My first peppermint mocha of the season!
Bri and I went to a Buddhist temple on Sunday morning. It was so beautiful! There wasn’t any sort of service; they allow people to come in and view it throughout the week. They were also doing a Thai market, and I was shocked at the number of people sitting outside, eating Thai food, at 9:30 in the morning!
Here is Eloise, laying on the back of my desk, where she gets to enjoy a very wonderful nap in the sun every morning. I think she would love a window perch here, but I will have to figure out how to configure my desk to make it happen.
Here is Lila, snuggled up in her unicorn bed, in my office! I gasped when I turned around from my desk to see her in the bed because it was the first time she napped in my office. So cute!
Brr! We had quite the cold front this week. The “feels like” temperature was in the low 20s! WHAT. This is not the agreement, Florida!
Eloise never used this hammock in our old apartment, but now I see her using it all the time! I wonder if she likes being able to look outside from a great vantage point?
Planning my gallery wall! I think I like this layout. The best thing to remember when doing a gallery wall is: it doesn’t have to be perfect. Mess is part of the magic! Plus, I can always add more prints and canvases to the gallery wall. If one part seems a little bare or lackluster, there’s an easy solution!
Baby’s first EKG! I’ve been having this weird pain whenever I work out – it’s on the side of my left breast and then radiates to the front of my underarm. It’s not severe and goes away when I stop exercising, but it was concerning to me. So I scheduled an appointment with my primary to get it checked out. She ordered an EKG for me to make sure everything looked fine, but was basically flummoxed by what could be happening. (Which is fun!) Since the pain originates in my breast and not my chest, it’s not as concerning as I thought. She was willing to order a stress test or breast ultrasound to make sure nothing was wrong, but right now, I’m just going to take a wait-and-see approach. My blood pressure was normal and my doctor even complimented me on my EKG, which I was not expecting. (Good job, heart!) She kept cautioning me that this was just a “12-second snapshot” and a stress test would give more thorough feedback, but still, I feel much better about the state of my heart than I did earlier this week.
I took 11 photos of Lila lying on the couch in this position. Is that excessive? Look at her soft white belly! Her little toes tucked up against the couch! HER PAWS. Gah. I love her so much.
Have you ever had an EKG? Are you laughing at Florida’s excuse for a cold front?

An EKG! Stephany, what’s next??? OMG girl, you have had so many medical things going on lately. I hope all is well, friend.
Okay, obviously I am NOT A DOCTOR and this is NOT MEDICAL ADVICE and yada, yada, yada. But years ago I had something soooo similar and I had a breast ultrasound (the pain/pressure would start in my breast; just my left side, and radiate out to the “crook” of my underarm) and all sorts of things and my doctor eventually determined it was low magnesium. I now take magnesium regularly and it cleared the issue up. Bizarre and I am not saying we have the same thing, but if you don’t already use magnesium, it might be worth trying out?
A cat hammock! Too cool!
Thank you so much for this comment, Elisabeth! I just bought some magnesium today to see if that helps the issue. What you had sounds exactly like what I’m dealing with!
Your cat Eloise looks a lot like my cat Ove. It seems like you and the cats are all feeling more settled in the new place!
I’m not laughing – the 20s is COLD. We haven’t gotten down that low yet!
Lila’s front paws all curled up. IT’S TOO MUCH.
Eating Thai food at 9:30 in the am is some special kind of heaven! 🙂
The Eloise pic reminds me I was going to tell you about this product I saw at Cat Fest this weekend. It’s a cat bed you attach to your desk with an arm so they are cozy and nearby but off your desk surface LOL. Made me think of your fury coworkers.
I can’t wait to see your gallery wall! I love that the painting I had done of the girls will be on it!
I am glad your EKG went well and your heart looked good. I hope that pain goes away.
11 photos is SADLY PATHETIC AND NOT ENOUGH. I say this with love. Take 20 and send them all to me.
I was laughing at your “cold front” LOLOL not gonna lie. I have had an EKG!
I’ve seen that cat bed! I really want it, but I’m also worried I’ll buy it, install it, and then the cats won’t use it. But I should give it a try, at least!
Awww give me her belly!!!!!
Did you know I used to frequent a Buddist temple all the time?… It is called So Shim Sa and it used to be close by but then they moved and well… I stopped going. They blessed my two kids, too, with the Buddhist blessing.
THE SOFT WHITE BELLY!!!
I did not know that – how cool!
Man, you should have made a bingo card of random medical procedures and appointments! Surely you’d have a bingo by now! You have really been through the ringer. I do not think I have had an EKG. It seems like my heart is one of the few areas of my body that doesn’t have any issues. I always get compliments on my pulse and BP. Today when I got my infusion, the nurse was like – ok, wow, do you run? Lol. But the rest of my body is a hot freaking mess so this is not a flex of any sort.
And that is TRULY COLD! Feels like in the 20s? Burr! I mean you guys don’t have clothes for this kind of weather! It’s going to be unseasonably nice here today with highs in the 60s. I dread what is to come.
I *must* have bingo by now! I cannot believe how many different medical oddities have popped up for me this year. At least I met my deductible early and everything since April has been free, haha.
There is a Thai Buddhist Temple in Berkeley, near my brother, that sells food every Sunday morning and it’s is always PACKED. The food is so good, so it’s no surprise – it doesn’t taste anything like Thai food you get at a restaurant. I guess they technically don’t sell the food – you give them a donation and depending on how big a donation you give, they give you tokens that you exchange for food. Anyhow, I wish there was something like that near me because the food was incredible.
Have your kitties fully settled in to the new place? They certainly look very comfortable!
They have settled in! Lila is back to her old self, which makes me very happy. 🙂
11 photos is the bare minimum!
I am here to defend your reaction to the cold front. I need FL to stay warm so that I can visit to escape our winters!
Hee hee! That is an adorable photo of Lila. I love all the cat photos in this post.
Wow- we got cold this week, but you REALLY got cold!!! Tampa isn’t that far north of South Florida, but it’s like a different climate in the winter.
Glad everything was okay with the EKG. I’m intrigued by Elisabeth’s comment- I’ll be interested to hear if you try that.
Aww, all your cat hangout spots looks so cozy! I wanna be a cat in your apartment 🙂
I’ve had an EKG a few years back right after completing a half marathon because I was experiencing heart palpitations. They never figured out what it was. I hope the weird pain goes away and it turns out it’s nothing. I love Elisabeth’s advice on magnesium. Can’t hurt!
Your kitties are so cute!!!! I love how they’re all, new home, new nesting habits!
An EKG?! Stephany, you have sure had a battery of tests and medical stuff this year. My goodness. I’m really glad the results didn’t show any issues!
40? 24? BRRRR! From AC to Heater in one day!
I love that your kitties are getting settled in. Hope all is well with the EKG, I hope it’s as simple as Elisabeth’s magnesium solution.
I have never been inside a Buddhist temple. I would love to have a peak.
Sorry you had a noter medical thing to take care of. How exhausting.
we are going below freezing this upcoming week and I couldn’t be more excited.
I’m glad the EKG showed nothing, and I hope Elisabeth’s suggestion helps. That would be an easy fix, right? I’ve not had an EKG. I don’t think. Ask me about how many colonoscopies I’ve had, and then I’ll have a lot to talk about. Bah ha ha.
I love that the cats are finding new spots to enjoy in your new apartment. If I lived in Florida and it was that cold, I’d be like WTF is this? Not having it.
Ugh for the ongoing medical stuff – it all comes at once, doesn’t it? I’m glad you were cleared but also hope that you get some relief from the pain. Not to be too simplistic, but…has anyone suggested exercise-induced asthma? In some people, it can manifest as pain and shortness of breath, not wheezing. It might be worth mentioning to your doc, to see if they’re willing to do a trial of a short-acting inhaler for exercise. Can’t hurt (most likely), might help? Regardless, I hope it improves and soon. You need a break.
