Monthly Goals | April 2026

As expected, my goal-finishing prowess came to a screeching halt in March. Ah, well. I got 1.5 goals completed, so it wasn’t all bad. Fingers crossed I can do better in April!

March Goals

1) Schedule an eye appointment. Not complete. I kept forgetting about this goal!

2) Make two new recipes. Not complete. Ugh. Getting sick derailed me, and then all of a sudden, it was the end of March, and I hadn’t even looked for new recipes to try.

3) Get Lila set up at the new vet. Complete! She’s now at the same vet as Eloise, and everyone loves her. (I mean, duh.)

4) Complete two character studies for my two main characters and start working on my plot. I finished one character study, and I’m about a 1/4th of the way through the other one. The character study template I’m using is VERY detailed, so it’s taking me a while. But I’m still plugging away!

5) Figure out my 401K situation. LOL, no. I’m still dragging my feet on this. (Short version: My company was sold last year, and the new org has a different 401K provider. I need to move the money from my old 401K to this new one.)

April Goals

1) Schedule an eye appointment. Rollover goal.

2) Reorganize the cabinet under my sink. This cabinet is where I keep household supplies like trash bags and dishwasher pods, as well as cleaning supplies. It’s getting a little disorganized, so it’s time to sit down, pull everything out, and reorganize it. My favorite thing!

3) Offload some prescriptions. I have about 5 or 6 unopened bottles of prescription medication that I need to get rid of. I think I can go to a pharmacy and drop them off (these bottles were delivered by mail from a special pharmacy—they were a new kind of depression medication that I no longer need). I figured I’m much more apt to complete this goal if I have to report on it next month!

4) Read at least four books during my solo reading retreat. My solo reading retreat is this month! I’m so excited. I’m already plucking books off my shelf that I want to bring with me. My goal is to finish four books!

5) Figure out my 401K situation. Rollover goal… again.

What’s something you want to do in April?

Oooh I am so excited about your writing! The character studies are such a fun part of the process. Isn’t it great to just…create a character? I love it!
April is my birthday month! It’s also garden season, so that is what I am looking forward to!

      Happy birthday month to YOU!

It has been so much fun to create these characters and see them blossom. 🙂 My favorite part of the writing process, which is why I have lots of IDEAS but not a finished manuscript to my name, lollll.

You have some good goals! I am considering cleaning out my bathroom cabinet, it’s a mess (again). I mean, I cleaned it out last summer, but it gets unruly so quickly. Ditto my makeup drawer. I have probably 80 – 100 products in there (Is this true? I have no idea.) and I use probably 5. I should be brutal. But I hate to waste money, and if I bought them I feel like I should use them. Sigh.

My big goal for April is non-negotiable, and it is to finish and file our taxes. Humbug (we owe, as we always do).

Ooh yes – the taxes must get done in April. You’ve got this!

Even as someone who tries VERY HARD to be super organized, it’s so easy for those drawers and cabinets to get messy. But I do love an organization project so I’m looking forward to this one!

I can understand how you forgot about the eye appt goal. I feel so buried underneath appts lately. I made 2 appts on Friday and a 3rd one today and was feeling proud of myself. Then I got a text reminding me that it’s time to schedule Paul’s eye appt… plus I need to make sure they have dental appts as I can’t remember if I scheduled them at the end of their last appt. The # of medical appts our family has in a calendar year is BANANAS. Well, except for Phil who tends to have ONE appt a year for his physical. Sigh.

In April I would like to make some progress on my exposure therapy to deal w/ my fire sensitivity (I explained the process in my latest blog post). I have not done a single thing for it and I really need to. But it is not at all enjoyable!

I have so many other appts I need to make, too, gah. The eye appointment is one in a long line, but it’s so annoying to have to CALL and make the appointment.

Exposure therapy does not sound like a fun thing to do, so sending you lots of love. <3

Tell us more about a character study! Or if no one is interested tell me. I have never looked into writing fiction and I do not think it’s for me but I am curious.

I feel you on jotting down goals in order to have to report back. I am all here for accountability.
