Stitch Fix | The London Edition

It’s time for another Stitch Fix fashion show! I ordered this Fix a few months after my summer fix, and I specifically asked for warm clothes that I could wear while traveling around London. It’s going to be on the chilly side for this Florida girl (right now, highs are in the mid-60s), so I needed some options that would keep me warm. I was really hoping for a lightweight jacket, but it wasn’t included in my preview (despite asking for it, argh).

I ordered 8 items for this Fix and if I would have kept every single item, the total price would have been $370. LOLOLOL, no. The items in this Fix were all pretty pricey (nothing under $50), so I had to be pretty brutal with what I decided to keep and return because I didn’t want to spend too much money.

Will I keep doing Stitch Fix after this? I don’t think so. I think this could be something I do once or twice a year when I’m ready for a wardrobe refresh, but it’s just a lot of money to spend otherwise. Anyway! Let’s get into the items:

Cosmic Blue Love Gianna Mid-Rise Ankle Skinny Jeans ($89)

These jeans felt like butter. They were so smooth and stretchy, almost like jeggings. And since I’m a shortie (5’2″), the ankle length means that they fit me perfectly in length! I also loved the color – dark gray – which is different than every other pair of jeans I own. While I have never spent so much money on one pair of jeans in my life, I decided to keep them.

Market & Spruce Lily Cozy Crew Neck Brushed Knit Top ($49)

I really liked this top! It was very comfortable and give me anything that’s black and striped, please and thank you. I wanted to keep this shirt, but when I had to remove something from my bag to bring down my overall price, this was the shirt that didn’t make the cut. Wah! Return.

Market & Spruce Jackson Waffle Crewneck Sweater ($49)

This sweater was so cozy when I put it on! Sometimes these kinds of sweaters can look cozy but actually be very itchy, but that was not the case. I loved the color, loved the fit, and loved that it wasn’t too warm/bulky. It’ll be a perfect addition to my London wardrobe. KEEP!

Liverpool Abby Skinny Jean ($89)

I loved these jeans when I put them on. Just like the pair before them, they felt almost like jeggings. Unfortunately, I didn’t want to spend nearly $200 on two pairs of jeans. (I knew I was only going to choose one pair of jeans, even though I selected two options for my Fix.) Since I liked the other pair of jeans better, I decided to return these.

Market & Spruce Joey Henley Cozy Brushed Knit Top ($49)

I really liked this shirt! It fit me well and I love the little detail with the buttons – it gives it a different look than most of my long-sleeved t-shirts. I always have good luck with the Market & Spruce brand from Stitch Fix, too, and most of their shirts last a long time. This one was comfortable and I really loved the fit, so I decided to keep it.

Lety & Me Vittoria Pointelle Sleeve Sweater ($49)

What a fun top! I loved the lacy sleeves—and they weren’t itchy like lacy sleeves can sometimes be. A long-sleeved shirt like this with some breathability is perfect for Florida winters. I also really liked the color – it’s rare for me to pick out a bright red top on my own. Alas, it wasn’t the right choice for my London trip, which is the whole reason I did this Fix, so I decided to return it.

41 Hawthorn Aubree Fine Gauge Crewneck Sweater ($49)

This sweater was a little tight on me. At first, I liked the way it seemed to just wrap me in a cozy hug, but the longer I wore the shirt, the more it started to irritate me. I could have sized up, but since I needed to keep this Fix to just two shirts, this was an easy return.

Love Ellie Jamison Long Sleeve Sweater ($59)

This sweater was so cozy! I loved it the minute I put it on. It was lightweight, but felt like it was be the right style for London. Unfortunately, the sleeves were so long! They came all the way down to the tops of my fingers, and something that annoys me to no end are long-sleeved shirts that I have to keep rolled up because the sleeves are too long. I also wasn’t going to spend $60 on a sweater, so I wasn’t too sad to return it.

***

In the end, I kept three items and I still paid over $200. But I’m happy with the items I kept, and thankfully, my cold-weather clothes tend to last me a very long time since I only need them for a few months out of the year! I think I’m pretty much set on my London wardrobe, so that’s exciting! Today marks the 20-day countdown. Eeks!

What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

Well I secretly kind of wish you would keep doing internet fashion shows, because these posts are so fun. Haha! But I suppose that would not really be very sustainable, in many ways! lol. That green crewneck sweater looks PERFECT for a UK trip!! Totally the right vibe.

Aww, thank you for this comment! I have always been worried these posts are super boring, lol, so at least I know people like them. It’s fun to play model every few months, but gah, Stitch Fix clothes are getting so expensive.

I have short arms and HATE when sweaters go down to my fingertips. Argh. So frustrating. But it’s great you can try things on in the comfort of your own home and really consider the pros and cons before deciding what to keep/return!

Finding comfortable pants is such a win!!!

Last piece of clothing I bought. Hmmm. It would have been at a thrift store, but I’m not quite sure. I bought a GAP sweatshirt that I love and have been wearing all the time lately, so I think it was that?

I’m glad I’m not alone in despising too-long sleeves. It’s just so uncomfortable!

It is really nice to try things on at home and not be dependent on those wretched store mirrors. And you can “live” in the clothes for a bit to see how they function, which is also cool.

I love both of the tops that you kept so much! Especially the green one. When Stichfix is good it is oh so good.

I agree with Kae- I’m enjoying these stitch fix fashion shows! I feel like I’m vicariously clothes shopping. I love the items you decided to keep, and I actually also love that sweater with the long arms. I don’t mind that- it makes me feel extra cozy or something. Unfortunately we need sweaters so rarely down here (sigh). Anyway- you will be all set up for the London trip!

Stitch Fix post!!!!! I loved the three pieces you kept!
I still have a few things from my Stitch Fix days back in 2018! I had Lyra and didn’t know who I was anymore. So I subscribed to Perl myself up a bit. It worked- a little.

I think Stitch Fix is a great option when you want to revamp your wardrobe a bit! I can see how it would be great after having a baby to give you something fresh and fun.

Oh so fun!!! These are all extremely cute which makes it a tough decision. You made great choices. I want the henley for myself!!! Funny that the too-long sleeves are a deal breaker for you – I love being able to tuck my hands inside my shirt.

Maybe if I lived in a cold-weather climate I wouldn’t mind too-long sleeves, but in Florida, they’re just not necessary and they drive me crazy! Ha.

I think I would have kept both jeans because they look GREAT ON YOU and jeans can be hard to fit. Love the shirts you kept– so hard to find cozy and non-bulky.

Oooh that would have been hard to return things because they all look so good! I don’t know, $200 for three items seems reasonable to me – and $89 for jeans seems totally reasonable, even inexpensive. Maybe I spend too much money on jeans? Idk. I think you got some great pieces there for really good prices! I love every one of them honestly! I have the opposite problem as you, I have long arms and what I hate is when sleeves are too short!
I am so excited for you and your trip! It’s going to be so great!

I think I’m just way too used to Old Navy prices, lol. I’ve never spent more than $40 on a pair of jeans, but also: it’s fast fashion! I don’t know if these brands are also considered fast fashion, but hopefully not!

All the items are pretty. You found the best ones. What a fun way to shop. The last piece of clothing I bought was a zip-up fleece jacket. Not too exciting but useful.

I always find your Stitch Fix posts so fun! I thought everything looked really great on you too.
I love me a red sweater, but I think the pieces you kept are much more versatile, which is good for traveling.
I’ve thought about doing Stitch Fix, but I’m really picky about fabric, so I’m hesitant.
I’m so vicariously excited for your trip!!!

I totally understand the hesitancy! I do believe you can select certain fabrics to be excluded from any Fixes, or at the very least, you can make a note for your stylist. Worst case, you’re only out $20 if you hate everything and send it all back! (And I think you MAY be able to get that $20 fee waived for your first time, but don’t quote me on that.)

I love what you kept! And I agree that $200 for 3 items isn’t too bad for higher quality items. I know it seems very expensive compared to places like Old Navy, though. The last article of clothing I bought was a navy and white striped sweater from Land’s End. I added it to the order when I ordered a backpack for Taco. It’s so comfy so was a total winner. I really need to rebuild my sweater collection. I’ve had most of my sweaters since before Paul was born – so 8+ years!!

I am so used to Old Navy prices and paying $30 for a pair of jeans, ha. But you’re right – these are higher-quality items, which means paying more.

Hooray for a cozy sweater! And navy-and-white stripes? Totally Lisa coded!

I LOVE your fashion shows! Stitch Fix or whatever – I’m here for it! Everything looks so nice on you – it would’ve been hard to decide to return some. But you had your reasons, and I totally respect that. It has been way too long since I’ve purchased any clothing. I’m starting to look like a raggamuffin!

How fun. I think you kept some very reasonable fun and good looking things for your London trip.
Jeans are so expensive. I dont think I ever spent more than 40€ on one. I am cheap like that. I love that red sweater on you but totally get the reasoning why you returned it.

So excited for your London trip.

I am also very cheap when it comes to jeans! These are the best-fitting and best-feeling jeans I’ve ever worn, so I guess it’s worth it to pay more. We’ll see how long they last!

My jaw literally dropped open when I read that was the most you’d spent on jeans. I obviously have a lot of confusion about what people spend on clothes! If it makes you feel better about buying those jeans, if I buy jeans (which is rare), I regularly spend multiples of that.

I think that one of the things I’ve gotten from reviews of Stitch Fix and other clothes subscriptions is that it seems like the stylists don’t always listen to you. Like…you wanted a lightweight jacket? Why weren’t you given a couple to choose from? Ugh. I would find that endlessly frustrating!

That stinks they didn’t send a single jacket. Are you still trying to find one before your trip?

Oh, dark gray jeans?! Yes! Those will be perfect on your trip. And I love the green sweater on you. Talking about sweaters takes me back to childhood memories of ALL sweaters feeling that way and not realizing that soft sweaters existed until I started buying them myself LOL.

I love the buttons on the Market & Spruce too! I ended up keeping a lot from them when I did SF as well 😀

That stinks the sleeves were too long on the last sweater! It’s so cute.

Hmm! Oh! The last clothing I bought was some cute Halloween and Thanksgiving themed shirts for the gym!

I am living vicariously through you. I know the joy of finding pants that FIT when you’re, um, one of the people who can’t reach the top shelf without a 3-step stepstool. (Who, me?) So YAY for that and also? you look great in green. Hope the clothes work well on the trip.
