Snapshot of My Day: Tuesday, February 10, 2026

Time I woke up: 7:00 a.m. (my morning routine is so messed up now that I’m staying up late to watch Olympics coverage)

First thing I did upon waking: I fed the girls and then did an abbreviated morning routine

First app I opened this morning: Email (personal email, not work email!)

Today’s weather: BEAUTIFUL. The high is 73, and it was in the upper 40s when I woke up. Sunny with a slight breeze… this weather is what I live for!

Today’s mood: Mostly upbeat! My pain isn’t too bad, work wasn’t too crazy, and my cats were cute as always.

Something I spent money on today: A bagel and an iced coffee at Einstein’s – I had to run some errands in the morning, so I treated myself to breakfast.

An out-of-the-ordinary thing that happened today: I had to pick up a new prescription (a different steroid since I’m still having lots of joint pain/stiffness on the prednisone, even after increasing the dose), and since I wanted to start it that morning, I had to run that errand around 9am once the pharmacy opened. Traffic was terrible! Gah.

Something weird I said to my cats today: “I’m not trying to murder you! I’m trying to put on a collar.” <– Lila was very much a drama queen about getting a new collar on.

One minor annoyance from my day: Being on the second day of my period. Waking up at 3:30am with cramps is VERY annoying.

Last thing I read (not on the Internet): Heart the Lover by Lily King (I am tearing through this book!)

Last thing I read (on the Internet): Blogs! Specifically, Engie’s post about her FIGs of last week.

Last text I sent: “MY PEARLS” (sent to my mom when Eloise wouldn’t let me remove her new collar that has pearls!)

Last text I received: A picture from a friend to our book club group chat! She’s in NYC and texted us a picture of her dinner spot.

Last website I visited: ChatGPT.

Last show I watched: Olympics! Tonight has been downhill skiing and figure skating.

Last podcast I listened to: Corporate Gossip

Last thing I said: “Found it!” (I was searching for the remote to unmute the TV, so I had to let a snoozing Lila know all was okay.)

Last thing I ate: Chipwich!

New collars! (And an extra one for Lucy because she also loves her pearls.)

What I was doing an hour ago: I was chatting on FaceTime with my mom

What I will be doing an hour from now: Hopefully, I’ll be asleep! I need to wrap up this post and get my evening routine started.

What I need to do before bed: I have to scoop the litter boxes. And start the dishwasher. Ughhhh.

Current whereabouts of other members of my household: Currently, Lila is snoozing beside me on the couch and Eloise is… hold on, let me find her… aww! She’s holding court in my bedroom on top of some pillows.

What time did you wake up yesterday and what was the first app you opened on your phone?

Heart the Lover! We’ll have to compare notes…
Sorry you’re still having pain- I hope the new steroid helps.
I can’t wait to see a photo of the girls with their new collars. I think Muffin would try to kill me if I attempted to put a collar on her, lol.
Let’s see… I also had a later than usual wakeup yesterday, 6 am! And the first app I opened was probably weather. Yes, I love it! This is the weather we live for.

I need to text you! I finished Heart the Lover yesterday and adored it.

Lila definitely wanted to kill me for attempting to put on a collar, but I was finally successful this evening. Yasss!

Your girls are queens. Please tell them that I think they are perfect!

I woke up at 5:30 and the first app I open is my podcast app (Podcast Addict) to download any new episodes that have been posted.

Fancy pearls! Lovely! I am glad you’re loving Heart the Lover.

I’m sorry you’re having to try a new steroid. My experience has been that prednisone did not get rid of all of my pain, just made it manageable. I hope the new one does better for you.

My first app (sadly) is generally my work email. I glance at it to see what kind of day lays ahead. Then I close that and open my NYT app so I can play Wordle.

Unfortunately, I was feeling like I did BEFORE starting prednisone. But the new steroid is much better!

I woke up at 3:58, which is pretty normal for me. Actually my husband woke me up when he got up to use the bathroom at 1:00, but I went back to sleep, so that doesn’t count. First app…I guess it was Spotify. I don’t look at my phone much in the morning until much later – but I did open up my gmail on my laptop, so maybe that counts.

The pearl collars are adorable! Love it! Was Bri in NYC? I was, too!

I woke up at 6:20 yesterday and slept so hard the night before as it was my first night back in our bed after my work trip. And my first ap I open is always Gmail!

No, it was another friend! I need to connect you two, just in case you guys end up in NYC together at some point. Ha!

      Hooray for GOOD SLEEP!

Why do pharmacies open so late? I know they are having staffing issues – at least around here – but come on. 9 am on a weekday? Sheesh.
I hope the new med is helping.
Your girls are better dressed than I am. 😉
