Week in the Life: Sunday, November 23, 2025

5:30 a.m.: It’s another early morning for me thanks to period cramps and an aching back. This is a new symptom for me, and I’m not sure what’s causing it, but I’m waking up with spasms right below my ribs, but above my sciatica. Just add it to my list of ailments. I take some ibuprofen.

6:30 a.m.: I tried going back to sleep, but my back hurts too much so instead, I take another early morning bubble bath. That helps!

7:15 a.m.: I do a bit of research to figure out what’s causing this back pain and how to improve it, and then research pillow options on Amazon.

7:30 a.m.: I order breakfast (not proud of this, but I woke up in a lot of pain today between my back and my hips and it’s the path of least resistance) and read my book while I wait for it to arrive.

7:50 a.m.: Food is here, so I eat while scrolling Reddit. I play my NYT games and angrily text my group chat about today’s Connections categories.

8:30 a.m.: I go back to bed because I am exhausted, and I can do things like that as a childless woman, woop!

10:30 a.m.: I wake up before the alarm I had set for 11:30, and Eloise is laying on me. I spend some time petting her and then do some stretches – child’s pose and cat/cow in the bed, which feel oh-so-good on my back and hips. And then I slowly get off the bed and do more stretches, specifically focusing on my hips and IT band. I need to be so much better about stretching than I am!

10:45 a.m.: I putter around the house for a while. I put some Christmas stuff outside my door (a doormat, a wreath, a sign) and go through my morning routine. I also comment on some blogs.

11:45 a.m.: Cramps are crampin’ so I take a minute to sit on the couch and play on my phone.

12:00 p.m.: I get ready to leave for the day. I brush my hair into a bun, figure out what I’m taking to my mom’s, and get some boxes together to take down to the trash compactor.

12:15 p.m.: I leave my apartment, take the boxes to the trash compactor on my way, and then drive to Publix.

12:40 p.m.: Done at Publix. I drive to my mom’s house and then it’s time for football Sunday! There’s not a ton that happens: I eat lunch, we watch football, and I spend a lot of time scrolling and looking at Christmas present ideas. With a few taps on my phone, I’ve finished my younger nephew’s Christmas shopping. Woop!

3:00 p.m.: I make dessert. (I made this extra peppermint-y by adding crushed Andes peppermints to the mix.) While the cookies are baking, I sit down at the table and update my One Line a Day journal because I’m woefully behind.

4:30 p.m.: Couch rotting time. I mostly play on my phone while watching the game. Around 5:30, my brother leaves to have dinner with my SIL’s family since it’s her father’s birthday.

5:55 p.m.: I finally pick up my book and do a little reading, keeping an eye on the game while I do.

6:30 p.m.: I eat dinner (leftovers from lunch!) and continue filling in my One Line a Day journal.

7:00 p.m.: More couch rotting time. The end of the Eagles/Cowboys game is crazy! I chit-chat with mom and we talk about ideas for my birthday.

7:50 p.m.: The Eagles/Cowboys game is over so it’s time for me to head home. When I get home, I give the girls some treats and put out my trash to be picked up outside my door (valet trash is my faaaave).

8:20 p.m.: I sit on the couch, turn on the Sunday Night Football game, and have quality time with my heating pad. I give it 15 minutes on each hip/upper leg, 15 minutes on the top of my left shoulder, and 15 minutes on my back. Ahhhh!

9:30 p.m.: I work on the blog post that will be publishing tomorrow. I also read and comment on blog posts.

10:45 p.m.: I’m very tired and have an early alarm tomorrow. I do a shortened nighttime routine and then it’s off to bed for me!

Ugh, another rough start to your day! The combination of period cramps plus your hip/back/IT band pain sounds awful. I’m glad you could take a bath and then go back to bed.
I like how honest you are in these daily recaps! I think if I were doing it I would think, “No, I can’t order breakfast because then I’ll have to admit it on the blog!” but you’re just like, I’m doing it and I don’t care. Love it.
I also love that cat “palace” to the left of your TV. Omg Foxy would go crazy over that.

My sleep has been much better this week – my period always messes with my sleep more than I realize!

I will admit that I felt embarrassed that I had to admit I ordered breakfast delivery, but ugh, I was just in so much pain but also hungry, and I had to do what I had to do.

Ha if you were texting the group over Sunday’s Connections I can only imagine what the chat looks like today! Seriously, what was that??????

Going back to bed FTW! I was sick last week which was a bummer, but it was so nice to just be able to get into bed instead of having to power through work.

Most of our group chat is just venting about the stupid Connections categories. Ugh!

Wait! But what did you get for that TOTALLY DESERVED TO BE ORDERED IN breakfast?

How many One Line a Day entries did you have to do?

LOL – it was McDonald’s. So dumb.

I think I was about a month behind, so I did maybe 20ish on Sunday to try to get caught up!

I have stopped playing the NYT morning games, but now I want to know what the Connections was! I love that game so much.

The back pain and cramps sound like a real bummer. I’m glad you were able to give them some attention.

I see the Vikings in one of the pictures. We had another embarrassing performance. Gah. We didn’t have super high hopes this season with an untested rookie QB at the helm but we didn’t think it would be quite this bad. Phil made a # of wins in the season bet w/ a friend before the season started. His friend thought they’d be better than 500 so at least Phil is going to get some money out of it. Shrugs shoulders.

I think you should re-consider getting a Mirena IUD. I know some people have some horror stories about it, but I adjusted to it pretty quickly and now I can barely tell if I am having my period! And I do not get cramps really. The insertion is uncomfortable but it’s over very fast. If it’s awful, you can have it removed (also an uncomfortable procedure). I wish I had gotten mine a whole lot sooner than I did! I imagine your period pain is contributing to your back pain. Gosh you just cannot catch a break!!

Crushed Andes peppermints! Well that is a Brilliant Life Hack if you ask me.

Sorry for such crampy days. No fun.

Overall your day does sound relaxing though.
