Monthly Goals | July 2025

June was a weird month because I had a lot of health issues and doctor’s appointments. July isn’t going to be any better with more doctor’s appointments and follow-up testing and my first colonoscopy. So I’m making July the month of kindness. I am going to be radically kind to myself and give myself the grace I need to get through these medical appointments, which will hopefully give me answers to all of my health concerns. I’ve pared down my July goals to just five things I want to try to accomplish, and most of those are small, easy goals.

But first! Let’s take a look back on my June goals.

June Goals

Intentional Action

  • Buy new throw pillows – Complete! I was at Home Goods this weekend and found exactly what I was looking for. Woohoo!
  • Change 5 email addresses – Mostly complete! I changed the email addresses for my electric company, gym, car loan, and phone. I wanted to change the email address I use at my bank, but I wasn’t able to do it online and didn’t feel like making a phone call.
  • Finish Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi – Complete!
  • Watch Working Girl – Not complete. Maybe this will be my “recovering from a colonoscopy” movie, hmm.

Healthy Routines

  • Eat fruit with breakfast and a veggie snack, Monday – Friday – I did not track this in June, but I would say my completion percentage was under 10%.
  • Five workouts at the gym per week – I am regularly doing four workouts per week: three HIIT classes and one spin class. I feel like that’s enough for me. If I can keep up this momentum, I’ll be a happy camper!
  • Eat a salad twice per week – LOL, no. I started getting tired of my salads in June, so I stopped eating them.

Nagging Tasks

  • Schedule a follow-up visit with my gynecologist – Complete! I do indeed have fibroids, which is why my periods suck. Blergh.
  • Send the rest of my postcards – Not complete. I was very lazy in June.
  • Do a Goodwill drop – Complete! It felt so good to get rid of so many things!

July Goals

1) Get through all of my medical appointments. It will be another busy month of medical appointments. Let’s review: abdominal ultrasound, routine dental cleaning, colonoscopy, nerve conduction study (for carpal tunnel), and a follow-up with my orthopedic regarding next steps with my carpal tunnel pain. The colonoscopy is going to be the big appointment to get through and I will be happy to have that behind (heh) me.

2) Start taking birth control. I have decided to start taking hormonal birth control to see if it helps regulate my periods. I have never had an issue with birth control (actually, I’ve been one of the lucky ones in that I usually don’t get a period when I’m on BC), so I hope it does the trick.

3) Watch Working Girl. Rollover goal.

4) Change my email address with my bank + all of my subscriptions. I will have to call my bank to get my email address changed, but it should be easy enough to change the email address attached to all of my subscription services.

5) Send the rest of my postcards. Rollover goal.

Do you have any goals for July?

Woohoo for putting all of the medical appointments behind you!! FYI a friend just did her colonoscopy and she said that next time for the pregame, a Depends would have come in handy. Just saying.

Your having to change email addresses reminds me of my credit card situation. I had fraudulent charges on one that I use a lot and I have to go and change all of my autopays and accounts. You won’t be surprised to know that I have a spreadsheet for that though!! It came in very handy!

A spreadsheet! That is so smart. I should have known you would have a system like that!

Good luck with all your appointments! It will feel so great when you have them all done, particularly the colonoscopy. And fingers crossed the birth control works for you! I was on the pill for many years and it really was great for me.
Do I have goals for July? Kind of, I guess, I have some editing/ revision goals, and I also want to really soak up summer.

I will be so glad to have the colonoscopy over with! I am very nervous about the prep but I will get through it! Hopefully. 😉

I usually set myself a 30-day goal for each month, but my June goal was “survive.” I did! Let’s call that a win. I’m hoping to do a bit of thriving in July, but survive might be July’s mantra, too.

Good luck with all those appointments. You’re going to feel like such a rock star when they’re all done!

Survive is a good-enough mantra with all you are dealing with! You’ve got this!

You are killing it on the health front, Stephany! That is no easy feat — it takes so much time and energy to make and prepare for and attend and follow up all these appointments.

I hope the BCP goes well for you!

It really is so exhausting to keep up with all of these appointments and tests and results. Gah. I see a light at the end of the tunnel, though! July will be a LITTLE less crazy, hopefully.

Yes, it will feel great to get the colonoscopy over with! And I think you should plan to watch Working Girl as a reward, I have an appointment for a pap test today which (strangely) I’m not looking forward to. But I can’t wait to get it over with.
I just did a mid-year goal check- in (which was eye-opening) but didn’t set any specific goals for July. I should, right? Maybe I’ll do that today. I like that July is a “month of kindness” for you.

I hate pap tests, so I don’t blame you for not looking forward to it! It’s always good to get it over and done with, though.

I need to do a mid-year goal check-in soon. Eeps!

I’m glad you’re getting to the bottom of health issues. Being on the pill should really help with the fibroids and your period. I have only had one colonoscopy and the prep sucked but otherwise it was fine. The only real recuperation needed is you will likely be hungry after. They say to eat a bland, mild meal, but I don’t have tummy issues and went for bacon and eggs with no repercussions.

I just looked at my calendar and see that I have a dentist appt. And I need to get some birthday cards sent out. Going to a museum tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to that.

I liked Working Girl, I hope you enjoy it! Melonie Griffith, Sigorney Weaver, and Harrison Ford. Awesome.

I don’t know if I will have the willpower to have a bland meal after a full day of a clear liquid diet! HA. I’m already dreaming of a great meal afterward.

      Yay for museums and birthdays!

Well all your talk of medical appts in the last couple of months, you inspired me to book my IUD insertion’ appt (had that on Tuesday – not pleasant but hoping it solves my issue) and my colonscopy (later this month). Yee haw. It’s so fun to be an adult, isn’t it?

I am glad you are setting a short list of goals for the month. You’ve got enough going on as is!! I hope you get some answers, though!!

I don’t really have goals for July. It’s going to be a bit nutty as I travel 3 weeks in a row. Our calendar looks rough… Phil is going to have a really hard month. BUT I get to see Kelly and Amber when I am in Boston for work next week! I parlayed that work trip into a girls trip. I’ll get about 2 days with them + dinners 2 other nights. But besides that, my goal is to give Phil as much of a break as possible on the weekends to make up for all the time I’ll be away…

Oh that is a rough travel schedule for you, but how great that you could make one of those trips into a girls’ weekend! Say hi to Kelly and Amber for me!

Oh man the medical stuff sucks. All the time spent running from one to the next and not to speak of the nervousness of results. Hope you get some clearance from it.

Love that you will give yourself some grace this months.

Thank you! It has not been a fun time, but so far, no scary results so at least there’s that!
