean up the kitchen a bit while my food cooks.

7:05 p.m.: Dinner time! I watch two episodes of Friends while I eat and also make progress on my current coloring page.

8:00 p.m.: I take a bath and read 25ish pages of my book. This book has been excellent!

8:30 p.m.: I sit down on the couch and Facetime my mom. She doesn’t answer, but it’s fine. She will call me right back! Fifteen minutes later, she has not called me right back, so I call her again, no answer. Cool, cool, cool.

8:45 p.m.: I sit down at my dining room table to work on this post, insert pictures, and comment on a few blogs.

9:35 p.m.: My mom still hasn’t called me back, so I give her yet another call and this time she answers! She’s alive! We chat for a while about all sorts of inane things.

10:00 p.m.: I do my nighttime routine (skincare, tidying up kitchen, starting dishwasher, setting up CPAP machine, filling out planner, etc.) and then sit down in my reading chair to read 50 pages of Homeseeking.

11:00 p.m.: How is it already so late? Eeps! I quickly turn off all the lights, do one last pee, and get into bed. CPAP mask on, ASMR video lulling me to sleep in the background.

What time did you wake up yesterday?

Because I’m not running this week, none of my wakeup times have started with a “5”. 5:00 wakeups should be banned! 6 is much more civilized (7 even more so, heh heh…)
I’m so envious of you working from home. I would love that, but I’m also afraid I would never, ever leave my house and turn into a bizarre hermit. So maybe it’s good I’m forced to work in person. Your day does sound really nice though!
ELOISE. Stop plotting to kill me!!!

I definitely have to force myself to DO THINGS and not be a hermit. I try to keep my weekends a bit busier than my weekdays, and that helps a lot.

I was doing the 7am alarm for a long time, and it was DECADENT.

I always enjoy seeing a day in your life! My sleep schedule is beyond ridiculous these days. Last night I slept from 9:00 to 12:30 (with CPAP), then from 2:30 to 5:00. (without CPAP) Boooo! I just started doing the NYT games, and I love them! Now I see why people enjoy them! My favorite one is Spelling Bee. In Wordle, it took me 4 tries to get Brood. I did AUDIO, DONOR, TROOP, BROOD.

Oh noooo… two hours of being up in the middle of the night? That’s awful! Are you able to nap at least? I’d definitely be taking a nap every day!

Thanks for sharing your Wordle tries! It’s always a risk to do a double letter on the third try!

I love DITL!!! Yay for wordle in 3! I got that one in 4 so you beat me.

I wake up when Hubs gets up, which varies by whether he’s WFH or WFO. Yesterday was a WFH day so I slept until 7. WFO days are 6:30.

Yassss girl, I see you doing that work at the gym! Good job!

OMG brother to the rescue! I am so glad you were home to see that there. I mean, it would have been difficult to move and steal but someone could do it lol. When do you plan to build it?

Glad you are liking the new therapist!

I didn’t want to take the chance! I would hope my neighbors wouldn’t steal it, but wouldn’t be too difficult for someone in a first-floor apartment to drag into their place!

I built it already! It was pretty easy to put together.

Yesterday? Probably when the alarm went off at 6:30. Today my bladder woke me at 6:25, which was very sad.

I loved that book! Very fun.

Good job making it to the gym. I value my sleep way too much to factor in Wordle (it could just be that I’m not into those word games- perhaps because I’m terrible at them?) or anything ‘extra’ like reading in the morning aside from working out. I woke up around 6:30 or 6:45 am yesterday. I set my alarm for 7:15 am which is the last possible minute I can wake up before I need to be downstairs for tot drop off. On Monday, I slept till my alarm woke up and that was jarring.

Hooray for the hero brother. Goodness, what would one do if not for a brother to haul that thing up the stairs.

I was trying to go through all the scenarios of what I would do if I didn’t have my brother around! Maybe I could have called the front office to get some maintenance people to help?! IDK!

I just started doing Connections, which led to Wordle. I’m like 6 years late on the trend BUT HERE I AM.

I woke up at 5:30, as per usual on a workday. *sigh* When we turn off the alarm on the weekends, I normally get up between 7-8 and so I know it’s not enough sleep, but I don’t see any other options!

I am glad your brother could carry that box up the stairs for you. That is A HEAVY BOX! I can’t wait to see your outdoor couch!

Yesterday I was in Detroit and had worked out the night before so I got up at 6:30 since I didn’t have to be ready to leave until 8am. But 6:30 felt like 5:30 for me since Detroit is on EST and Mpls is on CST. I’m ping ponging between CST and EST so much – I’ll be back on EST tomorrow. My body is so confused.

Ugh, the ping-ponging between time zones must be really difficult! At least it’s just an hour difference and not 2 or 3 hours for the other time zones!

My alarm went off at 6:15 a this morning, but since I worked late last night I snoozed it a few times and got out of bed around 6:45am.
I’m always so impressed when people leave the house to work out in the morning. I can’t make myself leave the house until I take the kids to school- until then, it’s solidly home time for me.
What a great brother you have!!

It helps that if I don’t go to the gym, I’ll just be a hermit at home. It gets me out of the house and face-to-face with other people!

      My brother is the BEST.

I would have lost it if my couch were delivered at the base of the stairs. That said, someone who lives in my building had modular furniture delivered… last year? The boxes sat by the elevator until they could find someone to help. I’d be up a creek – no brother living nearby to help out. I’m so glad he was around and willing and able to help! I hope you’re now enjoying the couch in its rightful home. 😉
