Monthly Goals | June 2025

It’s June, which means it’s time to evaluate my monthly goals. In May, I set three categories of goals: Intentional Action (goals related to my yearly goals), Healthy Routines, and Nagging Tasks. I didn’t do terribly well, but I made some progress at least. Let’s review May goals and set some new ones for June, shall we?

May Goals

Intentional Action

  • Itemize everything in my bedroom – No progress. I think this may be a yearly goal I don’t accomplish. This is such a crazy task to take on, and I don’t know if I really need to do it. (I always video my home if I ever need to evacuate for a hurricane, so at least I have that.)
  • Change 5 email addresses – No progress made. LOL. This is not a hard task… and yet!
  • Read Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi – Half-complete. I am working my way through this book very slowly. I’m about halfway done!
  • Watch Dirty Dancing – Complete! I watched it with my mom and adored it.

Healthy Routines

  • Eat fruit with breakfast and a veggie snack, Monday – Friday – (18%) Oh, this is not good at all.
  • Five workouts at the gym per week – (70%) Getting that fifth workout in has been hard! And in May, I often slacked on getting that fourth workout.
  • Eat a salad twice per week – (63%) I am happy with this (sometimes I ate more than two salads)! I try to make a big salad for lunch twice a week, and things are going pretty well with that.

Nagging Tasks

  • Reorganize the kitchen cabinet with my pots/pans/lids – Complete! Decluttering this cabinet was much needed and now everything has its own space and I don’t feel like I’m fighting for my life every time I need to pull out a specific pot or pan.
  • Reorganize my linen closet – Complete! I was able to get rid of a lot of things that have been taking up space in there, and now everything is so nice and tidy. I love it!
  • Do a Goodwill drop – Not complete. I was lazy.

June Goals

Intentional Action

  • Buy new throw pillows – I bought two new throw pillows at Home Goods a few weekends ago, and I need to go back and get two more. Hopefully, Home Goods has them! If not, I kept the tag so I know the supplier and hopefully can find the pillows online.
  • Change 5 email addresses – I suck at doing this, but I still want to move over to a more professional-sounding email address so I need to get over myself.
  • Finish Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi – I have about 200 pages to go so I will definitely finish this book in June. My pace is so slow because the writing is so dense and there is so much information on every page!
  • Watch Working Girl – One of my yearly goals is to watch a movie released during the first four years of my life. I got my 1987 movie done (Dirty Dancing), and now I’ve moved on to 1988. Working Girl seems to be the winner for me, so I’m going to try to watch it in June.

Healthy Routines

  • Eat fruit with breakfast and a veggie snack, Monday – Friday – The goal for June is to get my average to 50% or better. Baby steps!
  • Five workouts at the gym per week – I’m hoping to do HIIT Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; spin class on Tuesdays; and a strength day on the weekend.
  • Eat a salad twice per week – I’m doing much better at this goal than I imagined! I could bump this up to three times a week, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Nagging Tasks

  • Schedule a follow-up visit with my gynecologist – When I talked about my intense periods on Friday’s blog post, many of you recommended speaking to my doctor to check for fibroids or polyps, which could be the culprit behind my pain. What’s crazy is that I had my well woman’s visit last month and didn’t even bring it up as an issue because I thought it was just normal. I’m going to see if I can get an ultrasound to make sure nothing funky is going on!
  • Send the rest of my postcards – I bought a set of cute cat-themed postcards and sent out a few to blog friends, but the rest of the stack is just sitting there! I think if I make this a goal, I’ll be more apt to complete it.
  • Do a Goodwill drop – Rollover goal.

Do you have any goals for this month?

Probably pretty selfish to request that “send cat photos to Suzanne” be added to your list, huh???? 😉

I giggled at the “fighting for your life” comment. This is me when it comes to our food storage container cabinet. It is jam packed and I am very lackadaisical about throwing lids in there, so you never know what kind of avalanche you’ll face when you open the door! I did tackle a closet and reorganize some of the shelves. It is much more manageable now!

I will send you all of the cat photos you want! But I do request cat photos from YOU. 🙂

It’s so nice to finally get in there and reorganize a cabinet or closet that’s become a mess. I am so happy with my newly organized kitchen cabinet and linen closet! It’s amazing how long it took me to finally DO IT.

I like that you include a movie in your goals! I know I saw Working Girl waaaay back when, but I barely remember it. I should see if I can find it somewhere. I accomplished some kitchen and closet organizing goals in May. My June goals mainly involve yard work and organizing the garage.

Hooray for accomplishing organizing goals! Doesn’t it feel so good to have those areas all nice and neat again? I love it!

Good luck on your June goals!

I am SO glad you are going to see the gyno, because you just never know. Best to get it checked off the list. If you did have a fibroid, it is so much easier to deal with in early stages!
I LOVE THAT YOU LOVED DIRTY DANCING. I need to watch it again asap. For me, asap might mean in the next year. Oooh I just remembered Birchy is coming for a visit, maybe she’ll watch with me! (want to join?) (I have space in my house!)
Stephany, remember when you said to just try to get a few photos at a time done? I STARTED TO DO IT! Just this week I started! And I have a little hourglass that counts off 30 minutes, so I put it on and race myself to see what I can do. My goal is to FINISH by the end of August. It’s a doable goal!

Wait – when is Birchie coming?! LET ME KNOW.

And hooray! I am so glad my advice helped. You can do it!

I actually had my Gyno tell me that my spotting between periods could also be polyps, however, that is normally something they do look for during the exam, and can remove fairly easily right then and there. I know nothing about fibroids however. Hopefully you get it sorted out! Luckily as I age, my period is pretty short (like one heavy, two light days) but since I got off birth control, my cramps have come back with a vengeance! I can’t wait for it to just be over with!

Now that I’m in the habit of eating a big salad every day, it seems so easy! Especially if you have any leftovers you can throw in there- I like a mix of raw veggies, cooked veggies, and protein (I’ve been liking tempeh and chickpeas- something tells me you will not be adding tempeh to your salads though.) Honestly, it’s easier for me than actually cooking a dinner.
You’re reminding me that I have postcards to send too!

Do you like apples and almond or peanut butter? I have been melting a tablespoon of one of them and dipping apple slices in it every morning for breakfast. I also put chia and flaxseed in there, but you definitely do not have to. I also LOVE carrots and babybel cheese or cucumbers and hummus as a snack. I also compulsively snack on cuties, especially if I am hungry for something sweet. I have less of a problem getting fruit in than WANTING to reach for a veggie. I have been tracking macros lately, so that helps me think of food as fuel more and I like hitting my nutrition goals for the day and thinking which foods will get me there the most efficiently. (Which is how I came to be snacking on a bag of broccoli yesterday LOL)

I had really heavy bleeding and break through bleeding a few years ago and it ended up being polyps but I needed them surgically removed so it was quite the ordeal – but it did the trick! I hope you figure out what is going on and can look into some solutions. I really think a Mirena IUD might be a good option. That’s what I am getting when I find the motivation to book the dang appt! Lol.

Do you like hummus? If so, that might make it easier/more appealing to eat veggies. I’ve started to bring carrots as my afternoon snack with hummus and it makes it way more appealing to eat them with a good dip! My trick for eating fruit is to prep it on the weekend so it’s easy to grab during the week. So if I get grapes, I take them off the vine so it’s easy to portion out a cup to bring to work. Honestly the amount of stuff I bring to work is ridiculous, and it’s so heavy since all of our containers are glass. Today I brought a single serving yogurt, 1 c. carrots, 1 c. grapes, 3oz of blueberries for my yogurt and 1oz of hummus for my carrots. But it prevents me from getting hungry and making not so great decisions…
